To this I would like to add that Tolkien did not just see the illustrations of the queen of Denmark and go oh thats fun lets put the queen of denmark art in the book.

He made an open call for illustrations because he thought his were not good enough (when you have seen it, yeah that sounds crazy). The queen sent her creations anonymously (a pseudonym mixing the letters of her names iirc)

And Tolkien just happen to prefer those over all the others he received. Its all just so unlikely. I love it.

Also, his illustrations have been turned into 14 huge tapestries by french public institution (no joke)(its called Aubusson btw). Yall got to see it.

She's such an extreme character in every way, even though that's not what the story wants you to think at the start.

I remember enjoying drawing these facets of her (thorn and ophelie are on that matter a bit more straightforward i feel like).

Ophélie(s), from The Mirror Visitor ! I organised the individual pics in chronological order. I really love this character, every iterations of her, and have such a special bond with this serie. Makes me want to read it again, its been a while!

I can't believe I drew this 4 years ago, time truly flies. Can't wait to check out the graphic novel adaptation.
