My Neck Deep The Peace and The Panic vinyl bundle!
remember in p.e. when they'd take a bunch of insecure teenagers & be like "today we're going to play basketball" and then not teach you how to play basketball. and then put you in a group with guys who were obsessed with basketball and would get mad at you for not knowing how to play basketball. why did they do that
One time I played so poorly in middle school I had my entire team so genuinely upset with me that the like “good” basketball player in the school who had been very vocal about his dislike for me this entire year did his best to defend me cause he could tell I was tryin and it was a bit much.
Found some beautiful Tumblr blogs tonight, but they haven’t been active in over 10 years. I miss the old Tumblr photos and the feeling they used to have. 🥺
I am 27 today, and only two people that aren’t related to me remembered. My brother seemed to completely forget. Or not care.
Ahhh, the cruelty of time.
I would like to wish everyone an uneventful new year
May we live in very uninteresting times
This post is a week old and aged like curdled milk almost instantaneously
“MAYBE IT’S NOT MY WEEKEND, BUT IT’S GONNA BE MY YEAR” I scream at 12 am with tears streaming down my face and a bottle of champagne in my hand. it has not been my year yet. it’s not even a weekend today is Thursday
Paramore was right. Hard times
Neck Deep - Heartbreak Of The Century
The opening synth of welcome to New York makes me think of you every time I put the album on.
That night in the car the officer thought see we’re going to have sex but instead we were really going to smoke pot and drink a fifth of fireball. Hearing you talk us out of a ticket while style played. We were stupid but we were 16.
I take a hit. Throw on 1989, I’m back in your car. We’re blasting down a backroad in seekonk on Halloween. Nothing on our minds but how much fun it was to see each other.
The song ends.
I come down.
I keep living on, and it’s strange to know that you’re in the ground.
And that night in the car seems so far away but I remember every detail like it was yesterday. How the wind felt when I took a hit from your tangerine(?) 2014 era vape and god knew what we were even inhaling. how the metal of your car door felt after I vomited from my panic attack because I thought we were getting arrested.
I love and remember you. And I miss you Ryan.
I do. God help me I do
Alright, I think I like tumblr now.
A pun post crossed my dash, and I reblogged it with an equally bad pun in return. A couple of my followers find it funny, it's a good day for everyone.
That was on July 7th.
Virality on Reddit was entirely algorithmic. You could garner a couple crossposts, but the success of a post was entirely dependent on whether or not it hit r/all--the main page of Reddit. If your post does that, it's immediately exposed to 10x the number of people and immediately gets upvoted.
On my pun post, I get a couple reblogs. And those reblogs get a couple reblogs--nobody really adds any content to the post, it just gets a couple reblogs here and there.
There's a specific chain of reblogs that I'd like to focus on. The most popular post on this chain has about 25 reblogs on it. Half the posts have three reblogs or fewer. Five posts in this chain have just one reblog total.
But the reblog chain keeps going. And going. It breaches containment many times over. And finally, after a chain THIRTY SIX posts long, at 9:30 AM, July 22nd this morning, it hits a popular account.
99% percent of the people who have seen the post--virtually unchanged from how it left my dash--have seen it because it was curated by 36 different people. That's insane to me.
None of those 36 people know that they're part of this chain. They saw a post, reblogged it, and moved on. If any one of these people had not reblogged, the post would have a fraction of the impact it has.
And yet, after two weeks, the post has effectively hit the main page of tumblr. It was picked up, only because people liked it enough to show it to their followers. There were no algorithms necessary.
You really, truly, cannot get this on any other website.
here's your fucking feedback @staff
list of problems the removal of icons causes:
i cant see my friends
ruins the sense of community
can't tell at a glance who's online right now and what they're interested in
literally cannot tell without scrolling back up who put a post on my dash if it has a single addition attached to it. or like. 2 paragraphs in the op.
i cant click my own icon at the top of the dash to quickly view my own blog
can't tell who someone used to be if they change their username
squashes the margins between the menu and posts, making the whole dash feel more cramped
ruins the quick visual cue of how long each post is and where it ends when you're trying to scroll past ones youve seen before
people put a lot of creativity and individuality into icons, and now i never see them
makes people who primarily reblog instead of make their own posts all but completely disappear
list of problems solved by removing icons:
?????
who the fuck was asking for this
ive never in my life seen a website or app that has profile pics forcibly HIDE them, so i guess you did it you made the dash unique again in the worst way
here's some more feedback: maybe when you run an a/b test you should, idk, actually have a feedback form people can fill out about it somewhere
Neck Deep - Take Me With You
So many dead blogs here. I used to talk to people on this site and their blogs are like memorial pages. Mine included.
Sometimes I miss it.
