oh man I can't wait to learn about sigils and figure out how I wanna make them so that I can eventually just create Oddly Specific Sigils
To all my fellow witches, losing interest in your craft due to depression doesn't make you a bad witch. You are not a bad witch if mental disorders keep you from practicing daily. Practicing daily isn't even an official rule or requirement. So tell your anxious brain to calm down, it is doing fine. You are doing fine. You are not worse than other witches if you feel an aversion to it bc depression is making you hate what you like.
Female witches are witches, male witches are witches, nonbinary witches are witches. Witches are witches.
Anyone who calls themselves a witch is a witch.
WHITE SUPREMACISTS DO NOT BELONG IN THE WITCHCRAFT AND/OR PAGAN COMMUNITY
Neither does anti-semitism or transphobia. If you disagree, get the fuck out.

*grabs you roughly* YOU ARE ALLOWED TO ALTER SPELLS AND RITUALS IN ORDER TO SUIT YOUR CAPABILITIES! YOU DO NOT NEED TO FOLLOW STRICT GUIDES IN ORDER TO PRACTICE YOUR CRAFT! *starts to shake you* DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN'T! WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT ENERGY LEVELS AND THAT'S OKAY!
⚖ witchcraft and the law ⚖
as we approach the anniversary of “the bone incident” i thought this was important. not an expert in law, but throughout my practice this is a list i have gathered of things that may conflict with things you may want to do in your craft
there are just some things that are straight up against the law. this isn’t aimed at your religious freedoms, this is about following the laws of the land you live in. while your religion/spiritual beliefs may allow and encourage it, that may not be coincide with what is legal in your area.
🐦 bird feathers - some species of birds and animals are endangered and collecting their feathers or remains is against the law. this varies from state to state, so you should check the laws of your area before collecting things you find in the wild. (x)
📩 plants/animal parts in the mail - there are a number of restrictions on what can and cannot be safely mailed in a sanitary method, and they need to be followed. (x)
📖 teaching witchcraft to minors - in many places, it is the parents who get first and only say in what religion is taught to their child, until they reach the age of majority. legal action can often be brought against those who teach a minor witchcraft without the parent’s consent. (x)
💀 digging up bones - just no. collecting bones that somehow come out of the graves is off the table too. the selling and buying and overall collection of human bones is often illegal, if not entirely. (x)
🌍 littering - spells that tell you to bury a glass jar somewhere, or to throw it in the ocean are not only harmful to the environment, they’re illegal, and subject to fines and prison time. you need to find a decompose-able method or a different spell (x)
🍷 tampering with someone’s food or drink - no matter what your intentions are, giving someone a love potion or something for their benefit, this is illegal in every state. not to mention, you don’t know if they’re allergic to what you put in. (x)
🔪 human sacrifice - i’m not even going to source this. you should know better.
💉 improper disposal of spell remains - be very careful on how you dispose of a spell, and make sure you aren’t introducing mercury or other toxic chemicals into the ecosystem. it’s bad for your surroundings, and it’s illegal (x)
🐕 animal abuse - it does not matter how sacred animal sacrifice and abuse it to your craft, if it breaks the laws, you should rethink it. (x)
🚷 trespassing - no matter how much you may want to pick some herbs that grow on someone else’s property, doing so without permission is trespassing and stealing. not to mention dangerous, as there are states with laws that allow the owner to bare arms against trespassers. (x)
🔥 fire safety - so you go out into the woods to set up a ritual, cool. but you dont pay attention to the fire alert that day and a stray spark from your ritual candles could start a forest fire and endanger countless people. it does not matter what stars are in position, if smokey the bear says no, do it a different day. (x)
this is not about dictating your beliefs or repressing your religious freedom. this is about public safety and respecting other people’s rights. practicing magic does not put you above the law, and it does not make your whims more important than the safety and rights of other people. if you do any of these, you’re not expressing your beliefs, you’re putting those around you in danger.
this is based on my experience in america and in reference to american law. if you have any more to add or other countries’ law restrictions, feel free to add.

Non-Magical Benefits from Witchcraft!
Hey there my Witchlings! I want to show my fellow Skeptics real benefits that you can experience with practicing witchcraft without being a full believer in magic or the metaphysical!
Grounding can help you calm yourself down when you are anxious.
Doing rituals and spells are a great way to help create a physical reminder of what you want in life.
Crystals make excellent worry stones for you to stim with.
Some herbs can actually help relieve common illness symptoms (but they cannot cure illnesses).
Meditation can help you practice visualization, which is useful for artists!
Learning about witchcraft can help you understand other cultures and the way they interacted with spirituality. Education is always a benefit imo.
Spell jars help to remind you of goals.
Manifesting is a detailed way of putting out what you want to achieve in your life and reminding you what you want. It's just like setting a goal plan (please don't forget to actually act on whatever you're manifesting though).
Creating an Altar Space can create a calming place for you to relax.
If you have a deity, or you work with spirits, you can vent your problems to them and get things off your chest.
Having a ritual routine can help you create a schedule, or stick to a schedule, which can be beneficial for mental health.
Listening to Reiki ASMR is surprisingly peaceful and can reduce anxiety as well as help calm you or ground you.
Introspection is very important in witchcraft, and it's also just important in general, understanding yourself, your core beliefs, will help you.
And there are many more! Witchcraft "works" in many ways, so, now that we know that, we can have fun even while remaining skeptical.
so I have some awesome friends who got me my first ever set of Tarot cards!! (feat. my cat being blurry in the bkgnd)
these cards are gorgeous and the book has pretty short and simple explanations so it seems like a good set for me to start with.

Reblog if you're a Witch with a mental illness
I wanna see that there are others out there like me who struggle with a mental illness and also practise 🔮📿🕯
I wanna know I’m not alone and show you that you’re not alone too! 💞💜
Petition to stop calling people baby witches and instead refer to them as witchlings.
Magic can be anything. It's so subjective.
It can be dreams and dream interpretation.
It can be walking in the forest and talking to the animals and trees.
It can be telling a loved one to be safe on their travels.
It can be crafting your own clothes or accesories.
It can be self care baths and spa days.
It can be cooking with love and baking for friends and family.
It can be anything. Anything can be magical.
