@itwaadim-blog
hey, guys!! i’m really sorry i haven’t been on much. rest assured, i’m definitely not abandoning this blog --- things are just pretty stressful rn with uni and financial stuff, so i’ve really only had time / energy for one blog. i’ve been spending most of my time on my TAL-VASHOTH INQUISITOR, if you guys wanna find me there!! i’ll try to do more stuff here soon as well.
stellaluminis:
She is glad to hear Sten is well – she may have never gotten along with him quite as well as some of her other companions, but she had worried after him all the same. ❝ He didn’t mention your curiosity after the Wardens. I’m afraid he saw very little of what we really are ; there were only two of us during the Blight, and both of us were quite new to the Order. But if you’ve been left with questions, I’d be happy to answer them for you, ❞ she offers with the hint of a smile.
the arishok settles down and laces his fingers together, staring at her. he has extensive questions he wants to ask, mostly because, as she pointed out, the sten had little opportunity to learn much of the WARDENS themselves. his information on the blight was adequate, but on the matter of the order that battled it, he was rather woefully uninsightful. the arishok considers for a moment, then asks, “how was your order formed?”
ofsurana:
“AYE I DO I indeed know of him, though I’m surprised he spoke of me.” Sumi replied, humoured smile forming her mouth now at the thought of her FORMER companion speaking at all; amusing though, truly. “Tell me how is that my less-than-talkative friend lacks these mighty horns, eh?”
“of course he spoke of you,” the arishok replies dismissively, completely ignoring the warden’s question. “it was at my behest that he went into the south to learn of the blight; you were instrumental in his completion of that task. there is no reason he would NOT speak of you at length.”
as per usual, lileigh is spending a free moment with her head nestled into the curve of the arishok's neck. she's quiet for once, happily soaking up the comfortable silence between them. that is, until she decides to test his patience; a flash of teeth as they scrape gently along silvered flesh.
the arishok’s patience doesn’t seem to extend to BITING. his hand flies up, grasps the back of her neck carefully, and pulls her head away from his skin, never turning around, lips twitching in faint annoyance. “do not BITE ME, inquisitor.”
“LOOK AT YOU! like fat dathrasi, you feed and feed, and complain only when your meal is interrupted. you do not look UP. you do not see that the grass is bare. all you leave in your wake is misery. you are blind. I WILL MAKE YOU SEE. fixing your mess is not the demand of the qun, and YOU SHOULD ALL BE GRATEFUL!!”
stephen admittedly wasn’t current on the politics of the members of the qun, so hearing that the arishok was no long that —— stephen gave pause, before nodding and motioning for him to follow. “ forgive me for not being exactly current with politics of the qun, admittedly it’s not one of my stronger suits. ”
the former arishok only utters a low grunt of acknowledgment. it’s expected, really, that a human man would know little about the politics or the goings-on of the qun, and on a practical level, the former arishok cares little; but hearing his LOST TITLE is a bit of a blow on an emotional level, and as much as he’d like to believe he’s a solely logical man, it’s a little too easy to damage his pride. he follows after stephen without remark on the matter, hands clenched, head bowed to avoid striking his horns on the low doorways. “i did not expect the inquisition to have such a fortress at its disposal.”
Alone, they are small, a faint and flickering light in the darkness, a lost and fallen fragment of earth. Alone, they make the emptiness real. TOGETHER, they are the bones of the world.
i summoned the arishok to fight the arishok and it was everything i hoped it would be
ATREUS HAD TO THINK HARD FOR A MOMENT, though he kept his expressionunreadable—some Orlesian schooling had given Atreus a very goodpoker face when he wanted to use it. He could not remember if he hadbeen informed or not, though he would keep that to himself. Therewere many things Atreus didn’t want people to know about him—hisfailing memory was high on that list.
“Ah’venae seen the Inquisitor t'day.” It was the truth at least, Atreuswould not lie if he did not have to. “Nor have ah been t'my officethere may be a correspondence on my desk that ah’ve nae seen, fergiveme. Ah’ve been out wit’ the troops all morn on patrol.”
the arishok doesn’t seem perturbed. whether atreus was told or not isn’t really of consequence --- he knows now. the arishok glances around slowly, taking in the surrounding scene, and lets his eyes rest briefly on the soldiers milling about in the courtyard a little ways off. he does little to hide his distaste. half of them have clearly NEVER heard of proper bodily care, the vast majority of them seem to have no idea how to stand straight, not a single one of them is paying proper attention to anything apart from their private conversations, and he can count five who have their sheaths strapped on completely wrong. five minutes at skyhold, and the arishok is already itemising a list of things to be disgusted by. the inquisitor owes varric ten sovereigns.
“---accompany me to the war room.”
seven deadly sins: 1/7 wrath
“ —— holy shit. ” the arishok? what in the maker’s name? “ ah.. may i help you, lord arishok? ”
@assignedpath
if he notices the man’s surprise, he doesn’t seem to care very much about it. “that is not my title. where is the inquisition’s WAR ROOM?”
A nod, brows furrowing — she follows his fingers as he speaks, mentally ticking off what will be needed. This isn’t the same as the work she does beside the spymaster, but she’s surprised to find it feeling similar. This feels more — natural. Did she not help plan the attacks with Shokrakar?
“A small group — that makes sense,” she murmurs, words free of ( or at least less weighed by ) that strange fear as she falls into a familiar role. She speaks, almost to herself, practically a whisper. “The Venatori will be ranged, so we need to break their line first. Mages to break it and then rogues to get close before they can get back up?” Freckled fingers tap against the map, idle, as she thinks. She lifts her head to him, expression still distant. “I — you’ll lead them?” A pause; despite the obvious truth of it, that DISQUIETS her for reasons she can’t put to words. Perhaps it is his efficacy. He seems the type to be more than willing to sacrifice her soldiers for the sake of a victory, and she doesn’t LIKE THAT. “I want to be there, then.”
the former arishok nods along with her plan of attack. saarebas were often used in seheron to break through the front lines of the tevinter forces, and while he’s not intimately familiar with the term ‘rogue’ in the common tongue, he’s wagering they’re somewhat like ashaads. her plan is a good one. break the lines with magic, take down as many enemies as possible with ranged fighters and rogues with daggers, then send in the warriors to hit the remaining forces hard. play to the strengths of all the fighters.
he is not, however, particularly pleased to hear that she wants to be there. he lifts his head and narrows his eyes at her, frowning hard. he’ll concede that she’s not a bad mage, in terms of skill, but she’s always seemed far too damned SOFT to be in a war, much less heading up the forces. she’ll care more about the lives of a handful of soldiers in one battle than about the importance of a victory, and that’s what LOSES WARS. sentiment has no place on battlefields. but as much as he dislikes the idea of her there, there’s little he can do to protest; she is still the inquisitor, and whether he likes it or not, that puts her in charge of --- well, everything. her decisions have to go unchallenged. so, with enormous reluctance, he nods once. “if that is your wish.”
What would be the Arishok's name outside of the Qun as the leader of the Inquisition's military?
i’ve been having him call himself ‘VASH.’ it’s... kind of a really mean name for him to call himself, since it comes from ‘vashedan’ ( which basically means ‘worthless refuse’ ), but that’s pretty much how he sees himself as tal-vashoth / tal-vashoth in general.
yes but hear me out,
Cullen as a red templar, YEAH SURE OKAY WHATEVER, but consider also: the disgraced former Arishok as commander of the Inquistion forces
that’s all
addendum:
u can’t stop me from dreaming UuU
ALSO
thelastdogfighter said: i am so about this except man so that’d mean the arishok is STILL stuck in a country that has no running water? that is the rawest deal
: he didn’t come here to fix your plumbing and you should be GREATFUL
“That I would, indeed.”
That he proceeds straight to business should surprise her little. But that the head of the Qunari army would travel to the southernmost lands of Thedas to seek further answers is not something she would have expected.
“However it is my wish that you understand, there are things regarding the Blight that, by the Order, I am not to discuss. You may ask whatever you wish of me, however I may not answer.”
the arishok frowns. he’s more curious than annoyed; it is, naturally, a bit irksome that he may not get answers to his questions, but as there are things about the qun that are not discussed with outsiders, he can’t truly fault the grey wardens for keeping some aspects of their order secretive as well. it does seem a little strange, however, that wardens would be forbidden from discussing certain aspects of something so world-shattering as the BLIGHT. he would expect the order to be secretive about itself, but not about the actual blight.
but he won’t protest. he dips his head once in acknowledgment, then replies, “i understand. your terms will be respected. NOW --- what is the origin of these.... creatures? the sten has told me that they are birthed by ‘broodmothers’ taken from living races, but he did not explain how the first darkspawn originally came to be.”
