I’m back! Say hello to some dragons over my home city.
I’ll be posting my work from over this year, hopefully showing how my skills have grown and changed as the year has progressed 😄

It’s been a while, here’s something from late summer.
Here’s a set of sequence illustrations I’ve done for a course I’m taking by Patrick O’Keefe on LearnSquared!
22 July
It’s super fun to come up with these cinematic scenes. I’ve selected 4 of them and have colour roughed them (which I’ll post when I’ve finalised them).
Any comments welcome! I’m always eager to improve upon my work 😄
Woodland - 8th July
I’ve been taking some online courses and pushing my skills even further, this ultimately means that personal work output is slow. I’m also working more in my retail job whilst applying for roles in the animation industry, just as of yet - no bites!
I will keep persevering and improving my skills so that one day I can take up my dream job in some fantastic animation studios.

I’m immobilised by ideas at the moment. So many things to do, so little time...(but actually not so little time?) I just get overwhelmed and want to write every story, draw every element to it, make it into a project.
I’m figuring out how to navigate this. Whilst I do, here’s a MapCrunch study I did! Figuring out textures and experimenting with painting buildings
Plein Air painting!
I didn’t know that Plein Air April was a thing until a week in and thought it was a bit too late for me to join in... but I keep seeing everyone’s pieces and feel so inspired so decided to do my own from a photo I took on a walk... here it is!
It’s not an exact replica of the image I took but I wanted to convey the sunlight gleaming off the water surface.
I did the water about 7 times before I thought it was acceptable. Still not 100% happy but I like it!

Ok so I know I need to move on from the heads, but I enjoy them so much!
However, I’m planning my next portfolio piece and I tried sketching it out and including a character that came from one of these sketches. But, my focus is on visual development and specialising in backgrounds and concepts. I understand I can put a character in there, however I just feel like the character looks out of place, style wise. I think I could make it work, although I’m thinking of doing some figure sketches as that feels more relevant.
