Walter checked his watch, then looked confused for a second before sighing. “Sorry, right it’s half six. Haven’t changed my watch apparently.”
Jacqueline smiled and nodded. “Oh don’t be. Thank you.” She chuckled. “Yeah? From the whole daylight savings thing? Or just an old watch?”
“No problem. That’s unfortunate. If you ever need to make a phone call, you can use mine.”
“Oh, wow. Thank you so much. Do you... mind if I use it now? I just need to make a quick phone call to my dad.”
“Yeah, I work at the gym up the street.” He nodded his head along with his words. “I’m a personal trainer. But I can’t do too much with my knee in its current state, so I’m trying to take it easy.”
“Oh, a personal trainer? Nice! I can’t work out for the life of me,” she replied with a laugh and a shake of her head. “Ah, what happened to your knee? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Does it look like I have the time to you?”
“Oh, sorry. I just thought you would have it. Didn’t mean to disturb you.”
“Really? You just asked for the time, wasn’t going to kill me to give you an answer.”
“Yeah, well I’ve met people who don’t take too kindly to answering some questions sometimes.” She chuckled and shook her head. “Again, thank you.”
“Really? – sorry – just not the best day ever. No – it’s barely four right now. Is there a reason you’re waiting for it to be past five?”
“Hey, no worries. We all get them.” She smiled reassuringly. “Ah, alright. Thanks. Yeah, I just need to know how much time I have before I run to the store and get home to my dad. I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve been having a bad day. If you need to talk, I’m all ears.”
“Maybe just…you know, drawing it this way?” Charlie started again, trying her best to make what poorly resembled a teddy bear on the paper. “I mean…you can tell what it’s meant to be, right?”
Jackie brought a finger to her lips and peered carefully at the paper. She nodded slightly. “Yeah, yeah. I can see it. I mean, it’s not bad?” She chuckled softly. “We both know what it’s meant to be.”
“Thank you. My step brother joined the army recently, and it just worries me.”
“You’re very welcome. Anytime.” She smiled softly. “Ah, I see. Well, he’s serving our country. It’s something to be proud of. Although, I understand your concern. He’s very brave.”
“Ah, a tragedy in a young girl’s world.” Kitty responded, laughing. “I would say bad, but then it would be hypocritical of me to do so. Considering I never put mine down.”
Jackie laughed along with her. “Yes, a tragedy indeed.” She shook her head. “It’s bad but we can’t help it now, yeah?” She smiled. “Soon enough, we might have it glued to our hands. Embedded into us or something.”

Ivy smiled widely at her friend and then chuckled, looking down at the silver wrist watch on her left writs. “Five thirty” she told Jackie. “You have somewhere to be now?”
“Oh, good.” She let out a sigh of relief and smiled at her friend. “Not now. Later though. I just need to know if I have enough time to run errands before I come to home to my dad.”
“Depends though, time for what? To hear about your lord, Zeus? If so then yes”.
Jackie chuckled and nodded. “Yes, definitely that, Yvanna. I would like to hear about my lord, Zeus, and it is imperative that I know the time.”
“Um yeah –? Depends on what you need”
“Yeah, uh, just need to know if it’s past five yet.”
“Uh, it’s half passed eleven. Don’t you have a phone or something to help you out with that? Seems like that’s a pretty vital thing for pretty much everyone to have nowadays.”
“Thanks. I do but I forgot it at home today.” She shrugged. “Yeah, it seems that way. I don’t honestly know if that should be a good thing or a bad thing.”
“It is 4:40. Do you not have a phone to check the time?”
“Thank you. And, yeah I do. I forgot it at home today, unfortunately.”
“Thank you for your kind words” the blonde replied with a gentle smile. “I actually do not have a clue how long it has taken me to draw this. I kind of get lost in thought when I focus on the beauty of nature”
“You’re very welcome. They’re beautiful.” She grinned. “Really? I get the same way when I take nature walks with my dad. I guess nature has that effect on a lot of people.”
“Couldn’t tell you what day it is, to be honest. Don’t you — … own a phone, or a watch … or something?”
“I’m afraid I forgot my phone at home and I don’t usually wear a watch. I’m hoping to get home before 7 or so.”
“Don’ even know what fuckin’ day it is, love.”
“Oh? ...And, um, why is that?”
