REMY MA VS NICKI MINAJ

First off let’s just say that TO BE THE QUEEN OF RAP YOU GOTTA ACTUALLY RAP! When I say that I don’t even understand why Nicki Minaj brought this on herself because this is literally what Remy Ma does and she has always been about this lifestyle. It is not about who has more records, plaques, awards, or net worth at the end of the day it is strictly about who spits the bars the best and if you have any common sense or brain then you can clearly see Remy did just that. Nicki Minaj is a great mainstream artist but she cannot go bar for bar with Remy so making a diss to come for her was idiotic and stupid especially when she was screaming “FREE REMY” but you want to come for her because you assuming that people talking about you and they have said over and over that they are not rapping about you or dissing you. Nicki Minaj out here taking L’s like her ex-boyfriend Meek Mill, I am going to need for her to do better. And for Nicki to be the queen she hasn’t responded yet looking real suspicious so I just saying Remy did not come to play with anybody she came to get in her bag and REP for the rap game!

Most people might believe that I am biased and unrealistic, Nicki Minaj being a million dollar mogul gives her so much more leeway but those people couldnt be any more wrong. Its despicable that the art of REAL Hip-Hop is being deteriorated because of big butts and small guts. Back in the day Hip-Hop was a male dominated culture and it still is to this day but women of Hip-Hop have broken those barriers in astronomical ways. I love Nicki Minaj but coming for a music being such as Remy Ma, who has paved the way for artist such as herself is just absurd.

Welcome to Jazzie Jaylah’s blog.

I am from Buffalo, New York and I am a freshman at Buffalo State College. I’ve lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and visited other states such as Tennessee, St. Louis, West Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland. I believe exploration is one of the most important keys to actually living life, as well as trying new activities and meeting new people from different cultures outside of yours. One major goal of mine is to one day open my own performing arts studio where I can use all aspects of performing whether it be the technological/technical aspects, clothing and makeup, dancing, singing, acting, instrumental, poetry/spoken word, or the business of the performing arts world and incorporating all of those aspects to make one major production performing arts company that finds one way or another to use everyone’s abilities and push them forward to be the best they can be. I’ve always been into fashion and performing all my life, whether it was dancing, singing, acting or styling you name it I was doing it.

 Back then it was more of a hobby and I used to always believe that I was going to be a professional dancer but as I grew I started realizing that my dreams were skew and in order to still do what I loved, I would have to do something different but incorporate all the ideas I had in mind. I was in eighth grade when I seriously started getting into changing my look and being more fashionable, even though I was in a uniform school I tried to pull off a “That’s So Raven” revolutionary uniform change. From that moment forward I knew that in order to stand out I had to stand up and take risks in fashion and I did. Freshman year I cut my hair off, well not all of it but majority of the perimeter and that edgy look gave me my name at Olympic HS. Then I moved back to Buffalo and I kept the haircut but added color to my hair, blonde, blue, purple, gold, etc. this ended up giving me a lot of credibility at Middle Early HS and around Buffalo Public Schools because people in Buffalo tend to all look alike or at least dress alike and my fresh fashion sense put me right where I wanted to be. Junior year I grew my hair back and started wearing more sew-ins, braids and natural hair styles, my fashion at this point started transitioning from colorful to more solid coloring with some splashes of color here and there. Pretty much I’ve grown in my fashion sense and I will continue to grow.

Over this course...

During this course, I, have learned and gained a great amount of information from Professor Sullivan and classmates. In the beginning, I was a bit afraid of the future of this class and how it would be orchestrated especially with the first words from the professor were somewhat along the lines of “If my skirt does not fly up and you do not see my underwear it’s a good class”. It was that exact moment I was like what have I gotten myself into. After that I kind of felt a little hesitant with really focusing in the class just because I believed the energy of the overall class was distant. It was not until the class started having really intimate and deep conversations within class that I finally started to take interest in class. I am glad I took this course because I have met great people from different backgrounds of life with different lifestyles and somehow it seems we all can still connect no matter what different views we have. Overall, I believe that I have grown and obtained a great deal of valuable things. This course has taught me how to correct myself when citing information, how to be able to decipher between different citation methods, and which are appropriate for certain instances.

Morally this class has given me the greatest gift of all, humility. Since taking this course I have developed many skills but humility is something I feel I have taken the most from this course. Before I believed that discussing your accomplishments and bragging was something that many people should do because you worked hard for the opportunity where you can be successful in that area. With taking this class I have seen different people I have not usually been necessarily close with or had to be close with and actually listening to these people was a blessing. In my eyes, you cannot learn unless you are willing too and are opened to listening to people who you would probably unintentionally brush off without second guessing. The people that I have had the honor listening to and growing an honest connection with are diverse and great people. Some of them might have rather debatable bias when it comes to their “Goat” or greatest of all time basketball player but nevertheless they are still pretty great persons and I would have never had the chance to meet them.

Janelle Monáe suggests women go on sex strike “until every man is fighting for our rights”

Janelle Monáe has a plan to achieve women’s equality, one she proposed in a recent interview for Marie Claire’s May 2017 issue. 

It would require just a touch of sacrifice on our part: No sex, not “until every man is fighting for our rights.” Considering that a reported 56% of men believe sexism is over, this could take a while.

Presentations

 The first presentation that I believe was the strongest in my opinion was the project that was about fresh water. I believe that that presentation had a strong amount of research and dedication put into the project. The points that the presented provided us were quite intriguing and made me want to help her look more into helping preserve our limited fresh water resource. I enjoyed the creativity put into the physical presentation as well, the skirt with pictures of sevens that incorporated both easy to learn ways of remembering important things about fresh water and was pleasing to the eyesight.

  The presentation that persuaded me was the presentation on gun control. I believe that the presenter had a great amount of knowledge on his topic and gave me insight on why limited gun control laws should be in effect. I previously believed that strict gun controls laws were in need in our country due to all the gun violence today but after his presentation he helped me realize that with or without gun laws people are bound to do what they will and if they choose to obtain illegal guns and use them then that is exactly what they will do. This presenter persuaded me by explaining how it is almost impossible to collect all the guns in the United States and even harder to ensure that every single person in the United States does not use illegal guns.

 I have learned a lot from all of the presenters so far and I am glad to have seen so many diverse projects that are on a range of different topics and I hope to see some more topics that challenge topics that have already been discussed. I believe this project really allows people to express a small part of ourselves within our own protest projects because it gives everyone the opportunity to discuss something they care about or at least show great interest in, and present it to others and even try to discuss why we believe so strongly in our particular topic. I hope that the future projects learn from the previous topics and get all the facts on their topics, present strong claims on why they chose the side that they arguing, create a great physical representation that correlates directly to their verbal argument, and lastly can answer any questions asked by audience members because that is vital to knowing and standing for your argument you must be able to answer most questions thrown your way.

Elio Motors- The future of cars

With the planet getting warmer and fuel costing more it would make sense that cars would be designed to run more efficiently. None have come close however to Elio Motors whopping 84 mile per gallon rated commuter car. What’s even more is the cost of this car. With a price tag of $7,300 this is going to be the cheapest car you can buy.

The founder, Paul Elio has always been an automotive enthusiast. Realizing the increasing cost of vehicle ownership and fuel prices, he sought to design a car with the average American in mind. Paul set out with a clear cut mission statement: “ To provide a fun-to-drive, super-economical alternative, that’s affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly. We are committed to the American dream, creating American jobs, and bringing American Automotive ingenuity to every vehicle we build. This is, and will remain our mission at Elio.”

Elio was design to accommodate every commuters needs. In another statement on their website they state: “ For students the vehicle would offer a safe and reliable means to move around campus. It would allow families with minivans and SUV’s to add an economical commuter vehicle to the driveway. For pure enthusiast, it would deliver on flat-out fun - with a potential for customizing as imagination itself. Paul Elio envisioned a vehicle that’s truly for everybody, and it’s inflation-defying $7,300 base price, ensures that nobody will be left out.”

It may be crazy to think Elio would be this efficient, but although being ingenious it is also fairly simple too. Elio is designed to be as aerodynamic, and light as possible. Also because it is half as wide as other cars there is less wind resistance meaning double the fuel economy.

Safety is a top priority aswell. The Elio is designed for highest safety standards. It comes with three airbags, a unibody frame, anti-lock braking system, and larger crush zones than other vehicles in its class. Not only does it have great fuel economy and safety standards, but it is also made in american by american workers. Paul wants to help create jobs for our country. The Elio uses parts that have been tested in other vehicles already so when it begins production parts will be readily available for repairs.

It’s great to see an automotive start-up bring such a unique product into the world. It offers much of what we need if we want to have a better today and a greater tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what this company has the offer the world and what improvements it makes to the current model. The Elio is a great leap into a brighter future and a cleaner one too.

This read was extremely interesting because the future of our automobile economy is very important. Our world as of today is very transportation based and having a car or a way of transportation is vital to have a successful life. The future of our cars is important because everyday we are trying to find methods in way we can make our energy cleaner and safer for not just ourselves but our ecosystem as well. Being that we are motor dependent  finding methods in which we can have clean energy and better cars which are more proficient to benefiting us all.

What is Scientology?

Scientology is the study of the spirit in relation to itself, universes, and other life. Scientology beliefs are built upon the fundamental truths about life; that man is good and his spiritual salvation depends upon himself, his relationship with his fellow peers, and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe. Furthermore, scientology is a religion that is concerned with the full rehabilitation of Man’s capabilities, awareness, and his own immortality.   

Scientology was created in 1954 by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard originally developed a program of ideas called Dianetics, which was defined as a spiritual healing technology and an organized science of thought. Hubbard promised that the Dianetic treatment would release and erase psychosomatic ills, painful emotions, and leave the individual with increased powers of rationality. Hubbard stated that Dianetics “was more accessible to the average person, promised practitioners more immediate progress, and placed them in control of the therapy process.” Unfortunately in 1952, the foundation soon went bankrupt  and Hubbard lost all rights to his semi publication Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. He then recharacterized the subject as a religion and renamed it Scientology.

The beliefs and practices of scientology are based on research, and its doctrine is equivalent to scientific law. Many describe scientology as a civilization without insanity, criminals, and war where the world can prosper, honest beings can have rights, and man is free to rise to greater heights. Scientology does not impose or preach about the idea of God, but the people are expected to discover the truth through their own observations as the become more aware. In scientology there are two major divisions of the mind: Reactive mind is thought to record all pain and emotional trauma, while the analytical mind  is a rational mechanism that serves consciousness. The reactive mind stores mental images that are not readily available to the analytical mind; these are referred to as engrams. As engrams accumulate, people move further away from their true identity. These beliefs are revolved around the immortal soul, the thetan. Scientology teaches that the thetan is the true identity of a person. Hubbard taught that the thetan brought the material universe into being largely for their own pleasure.

For many years, people are argued that scientology is cult-like and is dangerous, and by definition scientology is a cult: “a small religious group that is not apart of the of a larger and more accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extremely dangerous. It is dangerous in the sense that Scientologists believe that Scientology is vital to themselves, mankind and the universe and it’s success right now is more important than anything. In the eye of a scientologists tarnishing the name of scientology is the worst crime you can be accused of, and this idea allows real problems to be overlooked by members and kept in the dark from the public for the greater good. Protecting the image of Scientology leads them to hide things like death, suicides, child molestation and neglect from the media and its members.

This was a very interesting read. I believe that science is a very important fundamental and necessary subject. I believe that no civilization can prosper without the knowledge of science and in order to progress forward you need the scientific advances of the world to better enhance a nation. The only disadvantage with science is that people who only believe in just science based knowledge become overly composed of just believing in the facts and not the possibilities that things other than science can give explanation for the way that things are in our lives, world and the way things even came to be.

Meals on Wheels

 Meals on Wheels America is the oldest and largest national organization supporting more than 5,000 community-based senior nutrition programs across the country that are dedicated to addressing senior hunger and isolation. Established in 1974, it has provided funding, leadership, education and advocacy support, Meals on Wheels America empowers its local members to provide services to their communities.More than two million volunteers deliver the nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks. And those who are more ambulatory are fed at local community and senior centers

 President Donald Trump 2018 budget could slash some funding for a program that provides meals for the older. Programs across the country are serving fewer meals and are waiting to join Meals on Wheels because of how much it’s growing. Jenny Bertolette, that’s in the communicating and marketing team at Meals Wheels says “The Older Americans Act, as a function of the US Department of Health and Human Services, which is facing the specter of cuts itself, covers 35% of the costs for the visits, safety checks and meals that the local agencies dole out to 2.4 million senior citizens,” This is an issue if President Donald Trump cuts the budget for this organization. Even though 3% of the budget for Meals on Wheels’ national office comes from government grants. Each state allocates this funding differently, so it’s difficult to summarize the total impact on the nationwide network. For Example City meal on Wheels has 15,412 New Yorkers whose dedicated volunteers that delivers food and connect with the elderly people in the neighborhood.

 If President Donald Trump has a tight budget why cant he cut an Organization that doesn’t have involves elderly?

 How many Americans have a disability that counts on Meals on Wheels?

 If President Donald Trump cuts the budget, will Meals on Wheels ever overcome there lost?

 Has someone tried to put a stop to Donald trumps decision?

 How many veterans are meals on wheels feeding?

 Are Elderly citizens important to America Society?

 This is something that we should educate ourselves with because this is a current event issue. And that will impact many elderly Americans. Also the community service that the dedicated volunteers receive will get cut. Some of these elderly people are veterans that has served this country and fought for our safety and freedom.  What will happen to those that can’t walk and make their food, they just going to order food for rest of their life.

This was an exceptional read, and is a direct correlation to my own topic I blogged about. I believe that ending the epidemic of world hunger is something we should never stop striving to do. Meals of Wheels is a great start because that particular organization is one of the biggest contributing organizations that are dedicate their time, connections and lives to making sure that the less fortunate families who do not have meals to eat are given a chance to change that. Our country’s veterans deserve second chances more than anyone because they have done so much for our country and defending our nation and for that alone we should be more than willing to make sure that the people who protect(ed) us should have protection, clothing, food and housing.

World Hunger

World Hunger is an extremely important issue that I believe is not discussed enough in our society. World Hunger and Starvation is an epidemic that is far too often overlooked by people in our country. Hunger is a term which has three meanings (Oxford English Dictionary 1971): the uneasy or painful sensation caused by want of food; craving appetite. Also, the exhausted condition caused by want of food, the want or scarcity of food in a country, and/or a strong desire or craving. In 2013, the world hunger organization reported 6.3 million children under the age of five died, approximately 17,000 children a day in Africa died from starvation. The fact that this epidemic is a social norm and the enormity of innocent children having to go to bed and not have enough to eat every single night and tomorrow not being promised is a heart wrenching and surreal. Poor nutrition is approximately 45% of deaths in adolescents and children who are poorly nourished will suffer five times more illnesses than the average child.

World Hunger does not just affect children it affects adults as well. Worldhunger.org stated that “The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that about 795 million people of the 7.3 billion people in the world, or one in nine, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2014-2016.” This implies that one out of every nine people you possibly know are suffering from undernourishment. This is still a very real issue right now in developing countries. Somalia is going through a severe drought right now and it appears that no one is discussing this in any news or media outlet. Over half of their population is still waiting on food and have no water, this is being described as one of the worse famines and droughts they have been in almost a decade. The people of Somalia have not received any governmental assistance or food aid yet and the temperature is only rising.

Just last week the Somalian Prime Minister said that in a weeks’ time one hundred-ten people died from starvation and drought related illnesses just in that week alone. This is a state of emergency and it appears that they are being neglected once again just like in 2011’s famine. As one world, we must look after and out for one another despite that we are on different continents this is the only earth we know of and we are responsible for each other whether we like it or not. So, the next time you suggest that you are “so hungry, starving” just realize how blessed you really are and know it could always be so much worse as compared to developing countries who go without eating for ten days or more.
