Mr. Zhang's SAT II Study Methods and the SAT II,
Helped so much. Ā (This is for Math 2C by the way, I would have failed history no matter what). Ā I mean, I think it was common sense but I told him my situation about how I started studying two days ago and he told me, āJames just take a diagnostic test and the ones you get wrong, just study those sections.ā Ā Makes sense, right?
Well I took a diagnostic test yesterday andā¦my score was below average. Ā AKA I would have to study all the chapters anyway.
I try studying for 45 minutes and I fall asleep. Ā When I woke up I thought, āDAMMIT NOW IāLL FAIL THE SATā but when I looked at my phone it was only 2:15AM. Ā With my choices available to me, I could either study right there and then while being tired and not remembering anything possibly, or risk going back to sleep and setting an alarm for a later time.
So, I set the alarm for 2:30 and 2:40 and went back to sleep. Ā I woke up again, but at the same time I fell asleep again. Ā Thankfully, God blessed so much as to have me wake up once more to be able to set the alarm to 4:00AM. Ā At this point, I didnāt care too much because I thought my situation was hopeless anyway, so I didnāt want to study right there and then.
However, I then woke up at almost 5:00AM. Ā Thinking I had no time to study, adrenaline and focus kicked in and I legitimately crammed all those chaptersā equations into my head. Ā Problems are straightforward on the SAT IIs, so all I needed were the equations and the questions they were used on. Ā Legitimately, all the information I learned 2+ years ago just came back to me (including some other early junior year AP Calc stuff). Ā Got it going strong.
When I look at my ticket it wasnāt my town high school, but the high school the town over (River Dell). Ā Fine by me, but I was afraid of being late. Ā Showered, ate a quick breakfast, drank coffee, and I made sure to NOT be tired this time (took the SAT I while being tiredā¦terrible decision to not cancel those scores right after). Ā When I got in, saw some BCA people which calmed me down (especially since Joe Calabrese who was a senior). Ā My room even had Greg Wu who is basically a beast, so I calmed down from that too.
Decided to take US History first which I most likely bombed since my school uses IB History for curriculum and not AP US History like other schools. Ā Actually, I remembered vaguely some of the stuff they had on it, so I just played luck and guessed a lot. Ā If Iām lucky Iāll come out with a 500, lol.
Math II though, man. Ā THAT was the adrenaline rush Greg was telling me about during the break. Ā I legit thought I had less than a minute per question for whatever reason and sped through. Ā I worried cause I spent maybe two minutes on certain questions, but when I looked at the clock I realized I was doing fine and slowed down. Ā I left 6 blank, but thatās a potential 800 (If I got everything I answered rightā¦) so Iām glad. Ā Things are in other hands now.
I legit decided to wear the same outfit I would wear sophomore year in hopes that my sophomore year math would come back to me. Ā My gold Cross from Confirmation given to me from my mom, my Luke 18 rosary bracelet, my rosary bracelet from Divine Mercy (or a healing mass I went toā¦but that was junior year, not sophomore year; I guess I canāt remember exactly), and just a lot of prayer. Ā Hopefully God pulled through for me, but I definitely felt thankful to Him for getting me through with confidence. Ā Lets hope for the best!
Havenāt had a post this long in forever :) .
