I'm Anas Basil, a recent high school graduate with dreams of pursuing a degree in e-business management and building a career. However, due to my family's financial hardships, I enrolled at Khan Younis Training College (KYTC), affiliated with UNRWA. Sadly, the war has turned the college, once a beacon of hope and education, into a shelter for displaced families, stripping it of its educational purpose.
I completed high school with a 93% average, filled with excitement about continuing my education and securing a job to support my family. But like so many others, the war has shattered those dreams.
My younger brother, Ahmad, is 14 years old and currently in the third grade of preparatory school. We’ve always called him "Doctor of the Future" because of his intelligence and natural talent in mathematics. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing war, he has been deprived of schooling for the second consecutive year. In addition to his academic abilities, Ahmad has a passion for football and used to win tournaments.
Our Life in Displacement: The war forced our family to flee to Rafah, where we lived in a tent for several months. Each day, my brother and I would wake up to fetch water, gather wood, and light a fire to prepare food. Survival became our daily task, but we never gave up hope. The conflict affected us deeply, but it did not extinguish our dreams of education and a better future.
🚀 How Your Donation will Help us:
We are seeking €29,000 to help Ahmed and me leave Gaza, continue our education. More importantly, it will allow us to support our family, who have been deeply affected by the harsh conditions and skyrocketing costs of living due to the ongoing war in Gaza.
We've outlined how your donations will make this possible. You can find all the details in the campaign link below.
👉 Donation link: 🔗https://gofund.me/32e5e95e
Your contribution will not only help us escape the war-torn reality we live in but also give us the opportunity to rebuild our futures.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to our goal.
With deepest gratitude,
Anas & Ahmed

not a new observation by any means but it still blows my mind how whenever a natural disaster happens in a supposed Bad State every white gay city slicker will be cheering about it like its actual 4 year old morality. grow the fuck up
like man im remembering when texas got that freak freeze event. when that train dumped hazmat in the ohio river. and i saw people being like wellllll that town or that state voted trump and its like wow you people are demonic
"I think this Category of human being is disposable" okay that not only sucks and is fascist but also makes getting you to deem someone to be disposable a simple matter of convincing you they're in The Category regardless of the truth. Also The Category is often misapplied to a vulnerable minority because it makes people like you agree they're disposable.
"Anyone who disagrees with me about The Category of people being disposable is a Category apologist or probably also in The Category themselves" Oh so you're just totally unconcerned with truth or justice or ethics or human rights and just are feeding your bloodlust for the sake of revenge fantasies. got it 👍
If even a single one of you tags this "except THIS category of person!!" The post is about you no matter who you just named. Not sorry but "kill all the bad people" is literally never going to be a functional ethical framework for anything of any scale. Fundamentally you do not understand why or how the violence you condemn actually happens or why, and are vocally unconcerned with interrogating any of that.
I don't care how evil of a guy you can make up, not only is it impossible to construct a means to actually 100% consistently correctly identify whether someone is The Evil Guy unless they've already done the fucking thing (thus failing to even prevent harm) but rounding up every fucking criminal and killing them is famously a completely useless deterrent.
The ONLY thing the "kill all x" mindset accomplishes is making you a useful weapon for liars and bigots. That's it. That's the only functional effect. If you're more concerned with "letting The Bad Guys off easy" or "giving them mor than they deserve" than you are with anything even resembling an actual practical approach to these issues that puts function over bloodlust, then congradulations, your priorities are conservative no matter how much you piss and scream about it. You're more concerned with a personal sense of satisfaction than you are with preventing harm.
A little advice from someone studying extremist groups: if you’re in a social media environment where the daily ubiquitous message is that you have no hope of any kind of future and you can’t possibly achieve anything without a violent overthrow of society, you’re being radicalized, and not in the good way.
If the solution to your problems sounds like “we need a blank slate” it’s a lie. There are no blank slates, and the closest approximation people can generally imagine is “burn it all down and let God/fate/history sort it out”.
That’s not problem solving. It’s barely catharsis, in practice. It doesn’t just create more problems than it solves, it destroys more solutions than it creates.
Put the apocalypse down, and back away slowly.
Real solutions to complex, systemic problems are not so easily reduced to “us good, them evil; kill them.”

thinking about how my dad fled his home country at 19 in the middle of a war and then after 9/11 came to my preschool to educate kids on middle eastern culture/food/clothing so they wouldn’t be scared of people in traditional/religious dress or worry when they heard someone speaking arabic
this post has started blowing up. for those who have liked/reblogged this: i am asking you to please circulate and donate to palestinian gofundme’s/other resources for palestine. i’m glad people find this story heartwarming but i want people to be vigilant in not letting the palestinian genocide just fizzle out of the news cycle like it’s some “trend”. do not turn a blind eye to ethnic cleansing, it is very much real and happening right now. if you can afford to donate, please do so. but Everyone is capable of using their voice, whether it be online or in their communities through organizing/protesting. i do not wanna hear shit about “empathetic burnout” from those who have FAR more privilege than these people could probably ever dream of in their lifetime. do not let apathy take hold, palestine will be free 🇵🇸
when the objectively bad person has traumatic and honestly reasonable reasons for why theyre like that but it doesnt excuse their actions and only serves to make them more tragic as a character
