my inbox and twitter both informed me that not only does International Hyena Day exist, but that it’s today! I couldn’t let this important occasion go by without drawing something, and I finished this just in time with only an hour to spare. Happy special day to these four special creatures.

ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds

I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study

after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines

et voila

and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)

I just did some eyeliner that uses colors similar to the feather colors of Chestnut winged cuckoos and holy fuck the euphoria from the wing like pattern I did. It wasn't spot on but it was close enough and I'm definitely going to be doing it again, and I'm also going to experiment with different colors for my other kintypes!

Buy or make your own, if you don't have any at home to wear. Wear them no matter what you are doing. A good idea is to wear a pair small enough to not be too intrusive. Note: Wings and Cars don't mix. Walking and Biking are environmentally better anyway! Make more wings to hand out to others if they haven't got their own. Use paper, feathers, foam, and fabric. Be creative! Attach them with safety pins, tape, Velcro or something else! Go out in the world and hand out your wings to everyone you meet! Spread the joy of magic and dreams! It’s so sunny and warm out, perfect weather for flying with my flock in Geelong (in my head) but noooo. I need to work because I’m stuck in a human body. I do have my kookaburra feather looking earrings on to remind me of what I really am!
