She was right though. He would never be like his father. Every day of his life he tries to be like him, but it never worked out. He would never be him.

"I have control."

He muttered through clenched teeth. The wind raced a bit harder, but he couldn’t make it stop. Not when he was this angry, but he stopped himself from making it any more dangerous.

"Hiding your emotions from the world is not control. It just makes you a heartless bitch.”

"We are not talking about me. Because I know what shoving my emotions away does, Zatann! I'm alone and I'm hated and I love someone and I can't even express it because I don't know how, and that isn't control either, but at least I channel my problems into good things like target practice and learning to cook not brainwashing people into doing what I think is the best thing. That is what insane people do." She clenched her own fists, tightened her own jaw until her teeth were gritting and grinding, "You have the illusion of control. The same way I do."

He was angry now. He was angry to the point of making the wind around them pick up with his rising temper.

"My father never loss control. He was control. If he can control himself so can I.”

"You will never be your father!" Shana shouted at him, slamming her hand down on the closest flat surface. "You can't be Doctor Fate. You can't be God." She pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to look at him through her own rage. "You are temperamental and emotional and emotion is fundamentally not control."

"Believe it or not, I’m not the only person who makes that call. I have orders- I’m sent out on missions. I do what I’m told unless I don’t agree with it, and I do what I want. So if you have a problem with that, take it up with the League.”

"The League isn't your line if you don't even listen to them unless it suits you!" She threw her hands out wide, as though she was gesturing to his lack of a point. "You're going to get out of control. That's how power works."
