Surprise, surprise.. I’m back on Classpass! After reviewing my Equinox gym membership and receiving a price increase in my monthly dues, it made more sense for me to return to Classpass. Despite the price increases and changing to the credit model, Classpass is more of a value to me at this moment. If you’re interested in giving Classpass a chance, click here for $40 off any plan you choose.
Since leaving Classpass just over a year ago, monthly prices have increased, classes are booked with credits, and wellness treatments have joined the lineup. I actually like that wellness is now bookable through Classpass! I’ve found that if I have extra credits remaining for the month, instead of losing them.. I could treat myself to a relaxing massage or accupuncture. Another new feature is to CP is being able to carry over 10 points into the next month.
Signature Massage or Facial at Red & White Spa Midtown
I’ve received a massage and facial at Red & White Spa Midtown outside of Classpass and have the spa on my list of favorites. I’m thrilled to see that the spa is now being offered on Classpass! It only requires 38 credits, which I consider an awesome deal. I’ve always left Red & White Spa Midtown feeling relaxed and refreshed after my treatments!
Hydrating Facial at Nice Brow
Nice Brow is a day spa with no frills. The treatment rooms are actual rooms but are separated by curtains, so don’t be surprised if you hear another treatment happening nearby. I had Fiona as my specialist and I couldn’t recommend her enough! The facial and extractions were thorough, while the head massage was divine. Since my skin reacted to the facial well and for the amount of credits this costs, I’d definitely come back — it’s such deal!
Reiki with Sanctuary Acupuncture & Holistic Health
I’ve received reiki during Urban Zen and Restorative classes before and have enjoyed it so I was curious to give the hour-long treatment a try. Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation. Therapists can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, activating the natural healing processes and restores physical and emotional well-being. The treatment started with the burning of sage, which is believed to help cleanse and heal. Sarah, my therapist at Sanctuary Acupuncture and Holistic Health, began reiki at the top of my body and made her way down. The hour went by so fast and I left feeling relaxed! Highly recommend if you’re in need of a little bit of TLC.
Cupping with City Acupuncture
Cupping is an alternative therapy in which a therapist puts suction cups on your skin for a few minutes. You’ve probably seen the marks the cups leave behind on athletes as this therapy was popular during the last summer Olympics. The suction helps with pain, inflammation, blood flow, and acts as a type of deep-tissue massage. The therapy itself doesn’t hurt, but the suction does create a strange sensation. City Acupuncture does all their treatments in a large, general room with partitions between the treatment spaces, but you’re never actually in your own space and you can see everyone else getting their treatments. Once you get over not having privacy the therapists and treatments are great. I had cups placed all over my back and found that the cups left marks on my lower back, where a lot of the initial blockages I was feeling. The marks don’t hurt and they’re not actually bruises, but an indication of where stagnation was occurring in my body.
