When I did bouldering there was a part of me that enjoyed falling off the wall more than I did climbing up it which should say something about me and how I probably need to go Bungee Jumping or Skydiving or something..
Anyone here wanna help me find the original image of this shitpost?
Was made April 2021 if the narrows things down at all. We have no context for this image and I really wanna know where it came from. Pretty sure it's traced from something.
Thoughts on me (GM) introducing my important NPCs as if they're just people milling about the city so by the time my players realise they're important they had no clue they were talking to then the whole time?
okay so i've sen alot of ppl talking about how the comparisons of D3rlord3 to Light Yagami are baseless and wrong and whatever that's your opinion but i see these ppl saying theres only a few moments where we see him do anything smart at all (solving the cipher and the "double" trap) so i thought I'd put together a post sharing all the moments i noticed. and what i think his thought process might have been when going through this.
mind you i'm taking this from the footage from the google drive and am likely to miss some.
in the cave: he uses the excuse of being confused/in awe of the trees to pause and listen for footsteps.
the excuse of collecting torches to backtrack and try to see who's following him.
and of course noticing the lack of ore.
in the first forest: he keeps looking around I'm sure that part of that is genuine awe but i wouldn't be surprised if its again to see who's following.
he gathers supplies and collects the ones he leaves behind.
hes also noticing anything out of the ordinary within the strangeness like when he notices a lone dirt block among the grass and mines it and the stone beneath. noticing again that theres still no ore.
he looks around the trees to see how their built.
at the first hallway he stops and backtracks to press the buttons he notices to see if they do anything.
the true beauty of the traps are that he narrates them in chat as he already suspects they are reading them so in truth its more like 3 traps.
during the second forest after swimming up from the lake i'm not sure if people realize how fast he moves through that. like hes switching his perspective and running through the trees when hes looking at the signs and during that its clear he already suspects that they are reading his chat messages because when he points the signs out he doesn't send it in chat.
also after setting the traps are when he turns on the direction and coordinates in the top corner.
the signs he has also clearly memorized where they are as after seeing the third he places a sand block next to it (which is a drastically different colour from the stone floor and oak trees) before backtracking to one of the other signs and from that one to the last.
i think he bought himself time by not immediately pointing out the signs in chat and instead only remarking on it once he solved their purpose. that way his return to the traps were ambiguous while not stopping his talking completely.
then of course theres turning the difficulty to peaceful to not starve.
also his return to the traps, the first thing he sees are the grass blocks. and i believe that he places the extra sand around those blocks to disguise the grass blocks too so that they aren't just the only "pointless" blocks he placed. he sees the grass blocks first but doesn't stop and doesn't comment till he looks at the other trap.
afterwards he looks at one sign before immediately heading to where they were pointing and looking for clues.
it also isn't shown in the youtube video but he blocks up the hole under the tree.
once he realizes its a labyrinth (pretty quickly too) he marks off the entrance. i don't know exactly what his strategy is for solving just that he does it quite fast by jump running through and marking his path and it takes him about 7 minutes.
from there he enters the cipher room and fiddles with switches (starting, of course, with the far left before moving to the other 2) and when nothing happens he turns his attention to the cipher on the wall.
after saying hes getting paper/pen he walls off the entrance before moving back to the cipher and the video ends.
footage 2 starts like wifies says with D3rlord3 just staring and presumably working on the cipher for 17:10 minutes. (6:18 he comments "this isn't trivial" and "you really put in effort here didn't you") once he mines through he also walls the gate back up to how it was before and then moving on.
in the village my best guess for his strategy is to search the buildings of interest first and look through all of the chest and storage pieces. he also closes almost every door behind him when he enters and exits, i assume so his movements are harder to track and so that he can hear if he's being followed.
through the last hallway, while he doesn't wall it off he does continue to glance behind and to pause at random moments i assume to listen for footsteps behind him.
47:32-48:05 these are the time stamps of when he stares through the door and the censor bar appears. so ik alot of people are saying he tanked 15 seconds but in reality he tanked about 33 seconds.
and finally the code he leaves for Avery in the notebook. i forgot to count exactly but he only looked at the new inventory he got about 4-5 times. and only REALLY looked at it that final time for about 10 seconds before typing the code. and he typed that code without another look at his inventory.
So! those are all my observations and moments i believe really show his intelligence. i'm sure not many people will see it but i just had to post this lol i couldn't stand by and watch ppl slander my dudes name.
i really recommend you go and watch the drive footage for yourself! the link is https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Zv7eBKziKf5Rb_IhlFNFxMizdhn3lYwk and if you're having the same problem i was where it was giving me an error of it being viewed and downloaded too many times i recommend following the instructions of this article
also small sidenote, in my humble opinion i do believe he was compelled to keep searching and to keep going. as while searching the village he often pauses to stare at the statue like ALOT. sometimes it felt like instead of moving to investigate the statue he was moving to simply get a better view, it was very strange for a character who very rarely simply stops for no reason especially for the lengths of time he would with the statue.
and after he reads the book in the hidden basement that warns him he does leave. he gets out, turns around and exits the house. but then...he stops. stops, stares, starts heading back into the house before staring back towards the town before ultimately double blocking himself into the basement.
Interacting with CR4 stuff is so funny because 90% of the characters are breasting boobily with high charisma but everyone just decided to pick up the anxious cat and put him in their pockets.
Dang, what an episode XD The wait to season 2 will be so hard!
I was wondering if the music video would be the new ED (not the new OP, like people thought), and well, maybe! Or maybe it's just a special thing for Episode 24/a teaser for season 2, where we'll learn more about Nine, ????/maybe 0, and see all the heroes, including rebuilt(?) Nice, interacting with the goop enemies. It could still be the new OP for season 2, who knows! Alas, we got... mostly no answers to anything presented there, but hey, it's still a great music video!
So Moon is declared dead by some, anyway, and Treeman reached an agreement with Lin Ling to seek justice, which is interesting. Later in the episode, we seemingly see Ghostblade attacking E-Soul on the deserted island beach, so it's not clear if that's just a transition to Ghostblade's section or him actually attacking E-Soul there, and why. Are he and Lin Ling allied now, working against MG? Is that why Lin Ling stuck with Treeman, to avenge Moon, since Shang De also wants to destroy Rock?
Dragon Boy looks okay in 3D. Maybe I'll adjust to it more next season. I get some folks really love the 3D, but sorry, I am not one of them. Dragon Boy is also, sadly, one of the better new 3D models.
Strictly working only your required hours is a good, excellent goal, and more people should follow it. Obviously it's not possible for many, but for at least some it is definitely possible. Your job is not your life. Be more like X!
I wonder why people only selectively remember him. Even in his PV, people seemed to be sort of vaguely aware of him, even as they forgot most everything about him.
X getting beer and skewers for him and Smile T-T He misses his friend T-T A last mourning in his place before it's destroyed.
3D Zac isn't real and can't hurt you. I'm going to keep telling myself that for a very, very long time. The good news is, there is so much Rock/Zac this episode, even with the weird 3D Zac model, that I have compensation for my pain.
Ahu's plan to assassinate X is so hilarious and that X clocks it immediately made me laugh so hard lol You telling me we aren't getting a dog assassin??? Dang : (((
X trapping game!Ahu in the wall was really funny adlkajlj Their conversation was great. It's also very clear he's not exactly afraid of being too powerful, but rather, he's afraid of what the people who want his power/position will do to get it. Like kill Smile the way Smile died.
Can't believe we even got 3Dish Smile, and Smile's bear slippers T-T Which X left out for him T-T
Shot through the heart with this T-T
Someone suggested after Episode 22 that the necklace X took from Smile's corpse - given to Smile by Dragon Boy - possibly had a tracker from Rock, which is why Rock looked so happy when X took it. That could explain how Rock was the one to alert the Commission to X's identity. I would also assume that the reason the attackers are still able to follow X wherever, even to the Rose Club, is because he had the necklace on his person and refused to get rid of it, either unaware it was a tracker or still holding it dear as a memory of Smile, or maybe wanting to lure his attackers, or some mix.
New Type of Hero by Chatterbox (that's the song from X's longer PV and what's used during the fight this episode) is just such a fucking good song.
I had it on repeat for ages before the series came out.
The official Chinese series twitter also posted part of the lyrics (I'm not sure why now, given the song's been out since before the series started, but okay!)
Okay I know Zac's 3D model is weird but I will go down with this ship, regardless.
Keep putting them together, show crew, I see you.
This art style really is pretty.
When it's not blown up like this it's so crisp and bright.
I'm guessing green Sonic the Hedgehog is called "Crash"? That seems to be what's barely visible behind his right arm, anyway. Back when the episode preview came out, I wondered if he was the guy who ran into Lin Ling in Episode 3 in the tunnels on the path to Wolf Girl. That guy had more red in his costume, but maybe FOMO had him do a rebranding or something?
I'm not sure if this guy's name is Buo or Bug Ctr Alt Delete.
Interesting that MG seems to have at least a few E-Soul knock-offs. Wonder how Yang Cheng feels about that. Was it his idea? Or just something they did with all the other people who were pretending to be E-Soul? Or is Rock just not that imaginative? (I would say he's probably not that imaginative and also likely other reasons)
There are so many good shots this episode.
Graffiti King is neat. I love that X has a nemesis (of a sort). X seems surprised the guy exists, so it seems more of "this guy has similar powers, kinda" than an actual emotional connection. Or X is just, as usual, a very good actor and very relaxed lol His reaction to Graffiti King is certainly funny. Just "wooow neat!"
Also people are saying Graffiti King is Wreck???
I'm not entirely sure given how these agencies clearly have knock-off back-ups, but you can see Wreck's shirt, the gem collar, and his bracers minus the red gems. There's also the crown, the black coloring, and how he moves as an arrow. Plus the broken heart for Nice, so...
It even makes sense he'd leave Treeman (or get kicked out), either due to his pain over Nice and/or disobeying orders during the wedding. I wonder if X's reaction is because he's shocked at Wreck's transformation. It's really sad... Guy's clearly struggling and he just gets used by someone else as yet another makeshift nemesis, and is now working as an assassin, just like Nice was. To be fair, we have no idea if he was doing assassin stuff before this, but he's definitely doing them now. It makes sense why Wreck would pop up in presumably season 2 (even outside his history with X), especially if DOS is trying to make him X's nemesis. They might confront each other again and have flashbacks. Also, given DOS was already focused on Wreck as they'd fought in the past (as referenced in the DOS chart in Episode 12), it makes sense Mickey would pursue him after Treeman dropped him.
I wish he had an actual name T-T This episode gave us few answers for a lot of things, but that characters like Nice and Wreck still have no actual names, and now Wreck is named something else is sad. Like at least both he and Nice are alive but at what cost T-T
"Now you know who the real demons are."
Mmmm. I really do wonder, if X and maybe 0/???? have some plot to take down the Commission and/or the hero agencies. It just feels more right with this. Maybe they wanted to set X up as a target to focus all the energy of their enemies, but people like Smile ended up as collateral damage.
I really do love using the coin as a shield. A lot of media do neat things with money as like... metaphor/transformative object, especially Chinese money, and it's fun to see this.
This man is living.
I really think the reason they were followed here is because X has the necklace from Smile on him. Still mourning his friend. Or trying to gather everyone to one place while he wastes his last night, given he knew they were following him and went home anyway.
This space feels straight out of Control.
I love that X doesn't name Rock and he doesn't have to, because the statue of young Rock is, you know... made so obviously out of rock.
Can't believe gay love is the reason the idea of Zero never faded. (I'm joking alkdjlaj)
We get so much delicious food for these two this episode, I love it. Zac looks so cute here.
Also yeah, I was seemingly right the preview didn't signal Zero being literally alive. It's just the concept of him. Could be wrong, maybe he's actually alive. But it seems more the idea of him. The desperation for the power he had, through Rock's drive and all the lives he influenced and the people he influenced influenced. And this tournament for power. It still drives everything, including the Commission's desire for control: a control that led Zero down a dark path, even if the Commission was designed to be better, and protect people from what happened with Zero.
Also people drawing visual similarities between Zac and the rock statue in X's vision: I think the fact the statue is literally made of rock the same color as Rock is very pointed. I also think any similarity is largely down to the fact that Zac is drawn very young (despite being an adult) and the animation studio seems to have like... one boy child design that they keep using lol Like a lot of people thought Xia Qing's brother was young Lin Ling because of his hair style, and that didn't turn out to be true. And this young!Rock statue looks a lot like that kid.
And we have confirmation that X was the one who gave Lucky Cyan that coin. And it maybe was the start of his becoming X. Which I hope we'll see more of in season 2 lol
3D Little Johnny isn't real and can't hurt you.
Nice is alive!!! Somehow? Sort of? What happened to his face? I guess that's what happens when you fall so far and have to get pieced back together.
And they updated his art on the voting page, poor guy:
Reminds me of what happened to Hexidecimal when her mask was cracked, after she was hurt helping her brother and "rebuilt", but not well, by him, to be his tool and it kind of made her more mentally unstable (until someone with special powers healed her and made her whole).
Nice's perfect face is now imperfect. And what does that mean for him?
And Lin Ling looks angry about Nice's presence. Is it related to Moon's death and/or whatever E-Soul was dying when he killed her? Is this something Rock or Shang De arranged? Is he a robot (I'm imagining the automatons in second season of Arcane)? Or one of the people in the tubes Shang De was working on? And if Shang De arranged it, why is Lin Ling pissed off about it while working with him? Or did they just tell the press they're "working together" to keep the press at bay and they're actually enemies? Or maybe Lin Ling just hates this is necessary for some reason (I feel like he'd hate the idea of reviving the guy to continue work he hated, especially with Nice's mental instability; like get the guy help, don't put him at a target)? And why did the Commission okay it? They're that desperate to get rid of X? (Clearly, yes)
And I guess we also now know why they were both there in the rankings after the Commoner was added, rather than Lin Ling just replacing Nice.
Nice knocked E-Soul out of the tournament lol Is that why E-Soul seems mad at Rock? Is that why Rock's annoyed? Or if Rock did this, is Yang Cheng mad at Rock for it? And why would Rock do it? Because he thinks Nice has a better chance of ousting X and Dragon Boy than Yang Cheng? I think Shang De actually has plenty of reason to do this: yes, it means Lin Ling and Nice wouldn't get to fight E-Soul, but it gives Treeman two chances to defeat Dragon Boy, and MG one less chance to win the X title.
I hope Nice and Graffiti King get to meet. That'll be painful. Poor boys.
Something we should all strive for.
Can't believe they put the guy obsessed with time-keeping in the 24th episode, the last episode, the last hour of the day, and made his last line about keeping time. Love it.
So I guess season 2 will open with all these heroes beating some random dude to smithereens lol Well, probably not (and it's not like he's defenseless: he can use his powers while not in his X get-up and can shift pretty fast). Maybe he'll explain the maybe scheme he had set up with 0/???? (doubt it, it still seems to be in motion, and he's right where he wants to be). Or maybe he wants the heroes to be seen beating up some random, regular person, to show just how terrible the system is. It's gonna be interesting. I feel like Lin Ling might target Nice. And given X's comments about the heroes, will the heroes target each other? Will Queen, Lucky Cyan, and the Johnnies avoid each other out of truce, or just go for the prize?
Mask-off events can just be a lot of fun in superhero stories, so it'll be exciting to see how this goes. I'm just glad X is so chill. He was fun to watch! And the episode was so pretty!
Jeopardy now has a music video:
Such a great episode, even if we still have so many questions lol. Excited for season 2. What a wonderful season 1.
Extra stuff:
There's additions to the official timeline, with a ton of new information (there's likely actual translations floating around, alt text is just MTL):
Commemorative art by shaDow (and the full version of Nice):
Okay so after looking at the X jumping off the building storyboard and once again laughing at how nuts X's apparently preferred method of transportation (freaking dimensional jumping) is, it seems to confirm that CANONICALLY X was still DRUNK AF while doing all of that.
To share my obsession with y'all, here is a breakdown of the things I've seen looking at the storyboard
(PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND MORE THINGS I LOVE THIS KIND OF STUFF)
(under the cut!)
So, we start with X casually walking on top of the bridge and casually dropping off the side, heading to the intermission where the bridge suspension cords are attached
My fav part about this walking slide is that, while in 3D it's not obvious, in the storyboard X has the same swaying cunty walk as in the ending lmao
We follow this with X falling and his first transition into 2D
The interesting part here is the camera work and how X manipulates dimensions and gravity, since I didn't realize what had exactly happened until I saw this storyboard!
(yes, I tried to reconstruct X's path down the bridge by looking at the video before, I DO go overboard when this guy is involved)
So, looking at the next picture helps
Here we go.
Okay, so looking at the bridge reproduction + camera work, we can say that X did the following:
First he started falling down in 3D like any normal person would. In the meantime, he started flipping in mid-air - and that's the moment he snapped and went into 2D WHILE at the same time changing gravity so he would be standing on the bridge, on the top area before the beginning of the bridge gap itself and the vertical columns where the suspension ropes are attached (basically: the side of the bridge he was falling next to became the floor)
Since he was still DRUNK AF he essentially kept half stumbling backwards towards that gap while YAWNING because apparently falling down bridges is not exciting enough when you are drunk, you need that touch of eepyness as well - which ended up with him falling down head first AGAIN, which means that now he's falling with his head pointing to the ground in the gap between the two columns with the ropes (basically: official middle of the bridge freefall)
He snaps again because, you know, that's what he does and he DOES need to go down the bridge in a more "normal" way, but because he's X, a DRUNK X, he ends up in a kaleidoscope drunk dimension full of WINE BOTTLES.
WINE BOTTLES THAT ARE MOVING UP AND DOWN ENERGY STREAMS
So of COURSE Drunk X goes PARKOUR and parkours all over the place
So, after the Tremendous Adventures of Drunk X on the Beer River, X SOMEHOW ends up on the same place as the bridge ropes would be, so he switches to 3D and starts sliding down those instead
On his way down the ropes he sees that he has reached the Dragon Boy Approximate Coordinates and simply jumps down and flips in mid-air like the normal office worker he is.
And maybe because he needs to slow down, maybe because he wants to aurafarm, when he's upright again he snaps, goes through a lot of different dimensions, blows up the animation budget and ends up hovering in mid-air
"return to normal" lmao
But because the poor guy is STILL drunk he HICCUPS and freaking DIMENSIONAL DIMENSIONS FLY OUT OF HIM
Okok so after the new season playing out the way it has my headcanons are stronger than ever so I'm sharing my take on it all and some of it expands beyond life series.
Also disclaimer that I'm talking about the characters not the actual people and that these are just my take on the lore based on events.
Spoilers for Past Life ending below
Grian is a watcher, everyone knows that. In my headcanon it means that he is also aware of, and able to travel to, any minecraft world and any server. He chooses to stay with the ones where his friends are (duh there's a lot of stuff out there). This is why he was able to pull of that move in that one MCC (you know the one) and also the portal between Hermitcraft and Empires SMP was in his base. He's the one able to travel between them.
The Life Series stuff is Grian as a watcher getting bored and wanting to have some fun. At least it was at the start. Eventually, the other watchers caught on to this endless loop of him making his friends fight each other that he became part of the event and is then forced to watch as he loses each of them one by one.
This is why he keeps coming in second place, why the canary curse is broken, why he's always the last survivor of his allies. Second place always because if he won he would have the satisfaction. It's like his own curse that he must watch everyone fall around him but never be rewarded.
The canary curse is something that Grian wrote into the games and the other watchers try to prevent it now. But because he's the one that wrote it in he must still fufil it when it's not passed, so he takes it upon himself to kill Jimmy.
Third life, Grian won his own game and realised it wasn't fun that way evern though he can do so via watcher powers.
Secret life when he stsrted losing power, the canary curse was quickly remedied but it was broken.
Wild Life and Past Life saw Grian in second place. This is no longer his game. Now, even though he tries to win, he isn't allowed to.
