missmaggiepierce:
“I know Ellis ran out of town. That’s pretty much all I know. Why? Is there something else going on that I don’t know?” She asked curiously.
Shoot. Jamie had been relieved, at first. She thought Maggie may have already known about what had been going on. “N-no. No. I just...thought Mom might have talked to you.” She ran a hand through her hair before looking up. “You should...probably talk to Mom, not me.”
missmaggiepierce:
The cardio surgeon watched the actions of her niece carefully. She was acting a little weird. “I am doing fine, you know just more cardio surgeries, normal stuff like that.” Maggie looked at her. “How are you doing with everything going on?” She asked stepping closer to her.
Jamie shrugged, pressing her lips together. “So you know?” She questioned. “About the...stuff that’s been going on? Did Mom tell you?”
lincolntr:
Life had always seemed to be dragging all these second generation of children in different directions but it was nice to actually get to sit down and breath for a moment. “It’s alright, it happens to the best of us,” Lincoln admitted, knowing all to well how much he had zoned out since the ferry boat accident. “Just stopped in to pick up food for Brae and myself, saw you sitting alone thought you could use the company.”
Jamie nodded. “Company, yeah. Why not. It’s not like I was getting much work done anyway.” She shook her head at her own lack of focus, looking back up at Lincoln and resting her arms on the table. “Food. See, you’re smart. I’ve been sitting here for who knows how long, and all I’ve gotten is coffee.” She smiled lightly when he mentioned his daughter. “The pictures I see around of that kid...oof. She’s possibly the cutest kid I’ve ever seen. They should give her a medal or something.”
elliehunt:
Ellie grinned when she was complimented, “I am super fun to be around,” she agreed. Ellie shrugged with the question about her summer. “I’ve got science camp next month but that’s only for two weeks,” she admitted. “Honestly I have no clue what to do with the rest of my summer.”
Jamie smirked, shaking her head. “Science camp, of course. I really missed this science-y gene, huh?” She tapped her fingers against the table.”Well, what’s something you’ve never done but always wanted to do? That should be what we do this summer. And I say we because I have even less to do this summer, so I am mooching off of you, kid.”
baileyshepherd:
“Nah, you just thought it because I’m older than you. I looked smarter than you back in them days”
“I feel like maybe we should have followed behind Nerissa, and our parents. We would have made great Doctors”
“And I just looked better than you, so I guess we all had something in those glory days.” She smirked, lightly sighing as their conversation continued. “Dude, I would’ve made a terrible doctor. I’d end up mixing up the words oxytocin and oxycodone, or something, so nope. Nerissa can keep the doctor territory. I’m fine being over here in the “undeclared profession” category.”
harriettavery:
Harriet laughed as Jamie spoke about the rumour mill being out of control but then realised that she did want to know anything that Harriet had to share. “Honestly I feel so out of the loop,” she admitted, “I’ve got nothing.”
Jamie felt a small sense of relief when Harriet said she didn’t have anything to offer. That at least meant that she hadn’t been hearing things about Jamie or her family, which was at least a relieving sign...for now. “Good. At least no gossip means that there aren’t huge rumors about me--or you--out there.”
elliehunt:
Ellie grinned when Jamie said she could sit and she sat on the chair, sipping her drink once she was situated. “What did everyone else do?” she asked surprised, wondering how the rest of the family had managed to get themselves off the list. “Not much,” she admitted. “Honestly, I’m kind of bored now that school is out.
She shrugged, resting her arms on the table. “Well for one thing, you are most definitely more fun to be around.” She smirked, running a hand through her hair. “Ha, yeah. I get that. I’m pretty bored being out of school too. But for you...I mean this is your summer. What do you want to do with it? Besides hang out and drink coffee with me, I mean. That’s already a given.”
harriettavery:
“You know, honestly, I’ve stopped being surprised about the gossip round here,” Harriet admitted with a laugh. “Hit me with your best shot,” she tempted.
Jamie shook her head. “No, no, no.” She crossed her arms in front of her. “I think it’s best if I sit this one out. The rumor mill gets enough. Doesn’t need me adding on more ammunition.” She paused after a moment, furrowing her brow. “Why, have you heard anything? Because I’m honestly more of a sucker for that stuff than I should be.”
baileyshepherd:
“I’ll do my best to call ahead next time, okay? Jamie time is the most important time”
“Yeah.. How’s that going? Did you actually graduate? I kinda expected you to fail.. But need I remind you I chose a military path, so I would have most certainly failed. I’d still love you even if you failed, I kinda have to”
“And don’t you forget it!” She smirked, rolling her eyes at her brother’s comments once more. She laughed as they discussed her graduating, although the laugh was more because of the irony than anything. “Ha, and you probably weren’t the only one. But, surprise. They gave me a degree.” Jamie flipped her hair, jokingly. “Honestly, you were probably the smart one. I’m just happy that Nerissa was the one to fall into the doctor trap because med school would not have looked good on me.”
elliehunt:
Ellie was searching for someonewhere to sit, her eyes scanning the place, coffee cup in hand. It was decaf, purely due to the many comments she’d endured from people recently about the dangers of caffeine at her age. She spotted Jamie and moved towards her with a smile, When Jamie’s attention suddenly shot up to her Ellie merely smiled, “just wondered if I could sit here,” she smiled, “or do you want some alone time?”
It took Jamie a moment to get out of her head and really focus on Ellie. She smiled at the girl. “Yeah, of course? You are literally the only person in my family that doesn’t even need to ask.” She moved the couple of papers she brought with her to the side. “What’s up, El?”
baileyshepherd:
He couldn’t help but laugh as she shoved him back a little, just to prove a point. “Fine, I am really here..”
“I may or may not have told them. I thought the surprise would be better? I guess I can always go again and see about rescheduling for a time that suits you better?” He laughed. “I’m good, how are you?”
Jamie chuckled. “Surprise, huh?” She ran a hand through her hair, shaking her head. “You may end up regretting that one.” She figured she’d have to tell Bailey about things that have been going on, but she would probably hold off for a little bit. “Yeah, honestly. You should’ve checked my calendar. I have a ton coming up this week, with all of the nothing that I have going on.” She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms in front of her. “I’m fine. Figuring out post-grad living and all of that.”
nerissashepherd:
Nerissa sighed. “I think that’s because it is much more comfortable than yours,” she said. “I think the couch is comfier than yours,” she teased. Sitting down on the bed, Nerissa reached for a shopping bag that was filled with bags of chips and chocolate, dumping the packaged foods in between them. “I did. I begged her not to go, but she.. obviously she didn’t listen,” she said. “I assume she told you about…?”
“Rude.” She muttered, grabbing a pillow from the bed and putting her arms around it. “That’s because Ellis and I always got the short end of the stick and never got anything new.” She saw her sister reach for the bag and perked up, reaching over to grab at the bag of chocolate. She looked up to meet her sister’s eyes. “What? I seriously wasn’t kidding about the chocolate.” Jaime nodded slowly. “Yup. Unfortunately, she did.” She looked down opening the bag before reaching inside. “Honestly? I tried to stop her at first too, but...by the end of it I think she was right. She had to get away from things. There was way too much drama here for her.”
baileyshepherd:
He couldn’t help but return the smile, looking at his sister. He then threw his bags down, and moved to give her a bear hug.
“I’m not here, you’re just imagining me. You miss me that much..”
She welcomed the hug, wrapping her arms around her brother. She laughed at his words, finally releasing him. “Oh yeah? Well then I’m sure my imagination brother wouldn’t feel this.” Jamie lightly shoved Bailey, giving him a smirk. “Seriously, though...welcome home! Mom and Dad didn’t mention you were already coming back. How’s our resident G.I. Joe?”
“It’s good to be back home”
“Who has missed me?”
“Bailey?” Jamie turned around to see her brother standing a few feet away. A smile grew on her face. “What the hell? I didn’t know you were coming home already!”
darrensloan:
“Just work. Well, that and attempted parenting.” Darren replied, directing a smile to the toddler perched on his hip. “You sure everything’s fine? Because you don’t really look it.” He admitted, as sensitively as he could. “Do you need some help with this?” He said, motioning towards the papers as he sat down on the chair next to hers, moving Izzie onto his lap.
“I’m pretty sure it’s a little bit more than attempting.” She smiled, resting her arms on her legs. “I’m pretty sure having the most adorable little girl in the world means that you’re dong something right.” Jamie smiled at Izzie. “Yeah, dude. Everything’s fine. Don’t worry.” Her eyes moved to the papers. “With this thrilling paperwork I’m supposed to be doing? Sure. If you’d like to bore yourself to death.”
missmaggiepierce:
Maggie could never hide when she was worried. It showed on her face. So when they called her into a room and said “they need to talk” she had to admit she was freaked out a bit. She hated that phrase cause it could be good or bad. She slowly walked into the room. “You wanted to talk?” She said her face full of worry.
Jamie turned around as she saw her aunt enter the room, a little unsure of what to say. She didn’t know exactly what she was planning on talking about. There was just enough going on in her family that she felt extremely awkward around anyone even distantly related to her. But at least Maggie was rational most of the time and gave pretty good advice. “Talk?” Jamie folded her arms. “I don’t think I said talk. Maybe chat or something but...you know. Just checking in to see how things are going, that sort of thing.”
