"I ate you alive, and you have the temerity to tell me that you’re sorry?" is an underrated line from the pool scene IMO because it connects so tragically with the Great Griddlehark Mismatch, which is that all Gideon wants is to be eaten and all Harrow wants is to never eat Gideon again.

In her most pivotal moment, Harrow confesses her two greatest sins. The second, of course, was that she rolled the rock and walked onto that icy shore, but the first was how she used Gideon. How she isolated her, abused her, relagated her to a life of abject misery, made her both a whipping girl and a meat pumpkin. Harrow ate Gideon's childhood and she ate Gideon's future and she only truly came to regret this after it was too late.

"i gave you my whole life and you didn't even want it" like, yeah. Harrow didn't want it. Harrow wanted to give it back.

its crazy how some names last forever and some dont. we had marcus antonius and guys today are still named mark or anthony. we had ten million english kings named charles or james or william and we still have those. hannibal was a carthaginian general and it couldve last longer as a name if it wasnt for hannibal the cannibal. but no guys are named gaius or octavius anymore. so many names are now considered old people names bc theyre not popular anymore. how do names go out of style or last so long like what the hell

RED RISING TRILOGY

I had heard so much about his series and always good things but it was honestly somewhere on the backburner of my TBR radar. I have so many books I have purchased and not read that I just don’t commit to anything anymore. But I was in a slump and looking for a sci-fi read…something along the lines of The Loneliest Girl in the Universe.

BUT HOLY SHIT.

“I would have lived in peace but my enemies brought me war.”

When I realized this was the opening line, I dived headfirst into the book because I just knew shit was gonna hit the fan in the most epic fashion…and I was not disappointed. Like, at all. 

I practically inhaled this series…took me all of 3-4 days and I only took breaks to sleep (if I absolutely had to, duh) or other moral obligations that could not be rescinded. It had been so long since I’d done that so this is now one of my favourite series to ever exist.

The writing? Brilliant. The plot? Fucking hell. The characters? I had palpitations constantly. This series went from high school Hunger Games to all out war over the course of three books and I loved every single moment. The characters each have their individual conflict but their relationships are so thoroughly intertwined at all times, it’s freaking amazing. The sequels have throwbacks to all kinds of moments. The worldbuilding is mind blowing. Side characters? Relevant and just as badass as the main characters. 

Basically Greek mythology with a huge dose of politics and a dash of heartbreak and treachery and strategy thrown in for good measure. I never knew I could love something so much.

jo march really was like. i love the people around me and i cannot cope with them leaving and being mature and appealing enough to start new chapters in their lives while i'm still clinging into this idealised, carefree, comedy-like lifestyle i thought was gonna last forever. and i really thought platonic relationships could replace my repressed longing for a romantic one but now all my loved ones' first priorities became romance. meanwhile i cannot put myself out seeking a romantic relationship because that would automatically mean altering, belittleing, objectifying and compromising myself, my life would become a cliche with guaranteed unhappy ending because i feel like no one in this world could truly make me happy. and i do want to embrace my independent, single lifestyle but i guess i didnt calculate back then how lonely it's going to feel. it's like my only choice is between two types of unhappiness. jo march conveyed all this stuff and i'm not supposed to tear up just thinking about that goddamn movie???
