Well, he’d take it. He knew Jade wasn’t really one for the more loving of emotions anyways. “ You always look good though. I don’t see what snacks as to do with it, ” he replied with a laugh. Yes, Jack was sort of playing up the charm in that sentence, but he really did think she was pretty. “ Chocolate-covered fries. That’s interesting. ” It wasn’t a mean-spirited reply. “ I can see why you’d like it. Salty and sweet. The same reason why people like milkshakes and fries. ” It took him a moment to respond. “ Other than pretzels ?? ” He laughed again. “ I’ve very fond of sour candies, to be honest. And most things with cheese -like nachos !!”

“i know i do. but good on you for noticing, pumpkin.” she patted him on the arm, actually patted. light and friendly. it was like she was a completely different person whens he talked to jack. a person only beck had seen. and tori, on occasion. she shrugged with one shoulder. “guess that’s where it came from. started with a chocolate milkshake, then decided to take it further. no point in doing anything halfway.”  she wasn’t really surprised that the king of halloween would love candy. “candy’s good. hey, maybe one day if you’re a good boy we can share some nachos.”

Narrowing his eyes, Jack only smiled more. “ You just said I wasn’t awful, ” he replied, genuinely touched by the sentiment. He knew Jade wasn’t one for grand gestures of affection, so he’d take it. “ Snacks are delicious, and to Hell with the consequences !! ” he exclaimed with a laugh. “ So, my dear, you didn’t answer my question. What is your favorite snack ?? ”

“i said you’re not AS awful. you just suck less than everyone else, don’t flatter yourself thinking i like you.” she did. and to anyone else she would refer to him as her friend. but elling him that to his face? no thanks. “wearing these clothes takes more effort than you’d think. and i look too good in them to change my style.” she rolled her eyes, taking a small bite of the pretzel before answering. “fries, i guess. chocolate. fries covered in chocolate. nachos. what about you?”

She really doesn’t understand why this young lady is so keen on knowing about her past life, about who she used to be, but she’s met weirder people. There was a madman she played a guessing game with not too long ago, and a young girl who didn’t speak, but communicated with Ballora in the equivalent of Morse code. It’s just different, finding someone who is interested in what she used to be that wasn’t directly part of it themselves. And she didn’t seem scared, or even hesitant. ❛❛ All right, ❜❜ she says finally, putting her cup of warm tea down on the table. ❛❛ Where would you like me to start? ❜❜

jade didn’t care about much. sometimes she would even zone out when her friends started talking. but she had enough caffeine in her system to stay awake for an entire week, and she needed a quick way to put herself to sleep. and she didn’t know many people in new york. maybe tori had been right and she should try to make other “friends”  she rolled her eyes, “that’s a stupid question. the creepiest bits. wherever. just skip everything that’s boring.”

hands ached to touch him, arms itched to wrap themselves around him, so close that they wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. instead she crossed her arms over her chest, a wall to keep him out. she was mad. at him, at tori, at herself. “you can’t show up here after months and expect everything between us to be okay, beck.”

 Beck was taken aback when he heard a very familiar loud voice coming from behind him. He recognized it in less than a second. It was his ex girlfriend, Jade.  “Look you never even gave me a chance to explain why I came back to New York. I only got back here yesterday. I don’t expect us to be okay, Jade. I know I hurt you and I’m sorry for that.” He scratched his neck.

“you didn't hurt me.” she was used to it, the arguing, their constant break ups. she almost wanted to have another one of those talks. fix everything up and pretend they were good. but she'd promised herself she’d tell him the truth if she saw him again. “i don't want to hear it, beck. because we keep finding excuses to get back together. we’ve broken up too many times, and maybe that's the one thing we’ve done right.” she sighed. “there's something i need to tell you. something very important.”
