“Why should I trust shifting? None of my friends believe in it, and the majority doesn’t think it’s real, so why should I?”
Someone on Tiktok actually said it best, but if shifting WAS male dominated, there wouldn’t be an issue of its legitimacy
A lot of ex-shifters and the general populous all think shifting isn’t real because it sounds “too arbitrary” and “unrealistic”. Because the people who “invented” shifting on Tiktok used it to majorly shift to hogwarts and anime. Aka, fandoms where teen girls were the main audience or make up a majority of the audience. Ex-shifters swear off shifting entirely because “it never worked for me so therefore it’s fake”, and influencers who aim to discredit the entire practice claim it’s just daydreaming or dreaming. Yet constantly we have to prove ourselves. I daydream and shift, I can tell you it’s not the same thing. I have lucid dreams and shift, I can tell you it’s not the same thing. Yet still, it’s discredited. And once more, it goes into the fact that girls make up a big majority of the shifting community on Tiktok
Just a year prior to shifting getting its mainstream spread onto Tiktok, people were doing something eerily similar to shifting called a “past life regression”, where you lived your past life and experienced everything from that. And guess who introduced it? Guess who lead past life regression? Guess who’s still leading it when you look it up on Tiktok? Men!
Movements are only credited when men are at the forefront. It’s constant in almost everything: when girls dressed up to go to the Barbie movie, it was “childish” and “embarrassing”. Yet when boys dressed up and made a mess of the movie theater when the Minecraft movie came out, it was “boyish fun” or “reliving our childhood”. When men lead the forefront, somehow it just “makes sense” and it’s “spiritually healing”, yet when women lead the forefront, it’s “insanely psychotic” or “incredibly destructive”.
Shifting is only as real as you trust it to be. If you believe in it, then it’s real. If you don’t, then it’s not. It doesn’t matter what the main majority say in something is. Lucid dreaming and astral projection were once seen in the same fashion, that it was insanely impossible and anyone who tried these things were clinically insane. Now look at the two practices: they’re sought after, people seek help into doing them. Influencers claim to astral project every night to seem more interesting and lucid dream to look more down to earth and inept with their subconscious.
Belief does sometimes stem off of the main majority, but personal belief stems off of what you desire to be real and what you desire to be fake. If you think shifting isn’t real, but wish it was, you know it’s real, yet your desire to fit in with everyone and the majority is holding you back
Shifting is as real as anything, the only deciding factor is YOU
