Tested flour with a chocolate cookie dough recipe. One recipe, two different flour - Rogers $5.99 / 2.5kg vs. Flourist $14.95 / 2kg. Guess which is which? A (left) | B (right)
Cinnamon buns!! Craved it, got the recipe from a co-worker, so I made it. A Late night Saturday project for gooey breakfast on Sunday morning. Frosting was a vanilla cream cheese!
Covid Cocktail #6 - Caesar. When you are hungry and it Happy Hour, these cocktails usually help us get through the dinner prep! Ingredients: Absolute Vodka, Clamato juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco, lime juice and garnished with an olive, salami and celery.
Covid Cocktail #5 - Kaitlin’s concoction from the restaurant she worked at the Greek by Anotoli. I think this was a margarita (forgot the name). Ingredients: Tequila, lime juice, simple syrup and a cucumber for garnish! It tasted delish with our taco salad dinner!
Covid Cocktail #4 - Mohitos. Used a darker rum, hence the hue.
I’m not good with breads, the first attempt ended up for the birds but this was my second attempt at this focaccia bread by Serious Eats. It finally turned out after buying new yeast. Crusty on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. Now I just need a bigger cast iron pan and a bigger kitchen ;)
Lemon and Lime cheesecake. We were craving cheesecake so I went back to Thomas Keller’s Bouchon cookbook for the cheesecake recipe. Grandma Sheila’s Cheesecake Tart Pg. 273. I use this recipe as the base and experiment with my own flavours. I haven’t experimented too much with different flavours but always like to keep it citrusy. This time we ate the cheesecake with whipped cream some nights and whipped cream with fresh macerated strawberries in a balsamic reduction.
Covid Cocktail #3: Hawaiien Mint. Ingredients: Absolute Vodka, pineapple juice, mulled fresh mint, and simple syrup.
Covid Cocktail #2: the Rumbler. Ingredients Barcardi Rum, margarita lime mix, fresh ginger, soda and Angostura bitters.
