my mom and I watched the black and white Pride and Prejudice the other day and afterwards she pulled up the 1995 version and just watched a couple scenes while sighing and repeatedly declaring how Colin Firth is the real Mr Darcy and if that’s not a mood I don’t know what is

just thought this was interesting :) also they both died so young!!! it makes me sad :/ like by the time I’m 41 I’ll probably have barely figured out publishing for one book, let alone 6 and some novellas...

similar to Dickens as well...maybe add to the cycle “get so disheartened at your not being able to live in such a world and thus creating one by writing your own Austen/Dickens inspired novel....”

i’m thinking abt that scene in pride and prejudice (2005) where catherine de bourgh tells collins he can’t sit next to his wife at dinner and now i’m imagining married lizzy and darcy at a dinner party and the host is like “oh mr darcy!!! you can’t sit with your wife!” and he’s just like “please… she’s my only friend”

and then somehow he gets stuck in between Kitty and Lydia and just stares at Lizzy the whole time with a “please help me how did you ever put up with this no wonder you changed your mind and married me” face
