What?
Domestic terrorist masterpost
Masterpost of identified insurrectionists who participated in the violent attempted overthrow/coup of the US government on 7 January 2021.
Richard āBigoā Barnett of Gravette, Arkansas, who broke into the Capitol and stole mail from Speaker Pelosiās desk.
Jon Schaffer from heavy metal band Iced Earth under record label Century Media Records.
Known Nazi Matthew Heimbach.
Nicholas Rodean of Frederick, Maryland.
Photos and IDs courtesy of @HomeGrownTerrorists on Instagram.
Emily Lewis of Dayton, Ohio, now fired from her job at Taylor Communications.
Adam Johnson of Palmetto, Florida, seen here stealing a podium during the violent invasion of the Capitol Building. His wife is Dr. Suzanne Johnson at Davita Medical in Palmetto, Florida.
Pro wrestler James DeFalco aka āJimmy Jact Cashā. Seen in the news previously for defrauding members of his now-bankrupt gyms of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Derrick Evans recently elected to West Virginiaās House of Delegates. It takes a special kind of domestic terrorist to try to overthrow the federal government while holding an elected position.
Jenna Ryan a realtor in Frisco, Texas. Are you allowed to hold a realtorās license when youāve committed a federal crime? I definitely wouldnāt want her having keys to my house.
Elizabeth Koch from Maryville, Tennessee. Props for outing yourself for federal crimes on national television. Double props for rubbing your eyes with an onion on camera and claiming you got maced.
Paul Davis former Associate General Counsel and Director of HR for Goosehead Insurance Company who fired him for domestic terrorism - and probably also gross incompetence. What kind of lawyer does a media interview while committing a federal crime? Iām guessing the State Bar of Texas is going to disbar him as well but weāre still waiting on that news.
Kristopher Drew licensed cosmetologist at Hair by Kristopher Drew. Iām not sure whether youāre allowed to be a cosmetologist and have a criminal record at the same time but I guess weāre about to find out.
Aaron Mostofsky son of Kings County Supreme Court Judge Steven (Shlomo) Mostofsky. Per the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, āMostofskyās brother Nachman, the executive director of Chovevei Zion, a politically conservative Orthodox advocacy organization, as well as a Brooklyn district leader and vice president of the South Brooklyn Conservative Club, also attended the rally Wednesday but did not enter the Capitol.ā
Josiah Colt domestic terrorist and owner of FunnelCraft Co. in Boise, Idaho.
On the left is Nick DeCarlo from Murder the Media and on the right is Nick Ochs, Nazi and member of the Proud Boys. This pair of domestic terrorists posed for a photo inside the Capitol Building during their violent insurrection against the US Government.
Zach Crandall who outed himself for federal crimes.
Eduardo āNickā Alvear seen here smoking pot inside the Capitol Building because why commit just one federal crime when you can commit two at once and document them both on film at the same time amiright.
i shouldnāt be allowed to make things
Can I offer a coping meme in this trying time?
āah surely the kanye jeffree starr alleged hookup is the craziest thing Iāll hear todayā I say, a full minute before checking twitter to see armed maskless white supremacists have stormed the capitol building and the senate is barricaded in their chamber
Amazing how weāre watching a bunch of white, racist fucks, storm the capitol building of the United States over the fact that they canāt accept their loser of a President lost the election, is unfuckingbelivable. The transparency of minorities and people protesting for human rights and justice in the face of corruption, versus people are sore losers that canāt accept defeat and know theyāre protected because theyāre white Americans, could not be more apparent.
This is the first time Iāve ever seen a public utility ruefully praise someone for
property damageā¦.
Looking at pictures of people in Wuhan celebrating freedom from COVID-19 and seething with jealousy over how damn cool they look
this fills me with both incredible rage (at my own fucked up, incompetent, corrupt, spiteful government) and desperate envyĀ
omg girl good news! ive escaped my enclosure and am on my way to your house <3 :)
Sometimes I think about Red Dead Redemption 2ās development where the devs were begging people to not boycott the game to protest the news about their absurd working conditions because their bonuses were dependent on copies sold. I remember one of them made a statement around the lines of āWe worked ourselves to the bone on this and we want to at least see people experience the fruits of that laborā, which makes me think about how we talk about blockbuster games developed under crunch.
I was given a copy of RDR2 to review it, and I couldnāt help but think about how I kept seeing so much that was technically impressive and yet just not necessary. Did some poor guy really work overtime for weeks just so Arthurās horse had realistically shrinking testicles in cold water?
I honestly did not know how to properly articulate my thoughts on this at the time. I still donāt. Red Dead Redemption 2 was polished - I couldnāt deny that - but it didnāt have to be that polished. I could have connected every bit as strongly to Arthur if every horse in the game had no realistically shrinking horse balls, or even no balls at all. I would much rather have never had it and known the hardworking people who made the game enjoyed their lives more.
Still, I was impressed by the technical proficiency on display. Do I acknowledge that when I talk about RDR2?
I havenāt read any of the reviews for Cyberpunk yet (I want to form my own thoughts and I promised to play through it for a trans friend worried about whether or not she would have a good experience with the game) but Iām betting thereās going to be plenty of praise from people rating specific features as very good. Of course theyāre very good; too many people have spent too much time on those features for it to not at least be good. The question is if it even needed to be that good. Could we just have not had this very good part in exchange for the developers living better lives?
The answer should be yes, but all people will really see is āthis part was goodā and sing its praises and demand more of it. Upper management watches these reactions and concludes that their methods are working splendidly. The company executives laugh all the way to the bank, tickling themselves with the dollars stuffing their pockets as more talented developers vow to never work in the industry again.
It sucks.
I donāt know if I properly expressed this in the original post but there is a specific pain Iām probably failing to capture here. There is a special hurt, an anguish, for when you work in games as a smalltimer and you see the fucking magic that the veterans at AAA studios are pulling off and knowing that it was accomplished through crunch.
These developers are accomplishing feats that can only be described as insane when you understand what they need to do to make that shit happen. The thing they made is incredible, and it must have no less than to have its praises be sung in every corner. That it was made under abuse and that your words of admiration that the devs so rightfully deserve to hear will only ensure their continued abuse is heartbreaking.
Adding onto this⦠I think weāre hitting a real wall. Not in whatās technically possible, but whatās technically feasible.Ā
Because I get it. I get it. We started in a place where video games looked like this:
and then this:
And the desire was: How can we make this more like real life? The landscape, the models, the dialogue, the ability to simply interact in the world.Ā
And you know what? Weāve made it pretty damn far. More than once Iāve seen a clip from a video game and literally not been able to tell at first that it wasnāt live footage.Ā
But
How viable is that really? To have giant, sprawling open-world games where every character, no matter how minor, is fully voice acted? Where you can see every pore on peoplesā skin and the subtle shift of the hairs on their heads?
Cyperpunk 77 was in production for seven years. It was delayed what- twice, three times? CDProjectRed forced its employees into grueling 100+ hour work weeks to get it all together. And by most accounts, it still came out a buggy mess with entire missing systems.
To me, thatās evidence that this style triple AAA hyper-realistic game is getting so out of control that this scale is simply not tenable.Ā
And do we even.. need all this? Really? Because I have had plenty of fun with smaller, less-realistic video game titles like Hyperlight Drifter, Slime Rancher, and Abzu. Near-perfect emulation of reality isnāt the be all and end all of gaming. Maybe itās time the industry stopped chasing it so desperately.Ā
