DAMN DISNEY! back at it again with the positive messages

so i just saw zootopia and you should too and here’s why

animals are culturally split into a predator/prey duality that productively explores gender and racial conflict, ie:

prey parents telling their daughter that she can’t be a police officer because prey never have been and it’s not safe

said daughter being called a diversity hire & treated like it

“progressive” people who still show prejudice

genuine friendship across the predator/prey divide, but both having internalized prejudice and coming to terms with/apologizing for it

predators randomly becoming violent, which is blamed on their “biology”– eg they were violent before, we’ve evolved, but that’s probably where it’s coming from

this & the resulting fear all ends up being caused & exploited by a politician to stay in power

really direct stuff like 

“see, a rabbit can call another rabbit ‘cute’ but when other animals do it it’s kindaaaa”

“you’re very articulate for a predator”

“it’s so fluffy-” “DONT TOUCH HER HAIR”

“you’re not a predator like them” “so now there’s a them”

all of these are called out and it’s genuinely just a super positive portrayal of overcoming stereotypes and fear of the other & acknowledging/dealing with prejudice in all its different forms

Please don’t ever make fun of gamers that:

Prefer the newer titles to the older ones

Use walkthroughs

Can never bring themselves to finish certain games

Only like mobile games

Only play through a game once then never again

Makes the same decisions every time they replay an RPG or another decision-based game

Only plays Nintendo games

Only plays certain genres

Watch playthroughs on YouTube

Play on easy

Only likes one game in a series

Doesn’t know or understand all the lore

Making fun of them doesn’t make you better than them, it only makes you an asshole

For anyone thinking #Savewoy is a hopeless endeavor

I think we actually have a really good chance considering the circumstances behind Wander’s Cancellation! 

Unlike some shows that are ended due to malicious intent, low ratings, and other such things, the Executives decided to end Wander because they thought 80 episodes was enough. their decision was made at a time when the great things that came about in season two hadn’t occurred, The Greater Hater hadn’t aired and been Wander’s biggest premiere ever, the Annies hadn’t occurred and they hadn’t won the award for best animated television/broadcast production for children’s cartoon, My Fair Hatey hadn’t aired and the internet hadn’t fallen in love with the songs and Dominator, in hindsight of the monumental success of season two, their decision seems very misguided and ignorant, if we can get them to realize that, they might realize what an opportunity they have at their fingertips with season 3!

So as I’ve been saying! 

Be Polite

Stay Positive

and try your very best, and together, we just might save wander over Yonder!

Also yo, to the Wanderers out there.

The majority (if not all) of Wander Over Yonder is available on iTunes. Petitions and stuff are great, but let’s storm the net and buy as many episodes as we can to really show a surge.

If they see they’re getting something PROFITABLE out of this, they might be willing to reconsider.

Might be far too late, but it never hurts to try.

Pretty sure Star VS will end as well after the second season. Disney seems to have a thing with ending their quality shows after two seasons (I know GF was Alex’s own decision but still)

abt the death threat thing; one person threatened to in the tag, then a few minutes later had removed the post and posted an apology abt the post and the idea of it; as far as i know, nobody else has said anything similar. so, rest easy! i havent seen anything abt someone seriously sending death threats or even hate mail; everybody who has plans to write letters ive seen has also been cordial. hope that clears stuff up! :>
