Whether its shot listing or floor planning for a film, or ring awareness and measuring distance with an opponent in martial arts, Tangoes (a game related to tangrams) has been a pastime since I was 9 years old, and has had profound influence on my process of aligning myself to a room. Tangoes is a puzzle game that requires you to make shapes out of 7 polygons. This game helped train me for rapid diagramming that connects to the pre-visualization and live visualization techniques in Tai Chi/martial arts and filmmaking. Great to meet and train Tai Chi with @ryan_kerrison, a professional race car driver and founder of a sleek creative agency serving his fellow pro racers. He showed me one of his training videos and I'd never seen anything like it. Yet, the mechanics of speeding up one's perception to slow down time applies just as much to his art as to mine. This moment stood out to me as a fine example of selfless leadership. Tonight at the 18th anniversary of @fstylemondaysny, founder @illspokinn stood centerstage on a crutch for his injured leg, in front of crowd of NY's best rappers and hip hop fans, hosting a dynamic game of rhyme that he created, at NY's longest running live band freestyle cipher, which he produced. The heart required to pull this moment together is something to cherished by all who witness it. This man has cultivated so many of Hip Hop's finest, and he continues to be an inspiration to countless more. Gratitude to @mannycantorfitness & @edalliance for having me as the Tai Chi coach for this morning's Lunar New Year's Eve event. This is 1/3 the kids that joined in on the Tai Chi, Kung Fu and meditation experience, all in the 3-4 year old age range. Was incredible to train with them. It was an intense workout for a person of any age. I was even creating new moves and sequences on the fly so the kids could get the basics more efficiently. Its amazing what intense and intimate study in a discipline can yield. Very grateful for my life in these arts. A special thanks to Sifu Emory Moore @emtechnique for giving me my first experience working with kids a few years ago, and to to all the teachers that have inspired me on how to train with children.
