Taking an example of our Heart

It is interesting that we have taken the heart as a symbol of Love. Because what does the heart do? It makes the blood flow and circulate into all the parts of our body. Thus the heart is supporting all the parts in our body EQUALLY. The heart doesn't have a preference to only support the upper part of the body and let the rest of the body go to waste - no, the blood goes everywhere equally. Hence we should really take an example of our heart - and realise that this organ in our body - which is keeping us alive - is showing us what it means to support all parts equally and unconditionally. This gives us a good perspective of the difference between love as 'feelings' and love as a practical application. The heart does not use feelings to say 'I care about you' - no, it uses consistent action and GIVING, consistently doing what is best for the whole body. Note how we easily say we love someone - while we don't care what happens to the vast majority of human beings in this world and the fate they suffer. Is that really love ? What if our Heart did the same ? Are we listening to our heart ?

Israel is an undeclared nuclear power with as many as 400 nuclear warheads; refuses to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT); bars international inspections; never ratified the Chemical Weapon Convention Treaty; used chemical weapons on Gaza; and holds an undeclared stockpile of chemical weapons larger than any other nation in the Middle East.

You want to know about innocent children dying in horrible circumstances? Read John Hersey’s “Hiroshima.” That book made clear, as the Syrian videos have, that death in warfare is terrible, and particularly heart-wrenching and unbearable to know about when it involves children. …But as the Hiroshima comparison illustrates, to mention the suffering of children does not settle political, strategic, or even moral questions. You can argue that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs were historical necessities and even “merciful” in some way, in averting later and much larger numbers of Japanese and American deaths during an invasion. You can argue the reverse. Either way, little children had their flesh roasted as they walked to school or happily played. Their suffering does not answer the “was Truman right?” or the “is deterrence moral?” questions. The suffering of people in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania 12 years ago today did not answer the “should we invade Iraq?” question. The Syria videos tell us that something horrible happened, not what we should do about it.

Does anyone else do this to their kids? You see a stranger smiling at your cute kid, so you turn to your child and say something like, “Can you say hi?” or “Can you wave?” When in reality, I’m not comfortable saying hi to this person. 

Then at home I’ll make my kids eat healthy and tell them they can’t have candy, and then as soon as they’re in bed I breakout the cookies.

Parenting is basically just forcing a child to do all the good things you can’t make yourself do.
