I know for most, that the idea of waking up early on a Sunday morning and going for a 10km run in the freezing Canberra weather does not impress, but today I wouldn't have been anywhere else. About 8 months ago, one of my best friends was given the news no women ever wants hear, "I'm sorry, you've got breast cancer." One would think that this news would make your world stop and how do you go on.... Not her!!!! Through her courage, immense strength and determination she has not let this stop her. In the last 8 months even after surgery and chemotherapy, she has proven that this disease is not going to keep her down. To say I am proud to be her friend is an understatement. Today, together, we ran the 10km Mother's Day Classic around Lake Burley Griffin. I ran for her and she ran for herself. I have never been prouder to run a race than what I was this morning. To the woman standing beside me in this picture, I LOVE YOU and I'm unbelievably honored to be your friend. You are an amazing mum, the best friend and such a gorgeous person. RESULTS ARE IN!!!! I set myself a goal of 1 hour to complete my first novice triathlon; 400m swim, 10km ride and 3km swim.
