T'Challa is heir to the centuries-old ruling dynasty of the African kingdom Wakanda and ritual leader of its Panther Clan. During the early days of the Mutant-Human War, Wakanda did its best to remain neutral; however, due to Wakanda's congenial relations with the United States, some mutants took it upon themselves to make a statement by attacking the Wakandan Royal Family. During one such attempt, T'Challa was saved by a mutant girl named Ororo. The two fell in love and T'Challa asked for her hand in marriage, but she declined.

In time, the Mutant-Human War ended and Magneto was victorious. T'Challa, now king of Wakanda, was taught by his father to think two steps ahead of enemies and three steps ahead of friends. Seeing the world's mutant population as a potential threat to Wakanda, T'Challa invited Magnus to his country. They established a treaty, but it is one neither man truly believes in. T'Challa is currently drumming up support for a possible coup attempt with other world leaders against Magneto. He knows it is not a matter of if, but rather when Magneto attacks him and his beloved country, Wakanda.

Trivia:

T'Challa is also the primary funder of the Mutants Sans Frontières; an organization that is dedicated to the protection of mutant rights, which also funds the X-Men's activities.

Black Panther was once referred to as the "Black Leopard" for a short time in 1972. Both in-universe and out-of-universe, it was changed to distance themselves from the group of the same name, though in-universe, T'Challa explains that he neither condemns nor condones their actions and that, technically, a leopard is a panther.

The character predates the party of the same name, but not the Black Panther logo, which was used by the party's predecessor, and by segregated World War II Black Panthers Tank Battalion. Stan Lee had denied that the character was named after these movements, which began being used after the character's creation, and cited it simply as "a strange coincidence".

Black Panther was ranked 51st on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes in 2011.

T'Challa was two times Time magazine's "Person of the Year" and six-times People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive."

Black Panther is a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire. He even threatened Deadpool's life when Wade speculated the ending of the series during a battle with him out of fear Deadpool might have actually spoiled it.

Twin sisters Rosetta and Regina were the daughters of crime lord Boss Moragn. They decided to use their skills to fight crime. Rosetta was a great fighter, while Regina was skilled with technology. They sought training from Spider-Girl's mentor, Phil Urich (the former good Green Goblin), and soon were ready to face the forces of evil. The twins decided to share one identity rather than design two. They developed a green-and-orange costume very similar to the costume worn by the Falcon before he was given his wings. They adopted the codename "Ladyhawk", and proceeded to become a superhero.

They set up a rule, that only one twin would use the identity at a time so that people wouldn't suspect that Ladyhawk was really two girls. Individually, the Ladyhawk twins fought alongside (and sometimes with) Spider-Girl. The twins were very close, and when one was out in the field, the other would monitor their progress over the radio headset built into their cowl. As time progressed, Rosetta began to use the identity more than her intellectual sibling. Rosetta (as Ladyhawk) joined with Spider-Girl, The Buzz, Darkdevil, Raptor, and Phil Urich (as Green Goblin) in the formation of a new New Warriors team. Regina also joined, but only when her sister wasn't present. When Loki began to infuse heroes with dark energy that made them very hostile, he chose the combative Ladyhawk, and the brainy twin actually had to confront her physically stronger sister, until the spell was broken.

The Hobgoblin, in an attempt to separate Spider-Girl and her friends, brutally attacked the Ladyhawk twins and left their comatose bodies chained to a fence. His attack left Regina so badly injured she needed to use a wheelchair, while Rosetta blamed herself for Regina's condition. As Ladyhawk she began a vendetta against Hobgoblin, and eventually confronted her father about Hobgoblin's actions leading him to send his gang to attack the costumed villain.

Silhouette Chord is a descendant of the Dragon's Breadth cult, which spent centuries trying to master the Well of All Things, a hidden interdimensional mystic energy breach in Cambodia. The cultists mated selectively to produce children who could better tap the Well's power. Over 20 years ago, ruthless cult leader Tai captured and coerced an American military unit into a pact to marry the cult's specially bred "Daughters of the Dragon" (including Tai's daughter Miyami) and produce powerful children. The already married Daryl Taylor refused, but the other soldiers agreed, including Andrew Chord, who married Miyami and took her to America. Miyami soon bore twins, but faked their deaths and her own so Tai could not exploit them. To replace these children in the pact, Tia mystically forced Chord to kill his friends the Taylors and take custody of their son, Dwayne. Meanwhile, Miyami abandoned her infant twins in New York's Chinatown, where they grew up as the mystical mutant orphans Midnight's Fire and Silhouette. They joined the Concrete Dragons street gang, but rival gang the Poison Memories killed off most of the Concrete Dragons; Memories leader Kimeiko Ashu offered to spare the Dragons if 14 year-old Silhouette became his concubine, but she refused.

In their late teens, Fire and Silhouette were anti-gang vigilantes allied with adventurer Night Thrasher (Dewayne Taylor), who became Silhouette's lover; however, during a bust gone awry, Silhouette was shot by a gangster while Thrasher restrained Fire from attacking an interfering policeman. Blaming Taylor, Fire went into hiding with Silhouette who lost the use of her legs. Fire later rebuilt the Concrete Dragons street gang until Taylor's New Warriors brought him to justice. Silhouette disowned her brother, reconciled with Taylor and joined the New Warriors, who eventually destroyed Tai, the Well and the cult, though not before Tai killed Miyami. Having discovered her true parentage, Silhouette sought a relationship with her father Chord, while Fire and most of the other pact offspring formed the criminal Folding Circle.

After briefly falling under the sway of the shadow-powered lunatic Darkling, Silhouette developed enhanced powers; however, she and Taylor drifted apart, and they broke up after he learned she had secretly maintained ties with Fire's Concrete Dragons, trying to keep them out of trouble. Taylor was further estranged when Silhouette began a torrid love affair with his shady half-brother Bandit, who has long pursued a hateful vendetta against Taylor. Silhouette ultimately quit the Warriors to explore her powers, herself, and her relationship with Bandit, though Bandit has since romanced New Orleans Assassins Guild leader Bella Donna.

Monica Rambeau's Trivia:

Monica Rambeau's creator, Roger Stern, gradually gave prominence to the character in his long-term run in the Avengers series, ultimately making her the leader of the team. Such a decision conflicted with editor Mark Gruenwald's plans of characterizing Captain America as the competent leader of the group. Gruenwald planned to portray Captain America as a more efficient leader than Captain Marvel, a decision that Stern refused to perform, leading him to abandon the Avengers book in issue #387. Subsequent writers followed Gruenwald's suggestions and Captain Marvel was depicted as an unexperienced and limited leader. The character was eventually written off of the book in issue #394. Tragically, the original allegory for the character explored how a black woman found herself unable to level her rank up as a Harbor Patrol Officer despite her competence but met recognition and equity with the Avengers. However, in the end, she turned out to be underestimated in the Avengers as well.

Rambeau has changed her codename twice because of Genis-Vell, the son of the original Captain Marvel. Accepting that Genis-Vell had rights over his father's legacy, Rambeau adopted the name Photon. After Genis-Vell began going by Photon, Rambeau contemplated calling herself Pulsar.

A photon ([ˈfoʊ.tɑːn] FOH-ton) is an elementary particle corresponding to a quantum of light or any other type of electromagnetic radiation. The codename was chosen by Rambeau for being considered as well-suited to correspond to her abilities. The name was mocked once by Aaron Stack, who defined it as an insignificant and undetectable particle.

Pulsar ([ˈpʌl.sɑːɹ] PUHL-sahr) stands for "pulsating radio source" and designate compact stars that emit beams of electromagnetic radiation out of their magnetic poles. Rambeau contemplated adopting Pulsar as her superhero's name, although she has never been effectively referred to by it.

The name spectrum ([ˈspek.tɹəm] SPEK-trəm) refers to the electromagnetic spectrum, i.e., the range of frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. The name, similarly to "photon", is a direct reference to Rambeau's power set.

Spectrum was once considered to be an Alpha-Level Threat by Captain America (Sam Wilson) and Tony Stark.

Captain Monica Rambeau is the daughter of the late Maria Rambeau. During her childhood, she befriended Carol Danvers, a friend of her mother, and refused to believe the reports that Danvers had died in a mysterious plane crash. Rambeau was amazed and happy when Danvers returned six-years later with considerable abilities and convinced her own mother to join Danvers in a mission to help Talos to save Skrull refugees from Kree forces.

Before the mission, Rambeau helped Danvers to choose the colors of her outfit which she would, later on, use as Captain Marvel.

Crossing the Hex's barrier multiple times caused Rambeau's DNA to be rewritten over and over resulting in her developing superhuman abilities. After the Westview crisis was solved Rambeau was recruited by a Skrull who informed her that a friend of her mother learned of Monica's new powers and now wanted her to join them in outer space for an important mission.

Storm was formerly in a serious relationship with Forge.

Storm was originally conceived by Dave Cockrum as "the Black Cat", a character who could transform into a feline creature or a house cat. The character was shelved for a time, along with the rest of new X-Men project, and ultimately made redundant by the large number of cat-themed characters that had been introduced in the interim. When the project resumed, it was decided that the team needed another female character, and Roy Thomas suggested replacing the weather-controlling Typhoon with a female equivalent. Cockrum then quickly outline the idea for Storm, leaving the Black Cat costume unchanged but changing the character's hair from brunette to white.

The name "Ororo" means "Beauty"

During the DC Vs Marvel crossover event, Storm was pitted against Wonder Woman of the DC Universe. While Wonder Woman had the advantage in the fight when it came to combat, Storm basically was able to electrocute Wonder Woman with her use of weather manipulation. In doing so, she expressed regret for her actions, calling Wonder Woman her sister and picking her up and carrying her off the field of battle.

In the Marvel Comics limited series GeNext, Ororo is the mother of a daughter, Becka Munroe.

Being the first black female character to have a major role in Marvel Comics, Storm is a historically important character. She is one of the most iconic and successful black characters in comic book history.

The Rains Down in Africa

The daughter of a rebellious Kenyan princess, N’Dare, and an American photographer, David Munroe, Ororo was born in Harlem in New York, though her family relocated to Cairo, Egypt when she was six months old. A few years later, N’Dare and David were tragically killed when a plane crashed into their house. Though she survived the event, Ororo would develop claustrophobia due to her time trapped in the rubble of her home. Left an orphan to wander the streets, Ororo picked pockets and stole to survive.

Ororo eventually left Egypt and headed south on foot with the goal of reaching her ancestral homeland. After almost dying while crossing the Sahara, Ororo’s latent mutant powers manifested, allowing her to save a kidnapped Prince T’Challa. Afterward, her time wandering the Serengeti as a young woman, bringing rain to those in dire need, transformed her into a worshipped “goddess” among local tribes.

After working with Ororo to defeat fellow weather manipulator Deluge, Professor Xavier asked her to join a new version of the X-Men; one which would help rescue the original team from the living island of Krakoa. She accepted and was given the code name Storm.

The Perfect Storm

Along with being a highly skilled fighter and thief, Storm has the ability to control the elemental forces that preside over weather. Immune to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, she can create winds strong enough to support her weight, giving her the ability to fly. Storm draws her power from the Earth’s electromagnetic field, allowing her to generate lightning, tornados, blizzards, and massive maelstroms. At times, she’s been able to control the air in someone’s lungs and the air pressure in a person’s inner ear.

Storm has a deep psychic bond to the life force of Earth itself - a connection that creates empathy within her toward life everywhere, big and small. Storm comes from a centuries-long line of African priestesses, all of whom possessed distinctive white hair, blue eyes, and powerful “magic.” During their attempt to thwart Deluge, it was Charles Xavier who told her that her powers stem from being a mutant.

Losing her parents so young forced Ororo into the early life of scavenging and isolation, thus making the friends she is connected to as an adult all the more significant.

After Ororo joined the X-Men, Jean Grey was the first to reach out to her, helping her acclimate and adjust to Western culture. Jean also discovered Storm’s claustrophobia and did her best to help her friend overcome her panic attacks.

Despite inventing the weapon that robbed her of her powers at one point, Forge was able to win Ororo over and the two of them remained a complicated romantic couple for a time before that relationship came to an end.

Storm would later become the Queen of Wakanda after marrying the warrior she’d met in her youth, T’Challa. The two were a formidable couple until their harsh split after Namor and the Atlanteans devastated Wakanda.

Joining, and in many cases leading, groups like the X-Men, the Morlocks, and the New Mutants has provided Storm with many close friends and allies, including Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Gambit, Colossus, and numerous others. One friend in particular, the free-spirited ninja Yukio, has influenced Storm’s appearance, as Ororo cut her hair into a distinctive mohawk after meeting Yukio in Japan.

A decorated New York City police officer, Misty Knight found herself in a new line of work after a terrorist bomb left her without a right arm. However, thanks to friends like Tony Stark, who gave her a bionic replacement, and Colleen Wing, who encouraged her to keep helping people, Knight persevered and became one of the most well-respected heroes around. Not only can she beat just about anyone in a fair fight, but she can get just about anyone on the phone to help out.

Misty Knight left the NYPD after losing her arm in an explosion, but her hero days would continue beyond that. Thanks to the bionic arm from Tony Stark and her partnership with Colleen Wing, she became the go-to person for people in need of help as a part of Knightwing Restorations, the Daughters of the Dragon, Heroes for Hire, and The Defenders.

Misty Knight was first in her class at the police academy, was awarded the Medal of Honor by the NYPD. She is an excellent shot. Tough as nails, Misty hones her martial arts skills to become a renowned hand-to-hand combatant. Her bionic arm receives a variety of technological upgrades over the years (thanks to Tony Stark and Reed Richards), making it super strong and hard to break. It also features repulsor rays and other built-in enhancements.

Between her roles as a police officer and Super Hero, Misty Knight runs afoul of more than her fair share of criminals.

While hanging out with Iron Fist the first time around, she takes on the Wrecking Crew, Boomerang, Bushmaster, and Davos. With the Heroes for Hire, she goes against Nightshade, Sabretooth, and Constrictor. More recently, she inspires Sam Wilson to take out the Hydra Captain America and plenty of his other villains.

Misty Knight's one-time partner Rafael Scarfe acts as source inside the NYPD for years, but eventually he goes off the rails when Daredevil takes over the Hand.

Her sisterly relationship with Colleen Wing, though sometimes rocky, remains strong over the years.

Misty also develops close relationships with Iron Fist and Sam Wilson. She fights alongside Spider-Man, Wolverine, the X-Men, the Heroes for Hire, Paladin, Valkyrie, and the Defenders. Few people have as impressive of a rolodex as she does.

T'Challa is heir to the centuries-old ruling dynasty of the African kingdom Wakanda and ritual leader of its Panther Clan. During the early days of the Mutant-Human War, Wakanda did its best to remain neutral; however, due to Wakanda's congenial relations with the United States, some mutants took it upon themselves to make a statement by attacking the Wakandan Royal Family. During one such attempt, T'Challa was saved by a mutant girl named Ororo. The two fell in love and T'Challa asked for her hand in marriage, but she declined.

In time, the Mutant-Human War ended and Magneto was victorious. T'Challa, now king of Wakanda, was taught by his father to think two steps ahead of enemies and three steps ahead of friends. Seeing the world's mutant population as a potential threat to Wakanda, T'Challa invited Magnus to his country. They established a treaty, but it is one neither man truly believes in. T'Challa is currently drumming up support for a possible coup attempt with other world leaders against Magneto. He knows it is not a matter of if, but rather when Magneto attacks him and his beloved country, Wakanda.

Trivia:

T'Challa is also the primary funder of the Mutants Sans Frontières; an organization that is dedicated to the protection of mutant rights, which also funds the X-Men's activities.

Black Panther was once referred to as the "Black Leopard" for a short time in 1972. Both in-universe and out-of-universe, it was changed to distance themselves from the group of the same name, though in-universe, T'Challa explains that he neither condemns nor condones their actions and that, technically, a leopard is a panther.

The character predates the party of the same name, but not the Black Panther logo, which was used by the party's predecessor, and by segregated World War II Black Panthers Tank Battalion. Stan Lee had denied that the character was named after these movements, which began being used after the character's creation, and cited it simply as "a strange coincidence".

Black Panther was ranked 51st on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes in 2011.

T'Challa was two times Time magazine's "Person of the Year" and six-times People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive."

Black Panther is a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire. He even threatened Deadpool's life when Wade speculated the ending of the series during a battle with him out of fear Deadpool might have actually spoiled it.

Early Years

First, the radiation somehow affected Susan Richards' body in such a way as to give her serious difficulties in giving birth. For unknown reasons, soon before she was to give birth to Franklin, Susan Richards' blood cells were observed to be carrying a strange form of energy that threatened the lives of both herself and the baby. Presumably, this energy effect is linked with Susan Richards' superhuman powers over energy that enable her to become invisible and to create force fields.

The cosmic radiation that had given Reed and Susan Richards their superhuman powers also resulted in affecting the genetic structure of their son: Franklin was born a mutant. Unlike most superhuman mutants, whose unusual powers do not emerge until the mutant reaches puberty, Franklin began manifesting his superhuman powers at a very early age. The very first indication of his powers was shown when the Frightful Four had beaten the Fantastic Four, as a toddler Franklin Richards used this power to wake up the Thing and this allowed the Fantastic Four to achieve victory.

A powerful reality warper, he was one of the most powerful beings in the universe even at a young age. Franklin was long-time believed to be a mutant when in reality his own powers had caused him to subconsciously alter his anatomy to make it seem like he had an X-Gene.

Franklin used his god-like abilities to help restore the Multiverse following its collapse due to the incursion crisis, but as a result, he was ultimately depleted of most of his powers. Franklin saved up the remaining of his divinity for emergencies only, and finally became fully depowered after taking a stand against the alien Cormorant. With his powers gone, the simulated X-Gene was also gone, and Franklin stopped being a mutant.

Powers

Psychic Abilities: Franklin has vast psychic powers, able to telepathically probe others and/or render them unconscious.

Psionic Defense: Franklin's psionic powers enable him to release painful psychic bursts, project explosive energy blasts, and levitate.

Matter Manipulation: Alongside Franklin's psychic blasts, he can emit a dynamic force and manipulate matter to stabilize the sun or turn a Celestial assault into flowers.

Cosmic-level powers: Franklin has the cosmic-level ability to transform reality but has little over this power, creating pocket universes subconsciously.

Notes:

Franklin's age, which is the subject of much controversy within the Marvel Comics Scaling Timeline, has never been fully stated, although often joked about or hinted at.

Franklin was five years old during Onslaught's actions.

Franklin's eighth birthday was celebrated in 4 #1.

Tom Brevoort has stated that, in the real world year of 2014, he was eight years old.

Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters are Franklin's godparents.

While on Krakoa, Franklin expelled less energy, making his power loss slower than normal at the time. Krakoa has been known to react to mutant energies, and as Franklin isn't a mutant, it is unknown why this occurred.

According to History of the Marvel Universe, Franklin Richards is supposed to survive the end of his universe and pass on to the next, like Galactus before him. The One Below All (possessing Bruce Banner) confirmed that this is his intended destiny in a possible future, calling him the "appointed prince."

The One Below All states that Mister Immortal is Franklin's "back up" in case Franklin could not make it.

Trivia:

While Spider-Man has been believed to be Franklin's favorite superhero, he secretly favors whom he and Leech consider the strongest one they know, the Invisible Woman.

Cyclops (notes):

1. Following a childhood head trauma, Cyclops is unable to shut off his optic blasts at will and must therefore wear a visor, glasses, or contacts with ruby quartz lenses that block the beams.

2. Emma Frost once indicated the psychological trauma of losing his parents and being separated from his brother are primarily responsible for his inability to control his powers.

3. Scott frequently listens to the radio, and even worked as a DJ for some time.

4. At first, the only people who knew about Emma Frost's deception surrounding Cyclops' death were Cyclops' brother Havok, Magneto, the Inhuman Mosaic, and Cyclops' time-displaced younger self. The latter was so angry over this revelation that he lashed out at Emma Frost the moment the next time he encountered her. Young Cyclops later revealed Emma's deception to the rest of the X-Men and Inhumans.

5. It was erroneously stated in the first print of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe that Cyclops' eyes contain inter-dimensional apertures, releasing powerful energies from another dimension into his own via the beams. Later accounts state that Scott's body naturally metabolizes ambient energy that is used to open and focus the apertures on his eyes. The energy of the beam itself originates from this other dimension. This explanation, however, was later changed for subsequent prints.

6. Iceman disliked Cyclops' inability to socialize with his fellow X-Men. In his view, Cyclops was a grouch who thought that smiling or having fun was sinful.

7. Cyclops rarely smiled during his early years with the X-Men. When seeing Cyclops smile, Angel noted to himself that this was the first time he had seen Cyclops smile in months.

8. During a search for Magneto's base, the Beast was almost killed in a fall from a height. Cyclops expressed more concern over an expensive camera which the Beast was holding than Beast's safety. The Beast took note of Cyclops' lack of concern for him.

9. Scott has exhibited many symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stating that for hobbies and pastimes he has to avoid "anything that involves problem solving, strategy, or obsessive repetition of a practiced skill", and once playing horseshoes for 27 hours straight until Iceman came out and pulled all of the stakes out of the ground.
