Is it just me, or do none of these ducks seem to have wings?
I think those are Indian runner ducks? Their wings are really small and they can’t use them to fly, so they speed-waddle like penguins on steroids! They’re supposed to look like this.
Person: [Plays C, D, E, F, G, A, and B on a piano.]
Cat: [Meows a C, completing the scale]
Hazel Scott playing two pianos at the same damn time with ease
Hazel Scott was a musical sorcerer and a civil rights hero. She:
was admitted to Julliard at 8.
was performing in top venues by 16.
pioneered “swinging the classics” and made the equivalent of a million dollars a year doing it.
was the first person of color to have their own national TV show.
went to Hollywood but refused to be cast as a “singing maid.” Demanded and got control over her casting, her wardrobe, and how footage featuring her was cut.
refused to perform in segregated venues and led charges for integration in several northern cities, notably Spokane.
She was brought down by the House Committee on Unamerican Activities, and has been largely forgotten. But she was a sorcerer, and a hero.

Let’s un-forget her.

Legally Blonde 2 (2003) dir. Charles Herman-Wurmfeld
Now that Avatar is on Netflix in the US I get to enjoy all these gags again surrounding Toph’s blindness. It honestly impressed me how it was seriously humorous they were able to make these punchlines without it feeling jarring or downright off putting basing humor around someone’s visual disability.
However, they pulled it off so amazingly well. Looking forward to taking a trip down memory lane.
it’s so funny because the fact that Toph is blind isn’t generally the punchline, the punchline usually is that everyone forgets that she is blind

The fact that Debra Jo Rupp never won an Emmy for this role is a travesty
