Feel Good Game Moments : Duke Nukem 3D
Since my abscence from social medias because of my super sexy project - this is an inbetween hobby. It’s hard working in a void without having to show someone something nice - but this will have to do for now.
Video showcases the most feel good game flow or game moments, that makes you feel badass or gives you feelings of acomplishment when playing Duke Nukem 3D.Â
The point of this (and hopefully upcoming videos) is to show as much examples of gaming feel good moments as possible. There is much that even old games can teach us about good level and game design choices. And thankfully Duke3d has loads of those little gems.
Elephant Warrior
Part of a smaller mercenary army. His role is Support/Defense because of the thick skin and large shield. He carries a barely used spear, in hopes he will be reassigned for some time now. His large blunt shield his main weapon, but also an instrument to play and inspire courageous songs during heavy battles. His red cloak not part of the mercenaries, trying to separate him from others (standing him out perhaps). Broken tusk from many battles - although the mercenary army is small it has more than too many generals that don’t see eye to eye on many things.
Oh Rats ! The Minigame - Weekly Brick #9 Crunch time at work took it’s toll on my homedev pace. No morning work (too sleepy), no evening work (too tired :) But almost got right back on track during this weekend.
Whats Done: - Make a crosshair/cursor with all information inside it - Momma rat, introducing her with less enemies around (and probably earlier in level) - Local Best score (decided not to, because of existing online leaderboards) - “Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, texts when increasing difficulty - <3 <3 <3 -> Put health GUI on top of the head now - Shooting <3 gives you heart, if heart gets to portal cue explosion(bonus) What should also be done: - Tutorial/Popup - Click/Hold to shoot - Publish it to itch.io and Kongregate - Menu music, - Clickable Text -> put into buttons
Weekly Brick / n Game a (Month + n) #8Â Busy week, implemented most of the sounds, found a name, made a logo, playtesting, bugfixing, and made a final-task-list.

Weekly Brick / n Game a (Month + n) #7 Been playing DooM... on Nightmare... Another ‘slow’ week, although I’ve been busy this weekend, but:  - Added left/right spawn animation curve %, Feels sexy  - All sounds for explosions, rats, hits, effects
turns out i was more busy this week ,then previous Things to do This week:  - Music (Background, Peppery Background, GameOver = MainMenu)  - Smoother difficulty curve, Add extra difficulties  - Think of a Title, make Logo
Weekly Brick / n Game a (Month + n) #6 So .. pretty slow week (from hours point of view), and shitty thing about doing the sounds and analyitics implementation is that i can’t show off with any gifs ... So far ... The sounds are partially implemented, some momma rat animation fixes, and minor tweaks in difficulty and timers and breather moments :)
Goal this week:  - Finish regular sounds  - Get / Make simple Background music  - Get a Title (make a title)  - Decrease starting difficulty,  - Add few more difficulty levels at the end
Weekly Brick / n Game a (Month + n) #5 It’s Sunday Evening ! Buzzing score-texts! Dramatic Ammo Changes! Shocking bug-fixes! 20,5 hours of work, Most of them late-nights :p Getting ready for beta playtestings !
Goals for this week: Â - Pause spawn-timers -> implement and balance a breather from non-stop sweet sexy hot action (est: 0.5 day) Â - Polish spawn-times -> try and create a balance for waves from easier to hard-core (est: 1 day + during other testings) Â - Sound implementation -> implement sounds, music, effects (est: 5 days++?)
Weekly Brick - n Game a (Month + n)  #4 It’s Monday morning ! Particle Effects, Layer depths, overall tweaking.. Who knew particles would take so much work? :p

Goals for this week:  - GUI graphics and animations  - Intro screen (Splash + MainMenu) (simple plz)  - Options screen (audio & sound)  - Sounds
Weekly Brick - n Game a (Month + n) Â #3
Been busy with animations, states and whatnots. Pretty happy to report rat animations are all finally done. I’ve started to use Procrastitracker software again (Altho I put it up 2.5 days ago) And by the looks of it, i had ~11 hours of productive work during theese holidays :) *devenv = Visual Studio
Goals for this week: Â - Particles ! Â - Particles and powerup GUI anim GFX? Â - Particles and Cheesy Totem ! Â - Sounds ?
Note to self:Â I should really write down stuff i learned, or stuff i had hard times doing so i can write a proper post-mortem after this ordeal is done !

Weekly Brick - n Game a (Month + n)Â #2Â
Although it’s a bit unnoticeable, the picture up there, she is moving ! I’ve been playing around finished the graphic assets, and animating the forest backgrounds. This week I’m moving on to animating and setting up states for the entities (rats)
Goals for this week:  - Start and finish rat animations  - Start and finish cheesy totem animation  - Tweaks and Finishing touches on animations  - Particles !  - Sounds !
Questions my huge group of fans have been asking: When will you finish ? (Since its 1 game a month +1) Well.. soonish, I think 2 more active weeks (since i was 2 weeks on vacations, i’m restreching the timeline a bit (:
Weekly Brick - n Game a (Month + n)
So I’ve decided to try new home work concept. As the title suggest 1 game a month. And for every finished game, time for the next new game extends for whole month. (Haven’t decided what to do about pause in-between and time-limit penalties ) This is the first game (of many, I hope), and unfortunately 1 week behind it’s schedule. Mostly the prototype phase went through smoothly, but the art progress is slower then expected.
Goals for this week  - Finish all the graphics (character & few props)  - Start and Finish animations  - Particle Effects

Oblivion Gates on the Plains of Tundra
Unreal Engine (Tournament) 4 : Level Design :p
Decided to try out the ‘new’ unreal engine 4. Pretty cool, despite changing the interface from the older one, it’s really the same.
Already created a solid greybox, it feels fun playing with bots (omg, its so easy to make simple & working pathfinding...1 click). The pickups are in too. Wanted to start with modeling and sculpting few prefabs for environment art, but forgot my wacom @ twerk, so i just scraped few ideas in the sketchbook.
