Born and raised in Queens, Darcy is the endlessly curious middle child of a hardworking family who still own a neighborhood laundromat. The girl who has never been able to resist a puzzle. After earning degrees in Chemistry and Forensic Science from Pace University, she spent over a year bouncing between jobs before finding her calling as an NYPD forensic technician at twenty-six. Bright, optimistic and a little quirky, she approaches every crime scene like a puzzle waiting to be solved. Her habit of hyper-focusing, blurting out observations and disappearing down intellectual rabbit holes makes her equal parts brilliant and absent-minded but beneath her warmth lies the lingering guilt of a mistake early in her career that taught her just how fragile the truth can be. Determined never to let it happen again, she follows the evidence wherever it leads. Whether she, or her co-workers, might be ready for the answers or not. Evidence never truly lies... only people do.

New York born and raised, Darcy grew up in Queens as the middle child in a blue collar family that measured wealth not in money, but in time spend together and shared meals. Her parents poured everything they had into the neighborhood laundromat they started a few years before their first girl was born. Determined to give their children opportunities they themselves had never been afforded. While her older brother inherited both the business and the patience to keep it running, her younger sister inherited the family's warmth. Darcy, on the other hand, inherited a mind filled with endless questions. As a child, she already could rarely leave anything unexplained. Driving her parents slightly mad as she took clocks apart to see how they ticked, insisting on solving puzzle books before bedtime and peppering every adult with an endless stream of why's and how's. Teachers often described her as brilliant but distractible, forever disappearing down yet another intellectual rabbit holes because one answer inevitably led to five more. Even then, she possessed an uncanny eye for details.
That insatiable curiosity followed her to Pace University, where she initially pursued a degree in Chemistry. Her mind captivated by the invisible rules governing the physical world. It wasn't until she attended a guest lecture on forensic science that everything seemed to click into place. The realization that chemistry could reconstruct stories, restore voices to victims and uncover truths hidden in the smallest traces fascinated her. She continued her studies, earning qualifications in forensic science alongside her chemistry degree, determined to find work that blended scientific precision with meaningful purpose.
The transition into the professional world proved less straightforward than she had first imagined. For nearly a year and a half she bounced between jobs, searching for somewhere she could belong. At twenty-six, she finally found that place within the NYPD as a forensic technician, where almost every day presented a new puzzle waiting to be unraveled. She approached crime scenes with the same relentless curiosity she'd possessed as a little girl, believing that evidence never truly lied... only people did.

Curiosity has always been both her greatest strength and her greatest weakness. Possessing an endlessly inquisitive mind, she has a habit of viewing the world as an intricate web of patterns waiting to be untangled. Forever asking questions that most others are content to leave unanswered. She approaches life with the optimism and open-mindedness of someone who genuinely believes there is always more to learn. Warm, witty and maybe a touch eccentric, she tries to offsets the grim realities of her profession with dry humor and an a dash excitement whenever she stumbles upon a new piece of knowledge. Her tendency to hyper-focus, however, often causes the rest of the world to fade into the background. Though some might describe her as naturally blunt and prone to voicing observations and realizing their impact seconds too late, her honesty is never rooted in cruelty but in a genuine desire to understand and help.
Beneath her easy smile and meticulous professionalism lingers a quiet fear of getting it wrong. It is a fear born from a mistake she has never truly forgiven herself for, and one that fuels her relentless pursuit of the truth, no matter where it leads.

Outside of work, her inquisitive mind hardly finds any rest. She has a habit of collecting half-finished thoughts in color-coded notebooks, forgetting cups of tea wherever a particularly interesting theory steals her attention and treating strategy games and escape rooms with the same enthusiasm others reserve for weekend getaways.
She steers clear of coffee, as it once gave her a major headache. Instead she has a fascinating assortment of mostly herbal teas which she mixes into her own brews.
On occasion, she narrates her thought process aloud when she's concentrating. Coworkers have grown used to hearing things like, "Interesting... if that's true, then you shouldn't be here," directed at a piece of torn shoelace on the floor.
She keeps a running list on her phone titled "Things That Make No Sense." It started as a game between uni students, trying to present each other with complex questions, which later turned into a page to jot down odd forensic observations, but now includes a variety of questions. From serious to silly ones, like "Who decided giraffes were a good idea?".
๐๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ - A few brainwaves but I'm always open for plotting!
Great minds... - This is someone who stumbled into her life entirely by accident. Maybe they frequent the same coffee shop before work, or perhaps they simply kept sitting across from each other on the subway until conversation became inevitable. Whatever the origin, they've become her favorite reminder that sometimes the universe seems to have a plan. They're the person she sends obscure trivia to at two in the morning and challenges to strategy games they almost always lose.
The one that got away - Before joining the NYPD, she spent nearly eighteen months drifting between laboratories and research facilities. During that time she met someone with whom she shared an undeniable connection, but life pulled them in different directions before either of them could see where it might lead.
The unwelcome - Defense attorney, journalist, private investigator or even someone with ties to one of the city's criminal organizations who always seems to appear wherever she does. They've crossed paths enough times that they're on a first-name basis despite technically standing on opposite sides of the law. They tease each other, argue and maybe exchange the occasional begrudging favor. Perhaps the start of a relationship built on mutual respect despite conflicting interests.

Where: The White Party
If there was one thing Darcy had already learned within the first twenty minutes of arriving at Villa Aurelia, it was that she had grossly underestimated just how intimidating New York's elite could be. Dressed in white like everyone else and somehow still convinced she stuck out like a tea stain on presteen white, she'd already managed to lose the one coworker who had looked almost as desperate as she had to have a familiar face while navigating unfamiliar waters. It left her lingering near the bar, caught in an internal debate between making herself stick out even more by being one of the first people brave enough to attempt dancing to the mellow music or risking an even greater embarrassment by trying one of the elegantly garnished cocktails lining silver trays. Dry January had, more often than not, lasted almost entire year for her.
When a waiter stopped beside her with another tray and smoothly began listing off the ingredients of a particularly beautiful drink that looked almost like art, she blinked twice before offering him the least convincing smile she'd probably ever produced. "Ah," she nodded with a facade of confidence, reaching for the glass. "One of my favorites." -- The waiter moved on and left Darcy staring at the drink in her hand for a long, thoughtful beat before quietly muttering to herself, "...I have absolutely no idea what this is." With a cautious sniff and an expression somewhere between scientific curiosity and impending regret, she lifted the glass toward her lips. It was only then that she noticed someone nearby, to whom she offering an awkward smile that all but admitted she'd just been caught bluffing.
