HEAR ME OUT. GUILTY AS SIN? AS JEGULUS (JAMES’ POV)

after regulus gets the dark mark, he obliviates james but he feels this extreme wave of sadness and emptiness every time he sees regulus.

the spell completely wears off when regulus died, but it started wearing off when regulus slips up and does something (he smiled softly at him, the smile he only used to have around james) when they ran into each other a few months after he cast the spell.

james starts wondering why he’s suddenly dreaming about regulus, why those dreams feel so real, why his heart skips a beat when he catches a glimpse of him, why he’s filled with a wave of sadness every time he looks at him, why he feels such a deep love for him when they’ve barely even talked before.

james starts longing for a relationship with regulus that he didn’t even know he had. he questions it all so much that it helps him start remembering even more.

BUT HE THINKS IT’S JUST HIS IMAGINATION. THAT HE’S JUST DEVELOPING A CRUSH WHEN IN FACT HE’S JUST GETTING BACK MEMORIES. HE THINKS IT’S ALL DAYDREAMS.

he’s falling in love with his best friend’s brother (all over again but james doesn’t know that), so he questions himself about if he’s bad, or mad, or even wise for doing so.

he thinks he’s guilty as sin for falling for his best friends brother, but how can james be guilty as sin when he hadn’t even touched regulus’ skin?

the real winner of the 10th hunger games (and the boy who should’ve been remembered) was reaper ash. gotten five minutes maybe even less of screen time and still by far my favorite character for everything he stood for

reaper RIPPED DOWN THE FLAG and REFUSED to fight in the games any longer. HE WAS THE ONE WHO REBELLED. he gathered up people HE KILLED, people he watched murder, people he watched be thrown in a game and labeled monsters. AND HE KNEELED DOWN, TOOK PLACE INFRONT OF HIS FRIENDS, HIS ENEMIES, HIS STRANGERS, AND HE REFUSED TO FIGHT ANY LONGER.

he had the upper hand, he could’ve killed coral, he could’ve killed lucy gray, but he didn’t. HE COULDVE WON but he valued the end of the games instead. HE SHOULDVE BEEN THE ONE REMEMBERED. reaper, just as his name suggests (reapers collect souls) collected all of his fellow tributes and places them on the ground covered in what murdered them. not eachother, but panem.

what makes Snow such a formidable villain within THG universe is that nothing he does was set in stone. there was no sense of inevitability about his actions and his brutality. Snow had enough perspective of poverty, capital cruelty, district hunger and not to mention his own arena experience’ and yet he actively chose at every moment to stray from natural goodness. its even more terrifying in the sense that he had the ability to care. Snow is not a mindless sociopath, he displays feelings to others such as sejanus, lucy grey and tigris but ultimately he will always choose himself. his ability to betray those he cared about in order yo advance himself makes him so much more than the stereotypical villain who is forced into his actions.

i can't believe i have to say this, but my fics are gone for a reason. please stop sharing where you have downloaded them. actively reaching out to share the fics on purpose is just disrespectful. and for the love of god, stop acting like this is a big deal. i was not the only writer here, and me taking away my fics is not going to kill you. frankly, the sooner everyone stops talking about it and moves on to whatever new discourse they wanna bitch about, the better. and ffs, stop calling me zeppazariel.

ok but james opening up about his overthinking to regulus (about how he thinks he’s too much too handle and thinks all he does is annoy people. even with so many people liking/loving him he has that small voice in his head telling him they hate him but just don’t want to say it. i’m projecting so i’m right!!)

and then regulus listens and pulls out the “You will never go unloved by me. You are too well tangled in my soul.” but in french because he sucks with putting his thought into words, especially in english (again i’m projecting so i’m right).

and so then it gets stuck in james’ head and he ends up memorizing it, with perfect pronunciation too. it was the first thing he ever learns in french. the curiosity is eating him alive so he asks sirius what it means and sirius translates it and gets so confused when james gets all happy and giddy and starts crying (sirius didn’t know about them yet)

james never tells regulus that he knows what he said. not until reg tried to break up with him before getting the dark mark.

regulus tries to be an absolute shit and make james hate him but at this point james knew how to read regulus, he saw the hurt, hesitation, and every emotion regulus was going through just by taking a glance at his eyes. so regulus breaks and is all like “you’ll hate me, you won’t love me. not after this”

AND GUESS WHAT. JAMES REPEATS THE EXACT SAME PHRASE. FIRST HE DOES IT IN SPANISH (he’s been teaching regulus spanish so he knew a little bit) AND THEN HE SAYS IT IN FRENCH BACK TO HIM AND ADMITS THAT HE NEVER FORGOT THOSE WORDS. ALL. IN. FRENCH. FOR. REGULUS.

then regulus realizes just how much danger james is in around him and obliviates him :(

but james stayed true to his word, he never stopped loving regulus, he was too well tangled into his soul. every part of james ached for regulus, but he didn’t even know it.

regulus did too, for the rest of his short life, regulus aches for james :(

i ranted a lot. but i’m working on a fic and i REALLY wanna add this. i’m still not even done with chapter 1 tho😭😭😭
