An Eden's Garden Tribute (To The Story we never had)
Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom, filled with animals of majesty and delight of all sorts. The trees there grew tall, the flowers bloomed bright, the sky was clearer than the blue waters that ran through their rivers.
However... Not all was happy in the Animal Kingdom... A ram, with eyes red as blood and fleece as grey as steel, took upon himself to lock away the animals into a deep cave away from the world they all knew... He did this with the help of a Puma, whose light had left her eyes long ago.
As the animals rested inside the cave, they grew restless... And the once majectic animals started to become restless and untamable... It was gradual, piece by piece, case by case... Each animal losing little bits of their sanity...
The Crow was first... She was Isolated from the group... Despite her attempts to appear great and tall, the sheep called her as just a little squawky bird, who should be locked away in a cage where it could no longer squawk. The Crow was frustrated, and in her rage she threw the sheep in the Ocean and watched him drown. The sheep, helpless and mindless, bleated for help... But the Chameleon, changing but weak, could do nothing to help the drowning sheep... In the end, the Ram's Rage at the Crow's insolence had her burned to cinders.
Next... A Dragon... He had grown upon mighty wealth and comoraderie... He claimed and considered every member of the Animal Kingdom his treasure, the beloved bounty he treasured most in this world. All the animals believed him... All except one... The Owl... Curious and Wise, the Owl saught beyond the lies that the the Dragon had set up... Where he found the dirty truth the Dragon had buried underneath... Not wishing to dare ruin the Camraderie the group had set up, the Dragon carved up the Owl with his might claws, scattering his essence to the wind... When the Ram and Puma found this truth... They saw not a great leader... But a mighty beast to be tamed... They chained the Dragon and threw him to the Ocean, watching him drown much like the sheep.
...The Flamingo... She was kind and sweet... She never laid a finger in her life... She wanted nothing more than love for everyone in the Kingdom... But there was one enemy who got in the way of that... The Snake... The one who had unveiled the lies of the Crow and the Dragon, all while selfishly fulfilling only his own needs and wants. The Flamingo hated the snake... She wanted him disparraged... As did most of the animal kingdom... Except one... The Butterfly... Who gently held the snake on his wings... His only support and kindness... And unfortunately, when the Flamingo attempted to crush the neck of the snake... It was the Butterfly who got crushed instead... The Puma and the Ram were terrified once more... But not at the Flamingo... They were terrified for her... They tried to protect her from the might of the animals... But such a thing would never be possible... Not while the snake was alive... Thus... With one arrow, the Flamingo's heart was struck true... And she laid to rest...
...The Alligator... His story was not one of might, fear, or fame... He only desired love... from the Coyote... Despite an animal of the Sea, the Alligator felt his heart swoon from the love of the Coyote, both with and without the mighty fur that Coyote covered his scars with... However, when he confessed his love for the Coyote, the Alligator was rejected... As the Coyote considered the Alligator a friend... But Nothing More... In his despair, the Alligator stripped the fur that Coyote used to hide himself and went to the sea, determined to rung his own neck... However... In the process, the Lion, a mighty and courageous creature she was, encountered him attempting... And stopped the Crocodile from ending his life... But only at the cost of her own... Drowned only further in despair, the ringing in the Alligator's Ears grew deafening, further and further... Till there was nothing left... And the Alligator was only in the sweet sound of silence once more...
The Shark... A mighty animal... A predator all the others feared... All but one... the Swan, his kindest companion. And as the animals remained in the cave longer and longer... The Swan herself grew weak... So... The Shark knew what he had to do. He took it upon himself to ram into the Gates of the Cave, fully intent on sacrificing his own life for the Swan's... The Swan flew alongside him, begging and pleading for the Shark to stop, as she grapsed at him with her wings, trying to stop him with feeble attempts... Alas... There was no stopping... The Shark rammed the gate, unsuccessfully... All the while crushing himself... Perishing upon contact... And as the Swan mourned... A single thread took hold of her foot... And dragged her along with the Shark... Deeper down into the Abyss...
This thread is what caught the Snake's attention... His selfishness wading with time and fear as he watched more and more of his animal friends suffer greatly... He realized something... The Puma, the Ram, the Crow, the Dragon, the Flamingo, the Crocodile, even the Shark... All of them had that thin thread connected to them... To their madness and fall... And when he traced the thread's origins... From what little he could find... He found out the true one behind the Animal's sealed in the Cavern...
...The Spider... A small, tiny little spider... Who everyone never saw a second thought for... For despite her weaving of webs, she never posed a threat... And helped keep spirits arised while the world was burning... But the world was not the only thing that burned... The Spider's Rage... For her fellow spiders who the Kingdom had crushed under their feet... For the other animals who the world had discard... For the sheep whose coat and pedicure was made with lie... For the bear who stomped on the other animals for her own success... Fury burned her... So she weaved her largest web yet... A web that encased the entire animal kingdom...
And when the snake realized the full extent of the Spider's Cruelty... What she had done out of vengeance, out of her spite... And the innocent animals she had hurt... The Snake ate her... While at the same time... The Spider's Venom pierced the snake's throat... The two died in an endless struggle as their venom pierced the other... Not realizing as a single rock would crush them both dead... Their selfishness their downfall...
In the end, with the Spider Dead, only 6 animals walked out of the Cavern into the broken burning world... Alive... But never the same
The Rabbit, once selfish and angry, now downtrodden by the loss of people she called friends.
The Bear, uncaring and unfeeling, now having gained the sense of empathy she so needed... A long forgotten feeling
The Coyote, his only love lost to the wind, and his scars on full display... Though no longer holding the wish to hide his imperfections... ANd hoping to grow mightier for the sake of those he lost
The Puma, lost her humanity once, now defected from the Spider's Web, and given the chance to regain everything she lost... For her sister that was once consumed similarly to the Spider's Friends... But she would not be the Spider... She would be better...
The Ram, regretful and remorseful, once a proud shower of his horns, now having them cut from his head... he lacked purpose... A purpose he would need to find on his own...
And finally... The Chameleon... The one who watched it all from the sides... Who had done her best to remain positive despite the horrors... Who helped the Snake find the selflessness he needed to tear down the spider, and the one who never gave up despite everything thrown her way, even from the beginning... She didn't know what would happen now... But her adaptability... Her willingness to listen... And willingness to change... It had brought her so far... She would never lose it again...
As she rebuilt the world anew, her friends at her side... And a whole new Animal Kingdom to rebuild... Better... Kinder... And Greater...
