On self-conscious scrolling

There is a strange sort of feeling I get when browsing tiktok, instagram, etc, where I see a post I’m not sure if I like or not, and I force myself to make a snap decision if I should give it attention less the evil Algorithm will forever continue recommending such posts to me.

It is a silly learned behavior that I haven’t really seen people talk about - a sort of anxious way to scroll that fears some invisible eye judging just how many seconds you’ve spent on each post. Should I watch this video of a cute boy dancing? Or will it doom me to a timeline of 95% dancing-boys-content? Better scroll away quickly just to be safe.
