A couple of relatives of mine have stopped walking around almost completely because of non disability related issues and the not walking around at all is making them disabled.

Like, get up and move around some. You don’t need to be a star athlete. Just pace around your dining table or dance to an album or something. You don’t even need to leave the house. Just use it before you lose it.

I made some major corrections for the last Rocky Recovery info dump, but here's the relevant supplementary material:

Rocky requires gravity for his entire eating process, which lasts at least 3 hours. There are big problems if the Hail Mary was in microgravity, but it isn't. It's just in a lower gravity than Rocky's used to on Erid. Short term there shouldn't be any problem, but there would be repercussions to 4+ years of incision and healing of the abdomen fissure under lesser gravity.

Grace and Rocky could have averted this problem if they turned on the centrifuge to 2.03 g every time Rocky ate, but it's such a tedious and energy consuming process that they probably wouldn't bother. I don't think Rocky would've noticed the difference in gravity affecting their eating anyways, and if he did he wouldn't be willing to subject Grace to more Situations(even more gravity) than strictly necessary. It's only obvious in zero g because, well, no gravity.

The result is a weaker immune system and a struggle to kill deadly pathogens from his biosphere. Ergo Rocky's immunocompromised, ergo major problems with his digestive system. By the time Rocky actually feels this backlash, which is maybe a couple months until arrival to threeworld, I think he would just power through the pain. Between Grace and Rocky at least one of the two has to be as stable as possible.

Ryland Grace's complete and utter refusal of any kind of introspection you will always be famous to me. That man has sooo many doubts but has never once questioned himself. He looks back on his complete and utter inability to participate in a close relationship of any kind and shrugs. not his problem. literally why would that be indicative of anything. stratt has to lock him in her office and put his issues against the literal apocalypse to even mention his avoidant tendencies and he doesn't even get that memory back until the last 100 pages. He would sit there wondering idly if he could convince Rocky to do his appendectomy for him and think that was a very normal reaction. just two dudes stuck together on a spaceship obviously they both have some kind of immediate panic response when the other isn't completely within their perception at all times. this is normal. don't think about it. obviously he's anxious to reach Erid, he's making contact with a whole alien civilisation. don't think about it. was he really that lonely on earth? don't think about it. who is he now that he's lost so much of himself and been through so many things? don't think about it. redo the math on the projected course. play solitaire. watch movies. talk about human culture things that are far from you and who you were. pretend it doesn't scare you when he sleeps too long. don't think about it. don't think about it. don't-
