idk how ppl don't get that izuku being a teacher is actually the PERFECT ending to his story. that's literally what it means to be a HERO to him!!!!! his favorite hero - FUCKASS ALL FUCKING MIGHT - was his TEACHER. his whole story has been marked with SAVING and INSPIRING kids EVEN SINCE HIMSELF WAS A KID!!!!! his whole fight with shigaraki was about finding tenko, a kid that needed help, inside him. being teacher is being a hero. that's what izuku was learning all along.
agree but also its just really unfortunate and sad because i just feel like hes SETTLING. like. yeah hes meant to be a teacher now but there was once a time. like i dont care whay anybody says hes literally crying himself to sleep every night wanting to be the best hero still
I see both sides genuinely I do but all might wasnt his hero because he was his teacher, all might was his teacher because he was a hero, and then he became HIS hero.
I think its a good narrative wrap up from a birds eye perspective, giving the moral that “teachers are the greatest heros of them all”, ect. but I wont lie that it feels deeply unsatisfying to me because the way Izukus character was set up was that he’d literally destroy himself to save peoples lives. He wants to be the best, to save them all, and now he cant. And I imagine every time he sees someone being hurt or suffering on TV he thinks back to when he could help them, because suffering doesnt end now that Shigaraki is gone.
I honestly kinda wish even if he did have to lose his power in the end that he had gone into something like fire fighting or medical and maybe taught on the side. I just feel like that would read a little more about the narrative that anyone can be a hero. Not that teachers aren’t heros, they are, but in a different way. I would love to see him out there still saving lives even though he’s powerless now, because he’s not really powerless, because hes Izuku, and he was a hero before he had powers, and he’s a hero now.
sorry for the ramble i did not think i was going to write an essay on this lolol but i agree with @kelisewrites i just know in my heart of hearts that boy is hurting every time he sees someone he no longer has the power to save.
yessss ur spot on because ofc teachers are heros and vice versa but him not doing anything hero related is kind of insane i just feel like it completely contradicts izukus character (and literally the whole show)
like it was so evident SO SO early on that he would do anything to become a hero regardless of a quirk. like him becoming quirkless fine but im surprised they didnt just have him be a hero anyway?? like hes strong without it + the idea of support gear and all of that.
dont get me wrong him being a teacher is perfect but like its just insanely unsatisfying??? lousy almost?? i understand at his age morals and dreams change and grow to have new meanings but WHAT WAS IT ALL FOR!!!
sorry i keep going on and on about this but i am angry genuinely
but ngl i am NOT caught up on any of the timeskip manga nor the actual show and ive seen so many ‘timeskip’ manga thats just been fake so i really dk whats going on there with him being quirkless and everything so maybe ill update my opinion once i am…
