Sunset clouds version 1-3 “The mastodon and the walrus” Crayons on paper Sorry I haven’t posted in few days. I was about to miss my window but found some time to do some crayon cloud studies. I included all three because it’s kind of fun to see all of them together, some what different styles and between the drawings. It’s fun to experiment with different styles. It’s also important to repeat an idea to get it right! I’ve got a blog idea I’m working on, I’ll see if I can get it put together this weekend.
Reflect the sun Mixed media I did something last night I haven’t done in quite some time and got out some actual paint. Still ended up using oil pastels because I’m obsessed with crayon drawing. Still not on a massive scale, I’d love to do these on a 3x4ft canvas and just go wild. I forgot how much I love paint. I was feeling really inspired and felt like I could actually get paint out and get messy again. Maybe in the future I can shoot a video of the creation process. I know I said I’d be doing more figurative work again but I got to get that stuff organized so I can start telling direct stories again. For now I’ll keep with the abstract pieces with poetic titles. Believe it or not these things are meant to represent things. Earth walker Mixed media Figure, bald beard guy again. The self portraiture work I do is really important to me. I’ve never shared the ideas that walk along with them because of how personal the rest of the subject matter is. I’ve made it all to sacred and sat on it forever. I brought this up with my wife and she agreed that I just need to get it out there. Radiant Mountain Mixed media The initial under painting was on my easel staring at me for what seemed like forever. Had a surge of dream energy and was able to finish it. Heat of the Desert Mixed media on paper I really need to get back at my aesthetic and push my concepts back out into the world. I love the stuff I’ve been doing but I’ve been sitting on these ideas for a long time. I made them too sacred and some of this stuff has never seen the light of day. Seems like whenever I play a video game that really inspires me it lights that fire back in me to work on that stuff, but then it just goes back into hiding. Ive had had lot of time off from work to be with my newborn baby girl and it’s given me a lot of time to think. Now I just need time to work! Finding that balance of work, play, and family is always a hard one. Someday I’ll master it!
