She was swimming.
The water was cool against her skin as she felt herself glide through this vast amount of liquid, her arms moving in a steady circular motion; a sudden confusion overwhelming her mind. Why was she swimming? Where was she going? What was this purpose? And more importantly, why hadn’t she run out of breath yet?
She felt her arms cease their movements; now, she was drifting, slowly drifting in this sea of…of…what could she call it? Sea of confusion, maybe?—Her mind still wondering why she hadn’t drowned yet—Her head moving left in right, her eyes falling on empty space. It was quite bothersome, really. Lonesome. And she absolutely despised being lonesome.
She continued to drift absent mindedly in the pool of emptiness before her eyes landed on a bright, piercing light that appeared just a few meters ahead of her. She squint her eyes, revving her arms up again, preparing to start her swimming again, but when she tried to kick her legs, she noticed something strange, very, very strange. Her gaze slipped to her legs, her eyes widening from the fact that, maybe the reason her legs felt strange was because they were replaced by a long, shimmering red fish tail. She didn’t think that this empty void could get any weirder until she felt a current pick up, the waves jolting her forward toward the light that had waited so patiently for her arrival. Panic streamed throughout her body as the current quickened its pace, not giving her the slightest chance of fighting back.
Then there was the scream.
It was muddled, gurgled, but she could hear it. It was the kind of scream that would send chills through the spine, that would grab hold of the heart and squeeze and squeeze and squeeze until it would stop completely; the kind of scream that would creep up the neck and steal the last breath of air.
The scream would continue, and the current pulled harder, her eyes burning, blinded from how close the light was becoming, and if she had to be honest with herself, she would have to say that was scared. Afraid. Absolutely terrified. And to make the situation worse, she could nothing about it. As she approached the light, the screaming would become clearer, her ears ringing from the incredibly high pitch Where was it coming from? And why? Why was it screaming, whatever it was?
She was so close to the light now…
She opened her mouth to scream herself, wanting to confirm her existence, hoping that maybe it would break the barrier of this nothingness, wanting to overcome the scream that chilled her bones to the core. There was just something about the thought of screaming that felt invigorating.
But nothing came out.
Her vision was blurring now as she came in contact with the light, the screaming that was once distant now incredibly audible in her ears; she held in breath, waiting for the exhale that never came. And yet…
She had never felt so alive.
Chouko rose quickly in the bed, a hand flying to her chest in a panic, her gulping hefty amounts of air as she tried to calm her rapidly beating vascular muscle. Her eyes darted between shadowed objects, trying to familiarize with her surroundings. She was able to identify the pile of clothes that were strewn carelessly around the wooden flooring, sandals aligned against the wall, just a few inches away from the wide-open closet. Chouko sighed deeply, finally getting her heartbeat to its regular timing. She collected the previous memories before she had come to this point—she was in the safety of Jenko’s one-bedroom apartment, only a few miles away from the Kazekage mansion. Her murky blue orbs then slipped to the fleshy figure next to her, catching sight of a fast asleep Jenko, who was resting calming on his stomach, emitting soft snores every so often. She watched as his arm twitched, leading to his head to lift slightly, only to turn to the opposite direction, facing away from the startled Akimichi. She blew air through her lips, lifting a hand to her shoulder, adjusting the baggy t-shirt that the sand-jonin had given her to wear for the night.
It’s alright, it’s alright, it was just a dream, she repeated to herself, throwing her half of the covers from her body, swinging her legs over the edge of the bed, hastily making her way toward the bathroom, the moonlight that peeked in through the beaten up blinds serving as her only source of lighting, cursing lowly as she tripped over the clothes that she remembered had been stripped from their bodies only just a few hours before. She opened the bathroom door only enough for to stagger through, her arm moving wildly to flip the switch, dimly illuminating the small room to a point. She gripped the edge of the porcelain sink, letting droplets of sweat splash into the sink before her, leading wet trails into the safety of the drain, her breath, shallow. Just a dream? Yeah, maybe a cross between that, and a night terror…
As she brought her head up to take a quick glance of herself in the mirror, she jumped slightly as she saw the other figure standing behind her. She brought her hands to her forehead, pushing her bangs back before they dropped back to her sides, turning to look at the male that stood sleepily behind her.
“Jesus, Jenko, don’t scare me like that,” Chouko breathed before resting her backside against the slink, eyes evading his gaze. “You almost gave me a heart attack.”
The male in question yawned softly, reaching an arm behind him to scratch his side. “What’re you doin’ up this late?” He questioned blearily, to the point Chouko wasn’t sure if he was even half awake. “It’s like, three a.m.”
“I had a bad dream,” she responded, placing her hands on her hips as she tried to recall the events that had happened in her REM stage. “Or, at least, I think it was a bad dream. It was really, really weird…”
“Why don’t you come back to bed and sleep on it?” Chouko repressed the urge to roll her eyes at the comment. Even sleepy Jenko was a cocky bastard.
Jenko shuffled over to where she was resting, his hands finding their way to intertwine with hers, pulling her body toward his, meshing together perfectly. Chouko brought her neck up, her chin resting on his washboard, tattooed chest, letting their eyes gaze into one another, not denying the fact of how safe one man could make her feel.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. “ She murmured, lifting herself on the tips of her toes, leaving a light kiss upon the sand-nins lips. “Thanks for caring…” Her lips formed into a sneaky smile, returning to her regular height, now working her way around Jenko’s muscular body. “for once.”
It was Jenko’s turn to smirk at Chouko’s snarky comment as he followed close behind, his large hand making brief contact with the kunoichi’s plump rear, the soft fabric of her boxers padding the slap. “Keep talkin’ like that n’ you might not be able to get up tomorrow.”
“Haha, I’m practically shaking from your sexual threats.”
“Like I said, no more games, remember?”
“How could I ever forget?”
As the two ninja returned to the bed, Jenko replaced the blanket over their bodies, mindlessly grinning toward the Akimichi as she tried to get comfortable once again. She felt his eyes glued to her and she returned his stare with a blank one, her eyebrow rising slowly, letting her head fall onto the many pillows Jenko just ‘had to have’.
“What?”
“Nothing, it’s just that you’re kind of adorable when you’re feisty with me.”
“You’re only saying that ‘cause it’s too early for you to be awake.”
“I could be.”
Chouko then rolled her eyes, pressing her lips against Jenko’s forehead before giving him a small smile. “I’m sorry for waking you up. I appreciate the worry, but don’t sweat it. It was just a dream.”
Jenko released another yawn, sleep not wasting any time to find him. “If you say so…”
Chouko watched him for a few moments longer before the familiar snores filled her ears once more, unsure if she was glad that he had fallen asleep so quickly, or disappointed. She turned her body, facing away from Jenko, now staring blankly at the night stand, the desk lamp being the only interesting thing her eyes could land on. She brought her knees as close to her chest as she could, forcing her eyes to shut, wanting to fall under the sleep spell, desperately.
Yeah. Just a dream, alright.

“Pass the chips.”
“Huh?”
“Pass the chips.”
“Oh, yeah, sorry, dude.”
Chouko thoughtlessly passed over the bag of chips toward a hungry Akiko, keeping her eyes on her feet. The two were perched high upon a roof top, the usually meeting spot. Chouko’s mind only focused on one thing: that dream. When she was trying to get back to sleep, it would reoccur, over and over, keeping her awake the rest of the night. She thought about it over breakfast, she thought about it in the shower, she thought about it on her journey back to Konoha, and it stayed with her throughout the afternoon, while she was training. Chouko found herself frowning, trying to decode the hidden meaning within the dream.
What could it possibly mean? Ugh, if only I had studied those psychology books that Ino made me read…
Picking up on her friend’s strange behavior, Akiko scowled, setting the bag of chips next to her calf, bringing her attention back to a deep-in-thought Chouko. She then began to wave a hand in front of the Akimichi’s face, startling her slightly, bringing her back to reality.
“Wh—huh?”
“Chouko, you keep spacing out on me,” Akiko stated, her eyebrow not failing to rise. “Something’s up. Is it my idiot brother again? Did he do something ridiculous?”
Chouko blinked, refocusing her attention before shaking her head. “No, no, Jenko hasn’t done anything, at least not yet anyway,” she grinned as she earned a tiny giggle escape Akiko’s lips, but her grin was soon replaced; her grimace returning with vengeance. “It’s just that…I had this really weird dream last night, Aki. Like, it wasn’t like any dream I’ve had before.”
Akiko cocked her head, quickly becoming interested. “A wonky dream, huh? What was is about?”
“Well,” Chouko’s eyebrows furrowed as her mind fed her bits and pieces of the dream. “in this dream, I was submerged in water. Like, completely underwater, there was no way to resurface. But, I wasn’t drowning or anything. Then, I suddenly, I find myself swimming toward something, like an endless maze. And I would keep going and going, and there would be nothing else. Just me, in the water, swimming toward God-knows-what. Oh, and get this, I had a tail. A fish tail. I was a frickin’ mermaid!”
Akiko nodded slowly. “Uh…huh…”
“But anyway, so, I’m swimming, right? And then all of a sudden, this bright light starts blaring into my eyes, practically blinding me, and then the water starts picking up, like I’m trapped in this current. And all the while I’m trying to fight the current, this shriek begins to echo throughout this nothingness, and the closer I get to the light, the faster the current picks up, the louder the screaming gets. And it’s not like, ‘I’m in pain’ kind of scream, it was different. I don’t know how to explain it. And finally, when I reach the light and the screaming is at its peak, I feel renewed. Reborn, almost. Like, it’s terrifying, but at the same time I can’t help being so frickin’ alive…”
The sand kunoichi watched Chouko fade into a silence, as if she had re-submerged herself back into her thoughts. She nodded rhythmically, trying to understand the situation herself. After a few minutes of silence, a sly grin slide across Akiko’s face, raising her elbow, nudging Chouko back to earth. “Well, from what I gathered, either you just have a major craving for seafood, or…you’re pregnant.”
“W-wait,” Chouko stared at her friend in sudden disbelief. “What?”
Akiko shrugged. “Yeah, dude. Preggers with a capital CHILD BIRTH!”
“Akiko, quit messing around, you’re not being funny!”
“And I’m not laughing!” Akiko turned to Chouko, her expression hardening. “Seriously, Chouko, think about it. You were a fish, swimming toward a light, feeling renewed, accompanied by warped screaming,” she began to explain. “I’ve studied the meaning of dreams, and I distinctly remember that if a woman dreams of fish, it’s a sign of fertility. And your dream fits the description perfectly.”
“No, no, that can’t be right,” Chouko’s lips thinned, running a few fingers through her choppy hair, feeling sweat forming on her brow. “That can’t be right at all. It doesn’t make…no way. No way, now way, now way.”
“Okay, Chouko, try not to panic, I mean, there’s a possibility I could be wrong, but just in case I’m right, you need to think. I know you’ve been with my brother frequently over the past few weeks. We’re you guys screwing?”
Chouko winced. Being best friends with your love interest was more than awkward at times. “I-I mean, I guess—okay, well, I know. Yeah, we’ve been screwing. On the daily. I dunno, he’s been really affectionate lately and he just has this way with words—“
“Okay, ew, ew, gross, sick nasty, I don’t need to know the sexual life between you and my brother,” Akiko’s face twisted in disgust, earning a small apologetic smile from Chouko. “But getting back to the real issue here—Have uh, you and Jenko been..uh…doin’ the nasty without the plastic?”
“That is the worse way of putting it.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t hear you saying it out loud!”
“Ugh, saying it is not what’s important right now!” Chouko threw her head back in exasperation. “Alright, I admit, we’re been kind of wild lately, but it was only for the last week; my bad. Oh god, oh god, I’ve made a terrible mistake.” Chouko could feel her blood pressure rise as her stress level increased. “Oh my god, oh my god.”
“Okay, now you’re panicking.” Akiko grabbed Chouko’s shoulders, trying to get her friend to focus. “Like I said, I could be wrong, Chouko. There’s only one thing we can do to find out.”
“You mean wait a month or so and see if something happens?”
“Don’t be stupid! We—I mean you—have to take a pregnancy test. It’s the only way you can bring peace to your mind. I’m sure you’re just overthinking things and everything’s fine. You do tend to blow things out of proportion.”
Chouko shot Akiko a mortified glare. Akiko held up her hands, immediately backing off. “I was kidding, calm down. So what, are we going to the general store, or not?”
Swallowing hard, Chouko’s shoulders slumped, her head pounding. “I…I guess so.”
~ ~ ~
“Chouko, how’re you holding up? Is everything alright in there?” Akiko voiced, concerned, leaning against the outside of the bathroom door, waiting for Chouko impatiently.
“Uh..y-yeah, I’m fine,” Chouko managed, her eyes fixed on the urine-covered stick, which sat on the edge of the sink as she sat at the far side of the room, tapping her foot anxiously. The instructions told her she had to wait at least thirty minutes before she would know the answer, and it had only been twenty minutes—Chouko felt as if the time was slowing every single second. She would sometimes step forward, leaning over the sink, taking a peek at the miniature stick, hoping that maybe there would be an early sign, but it was still blank—the last thing Chouko wanted to see.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to come in there?” Akiko asked again. Chouko glanced at the door for a quick second before returning back to the pregnancy test. “I’m your BFF, Chouko, and I’m here for you, alright? I may not have held your hand while you were riding the dick, but I was here with you when you had to pee on the stick!”
“That isn’t funny, Akiko!” Chouko barked, side-eyeing the door where Akiko would be standing.
From the other side, Akiko loosely shrugged her shoulders, smiling remorsefully. “Sorry Cho, just trying to make light of a dark situation, here…”
Chouko let out groan in frustration, recalculating how long she had been waiting. While she was busy bantering with Akiko through the door, a few minutes flown by, and now, she only had two more minutes of waiting before she found the answer that could possibly change her life forever.
Chouko began to pace, thoughts racing through her mind, trying to get through the last two minutes, occasionally looking over to the stick, heart jumping as she saw what was once a blank space was beginning to turn pink. What would happen if she was pregnant? What would she tell her friends? Her father? And more importantly, how the hell was she going to break this news to Jenko, or all people? He was stubborn, aloof, and to top it all off, deathly afraid of commitment. If she was with child, his child, how could she be so sure he would..he would…
Unable to wait anymore, Chouko frantically grabbed the stick, her eyes staring hard into tinting space, her teeth chewing roughly on her lower lip. “Come on, fight it!” She pleaded desperately, watching as the quickly forming pink symbol was in between what decided her fate. Plus means positive. Minus means negative. She reminded herself, fingers wrapped around the shaft so tightly, it threatened to break in her grip. “Fight it, you little piece of shit! I know you can do it, just…just…!”
Akiko pressed her ear to the door, ignoring the strange looks she was receiving from the common locals, straining to hear what was going on through the other side. It had been well over the thirty minute limit, impatience rising in her as well. She was just as anxious as Chouko was. Knowing her brother, this kind of news was almost crucial.
“C…Chouko?” Akiko called to her, lightly knocking on the door, hoping to get any type of response. “Chouko, is everything…okay…?”
The sand kunoichi was met with silence once again. She was really starting to worry. Her hand reached for the doorknob, ready to burst in before the door had opened for her, causing her to jump a few spaces back. She was met with Chouko, who’s fists were clenched tight, close to her sides. Her face was unreadable; Chouko tried to read what she was thinking but had no luck.
“…You okay, Chouko?” Akiko’s voice was small, but couldn’t help that the answer was blaringly obvious.
Chouko brought her head up, locking gazes with Akiko, her eyes glistening slightly from the tears that she was forcing herself to hold back. She raised her arm, turning her fist over, unclenching her fist, letting Akiko see the proof for herself. Akiko took a quick glance, her emerald orbs now widening twice their size as they returned back to Chouko’s quivering form. She opened her mouth slightly, whispering,
“It was positive.”
~ ~ ~
Chouko stood idly outside of the door to Jenko’s apartment, rubbing her arm anxiously as her mind went back and forth on whether now it was the right time to inform the sand nin of…’the big news’. It had been a week since she had found out, and it took her that amount of time (with a ton of coaxing from Akiko) to get herself to where she stood now. If Chouko could have it her way, she would have long left Konoha by now and relocated to unnamed village, and have the baby in peace, and no one would have to know about it, especially Jenko. Guilt prodded at the Akimichi. For some reason, she felt that the entire scenario was her fault. I shouldn’t have been so careless, She chided to herself, her nails raking at the skin of her arm, anxiety rising. I shouldn’t have let him be so careless.
Chouko found herself gnawing at her lower lip, lifting her arm toward the door, letting it hover for few minutes, her instincts stuck between fight or flight. Ugh, what am I doing! Today’s the deadline to tell him. I promised Akiko I’d do it. C’mon, Chouko, you can do this! Clearing her thoughts, Chouko forced her hand to bang on the door, her nervousness disrupting the beat of the knocking. “Jenko, are you home?" Chouko called as she continued to knock, onto his door, failing to hide the apprehension in her voice, fear racing through her veins as she waited patiently for the boy to answer. "It's Chouko."
There was long silence before she heard shuffling from the other side of the door before he responded with a distant, “Yeah, I’m here. Come in!”
Chouko hesitated for a moment before gripping the doorknob, gently pushing the door open, letting herself into his apartment; eyes immediately landing on his form, which was focused on the TV before him. It seemed that Jenko was sitting cross-legged on the floor, heavily engrossed in a video game, and somehow, this didn’t surprise Chouko one bit. This only meant that it would be harder to grab his attention, which would make it harder to tell him. She approached him carefully until she was standing beside him. "Busy, I see..." She spoke, glancing from him, to the video game, then back to him.
"Mhm," Jenko quickly glanced at her but quickly looked back at the TV. He fell silent, too into his game, his fingers tapping violently against the plastic buttons on the controller. "I'm fucking killing these bitches."
Chouko kneeled to his level, her eyes lingering onto the TV screen before slowly returning to his form, watching how the intensity flickered in his eyes. She opened her mouth slightly before quickly closing it, unsure how to word what she wanted to say; unsure if she really wanted to say anything. Finally, after working up enough courage, she spoke. "Jenko, we, uh, I have to tell you something. It's really… important..."
"I'm sure it is. Just give me a moment." Jenko leaned closer to the screen, his fingers moving at speeds Chouko had no idea was possible. Just what you’d expect from a puppet master…very good with his hands… Chouko wanted to smile at her thought, but that little sliver of happiness didn’t last long as Jenko continued, "I’m just about to..." His voice drifted again, attention now back on the game.
Chouko could feel her lips quickly turning into a small frown as she lost his attention, regaining her normal stance. She folded her arms over her chest. Her eyes staring hard into the TV, hoping to burn holes through it. It annoyed her that he could have one track mind at times. "Jenko, c'mon, this is really important. It involves the both of us."
"I seriously doubt that." Chouko winced at the displeasure in his voice, watching him pause the game, turning his head slightly to look at her, almost disapprovingly. "Why are you even here? We didn’t make plans." He stated, feeling a bit annoyed with how odd Chouko was acting. It was confusing, and beyond frustrating.
Chouko grimaced at the sudden change in his behavior. She was becoming quite aggravated with him as well. "Wow, your open-door policy didn't last long. And what's with the attitude? I just wanna talk to you!"
"You come here unannounced and interrupt my game. I could throw anyone’s good mood out the window." Jenko then stood up, now staring her down, piercing every fiber of her being. The intensity was enough to cause Chouko to shiver. “What? What's so important?"
Bringing herself back from her daze, Chouko then placed her hands on her hips, her jaw tightening. "Don't be such an asshat, Jenko! That game cannot be more important than your--" She almost let 'girlfriend' slip through her lips, but she was anything but that. "Ugh, that isn't important right now... you're making this harder than this already is!" She exclaimed. Jenko was really stressing her out.
"Well, what is it? Just spit it out, fuck, man!" Jenko stepped closer toward the frazzled Akimichi until he was practically towering over her. Whatever was happening, he just wanted it to be done and over with. Dealing with Chouko’s antics was not on his to-do list, and if she was just going to beat around the bush, then he didn’t want to hear it.
Chouko glared hard at Jenko, trying to size him up, but knew she could never take him on, not here, not now. She fell deathly silent as the intimidating glare reflected from her eyes and into his, his chiseled jaw constricting as he waited for her response. Chouko was so nervous, she felt her stomach churn, threatening to empty itself onto Jenko’s hardwood floor. Swallowing the urge to vomit, Chouko murmured, “Jenko, I’m…I’m…”
“Chouko, I swear to God.” Jenko’s impatience was quickly slipping from his grasp.
She knew he was getting irritated with her, but she kept letting the pressure build, until she completely exploded.
“Jenko, I’m pregnant!”
A chilling silence filled the room.
Jenko took a step back. This frightened Chouko. He’s already disassociating himself…
“Well, what does that have to with me?” Jenko asked, after the much longer-than-comfortable stillness. Taken aback, Chouko blinked, confused.
“W…what do you mean ‘what does this have to do with me’?” Chouko didn’t stop her voice from rising, offended. “You’d think I’d be telling you if it wasn’t yours?!”
“In my defense, how can you be so sure? You can’t tell me you haven’t been sleeping around with other dudes, Chouko.”
“Are you serious?”
“What? It’s not like it isn’t possible. I can’t be the only partner you’re with at the moment.”
Chouko’s vein throbbed. “Sorry to burst your bubble, but you have been my only partner for quite some time, now.”
“Well I don’t know why not, we aren’t together!” Jenko exclaimed, causing Chouko’s eyes to widen. “When I said we could be fuck buddies, I meant just that. It wasn’t a goddamn marriage proposal!”
“Well it’s not like I planned for this to happen, Jenko!” Chouko’s anger shot through the roof. She pushed Jenko roughly, causing him to stumble slightly. “You asshole, this is both our faults! You know we were being reckless for the past few weeks!”
Jenko groaned, throwing his head back, taking in the information. “Fuck, fuck, fuck,”
“Jenko, I’m scared.” Chouko admitted, tears welling in the corners of her eyes. “I don’t know what we should do—“
“Who all knows about this?”
“Just us, and Akiko.”
“Good, don’t tell anyone else.”
“Jenko,” Chouko stressed, borderline pleading. “We can’t keep this a secret, not for long. When I start getting bigger, people are going to start to question. Especially my dad!”
“When? You mean if,” Jenko shot her a bone-chilling look. “Chouko, you can’t keep it.”
The Akimichi’s eyes widened, knowing what he was getting at. “What—“
“Chouko, you know we can’t keep it,” Jenko turned to her. Chouko tried to search for something, anything, that hinted that Jenko wasn’t being serious about the suggestion, and her fear escalated when she couldn’t find it. “We’re both ninja, Chouko. Young ninja. We’d be throwing our lives away.”
Jenko didn’t admit that he was scared, too.
Instinctively, Chouko moved a hand to her stomach. Her fear was replaced with anger. “I could never do that, Jenko. And you know that.”
“Well then what the fuck are we supposed to do?” Jenko fumed. “We’re still young and stupid. You think we can handle a kid?!”

Headcanon: Chouko sometimes clings to Jenko when she sleeps because she feels safe with him :D
Ah! I can definitely see that. Chouko feels very safe with Jenko, and loves any form of physical contact with him. I feel that she’d be a very “clingy” sleeper lol.
All in all, Headcanon accepted!

Who comes up with the story ideas?
We both come up with the our own ideas! Sometimes we create them together, sometimes separately. We discuss things frequently, though, and we’re always going back and forth when it comes to stuff like this. It really is a team effort.
I hope this was somewhat helpful!

You guys don't really update very often ... is jencho dead?
Who said JenCho was dead?!
They’re very much alive!
Mun’s have been busy though, which is probably why there hasn’t been much jencho as of late.
But no no no the pairing isn’t dead, the muses aren’t dead, no one’s dead. xD
Hopefully they’ll make a strong comeback in the future!

In Too Deep
“Hey, watch it!”
“Why don’t you move out of the way next time, fuckin’ asshole!”
I sigh as I made my way through the crowded city streets, dodging hoards of children, packs of women, and an occasional dickwad or two who seemed to not have the slightest fucking clue how to get out of the fucking middle of the sidewalk.
God, sometimes I really hate Suna.
Not gonna lie, though, I’m not as pissed off as I usually am today. Always gotta remember that payday is the one redeeming factor of being a ninja.
I drag myself through the doorway of a convenient store, the tin bells overhead proudly announcing my arrival to the unlucky person working the register. I coolly approach the carton, slowly glancing over my options.
“Oh, Jenko, you’re back,” The cashier spoke, his expression completely stoic. “Come to run me out of business with your nasty little habits?”
I gave the man a sheepish smile, rubbing the back of my head. I came here quite often whenever the munchies kicked in. He always knew what was up.
“Hey, now, I wouldn’t keep coming back if this wasn’t my favorite store, now would I?” I respond with a smile. “’sides, it’s the only place that’s open 24 hours..”
“Well, are you going to actually pay for something this time?”
My face twists in confusion. “What do you mean, old man? Just the other day I came and grabbed like, three large bags of hot chips, which are always delicious, by the way.”
His eyes narrowed. “You didn’t pay. I’ve got enough I.O.U’s from you to build a house, Jenko!”
My smile falters slightly. “Oh, right, right…bad habits are hard to break, after all.”
“Just because you’re the Kazekage’s nephew doesn’t mean you can roll in here whenever you feel like it and buy whatever you want…and then have the nerve to skip out on paying, you’re a citizen of Sunagakure, just like everyone else!”
I roll my eyes. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Christ, you’re starting to sound like my dad. Calm down, I have money today or whatever.” I lean my arm against the table, using my free hand to dig through my pocket, pulling out a few bills and slapping them on the counter. “Now, gimme a carton of your best, and make it quick.”
The man gave me one last lingering glare before promptly turning his back toward me, browsing the continuous amounts of cigarettes that were just waiting to be in my mouth (not that I can blame them, though).
“Excuse me, sir! Hi, um, can you tell me where I can find the Items Shop is?”
I look up quickly. That voice. I know that voice anywhere.
I shoot my neck around so fast I could have hurt myself. My eyes search frantically, trying to find where the voice was coming from. Then I spotted her. Chouko Akimichi, right there, across the street from me, talking to some guy she had no business to.
What was she doing here, anyway? Last we talked, she was pissed at me, not that it’s anything new. Couldn’t help but feel my heart race, though. Seeing Chouko was always like seeing her for the first time.
I push the thoughts away, straining to hear the rest of their conversation.
“The Item Shop?” Old guy says slowly, bringing a hand to his chin. Chouko smiled faintly but I could tell she was losing her patience.
“Here are your items—“ Cashier slams my ciggs on the counter. I shush him without making eye contact, till focused on my girl.
“Yes, the Item Shop,” Chouko said sheepishly. “See, I’m not from around here, and I don’t come here very often..so I’m a little lost..”
“You aren’t from around here? Where are you from, sweetie?”
“Um, I’m from Konoha. It’s a bit of a walk from here. I was sent by Lady Hokage.”
“Ah, The Leaf Village? I should have known! You’re dressed more brightly than any sand-nin I’ve seen. It’s very fitting for you.”
Chouko blushed. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. This guy really needed to stop talking.
“Thank you,” Chouko responded. “But uh, can you tell me where the shop is? This run is really important.”
“Oh, right, right! The Item Shop…”
Jesus Christ this guy was taking for-fucking-ever. I blindly reach for my purchase, my entire body now transitioning into autopilot. “Thanks, old man.” I wave distractedly. As I exited the store I head him sigh.
My body was moving but what the fuck am I gunna say when I approach her? Not like she’s gunna be happy to see me…I have to think of something quick so she won’t have time to get away. She’s really good at that, escaping situations.
“Oi, I think I can help you out,” The words came flying out of my mouth before I had even finished crossing the street. It got her attention, though. She turned, her bright blue eyes catching mine, widening slightly in surprise. Ha, I was half expecting her to frown at me.
“Jenko,” she breathed as I became closer. I gave her my best smile. She only looked away. “What are you doing here?”
“Whaddaya mean? I live here, I should be asking you that question, babe.”
“I meant what are you doing here? I…wasn’t expecting you to be here.”
“I just happened to stop by. Looks like you need a little help.”
I nod to the old man, subtly hinting for him to get lost. Surprisingly he gets it, and leaves without a saying a word. Chouko opened her mouth to say something about it but I stepped in front of her to keep her attention.
“The place you’re looking for is right around the corner,” I tell her, wrapping my arm around her as I pointed in said direction. “Down the street, take a left, it’s right next to the Houkenjo Baths. You’ll see a big sign.”
Her lips remain thin as she stares at me for a moment before removing my arm from her. I frown.
“Thanks for the help,” she murmurs, stepping away. “Love to stay and talk, but I really need to get going.”
“Why the rush?” I ask, stepping closer to her. She steps away again. I start to get annoyed. “I can walk you there if you’d like. My apartment complex is on the way there, anyway.”
“Really, Jenko, it’s fine. You don’t need to. I’ll be fine by myself.” Chouko turns to leave. I grab her arm without thinking.
Not this time, Cho, You aren’t running away again.
“Why are you so quick to get away from me?” I ask, trying to search her eyes but she wouldn’t let me. “This is the first time I’ve seen you in a long ass time and you don’t even want to be around me? Why?”
“Jenko, this seriously isn’t the time,” Chouko spoke hesitantly, trying to pull her arm away. “And you know why we haven’t seen each other. You know I’m seeing someone.”
My eyes narrow slightly. “You’re still seeing Taira? He’s such a fucking loser, Cho, seriously. Like what attracts you to him? Better be good if it’s keeping you away from me.”
“What’s keeping me away from you is you!” This time she pushed me away, causing me to stumble back in surprise.
“What?!”
“You didn’t want a relationship, remember? You wanted to be free so I gave you that. I’m happy with Taira, so get over yourself, Jenko!”
She frowned hard at me before spinning on her heel, storming off down the street.
“Chouko! Chouko come back here!” I call after her, but it’s obvious as she blatantly ignores me. I groan loudly. I feel the eyes of many citizens on me, but I don’t care. This sort of thing happens often.
This girl will seriously be the death of me.

“Jenko? Jenko! Wake up!”
I’m startled awake by someone violently shaking me. I sit up, obviously angry because who the fuck tries to give someone a heart attack when they’re fucking sleeping?!
“What is your deal?” I snap. As my vision clears I realize that I was yelling at a ridiculously gorgeous blonde laying scantily clad in my bed beside me. Not that I really cared, this girl meant shit to me. After Chouko left me, embarrassed, in the middle of the street, this chick rolls up next to me, talking to me about how she’s been watching me for a while, talking to me about how she knows what I want and what I like and will give me the ultimate satisfaction. Of course I’m questioning this, never met the bitch in my life. Honestly I was more into wanting to catch Chouko and get her to stop bullshitting, but blondie drops a hint that she’s got drugs, and suddenly I was down to hang out with her. And, being the gentlemen that I am, I invite the girl back to my place. Figured I’d start fresh with Chouko in the morning.
Turns out this girl was more boring than watching fucking paint dry. Like, honestly, I would have had more fun beating off by myself. She wouldn’t fucking shut her trap, first of all, and she was way too giggly for me. I was so close to just kicking her out after the first hour, but she was nice enough to split her triple x with me, and she had a shit ton of it, so I stuck through it until I was so fucking faded that I couldn’t figure out where the hell I even was.
After hotboxing for a few the bitch started getting handsy, so I decided, what the hell, she shared her shit, might as well give her something to tell her friends later, am I right? So I get her into my bed, right underneath me, start getting her all hot by feeling her itty bitty titties and kissing her neck. Then she started giggling again. Like a goddamn child. Whatever hard on I had instantly disappeared, which was okay, cause home girl was out like a fucking light after I paused for a moment to decide if I wanted to continue.
Blessings come in all sorts, I guess.
But anyway, so blondie is staring at me now, green eyes dark and cloudy. She was still way too far gone.
“Sorry,” she whispered. “You’re phone’s been ringing and it woke me up..”
“Don’t apologize, sorry for snappin’” I grin faintly before turning my attention to my night stand.
Clock reads 3:30.
“Who the fuck is trying to reach me at three a.m?” I wonder aloud. I wait for the mousy blonde to respond but heard faint snores. She was out again.
I roll my eyes, reaching for my phone. I squint as the LED light burns my retinas, but they quickly widen, seeing who had been trying to contact me.
“Chouko?” I breath softly, now sitting up, making sure not to disturb the girl next to me. Chouko called me. No, Chouko’s been calling me. She had called me twelve times in the past hour. How the fuck haven’t I not heard this?
My heart almost explodes as the device begins to vibrate in my hand. She was calling me again. I fumble clumsily, slightly unsure of what this meant. Either way, I had to be cool about it.
I answer the phone, giving a soft “Hello?”
“Jenko?” Her voice was just as soft. “Where’ve you been? I’ve been trying to reach you…”
“Yeah, I can tell,” I joke. She lets out a single laugh. It made me feel a little more at ease.
“Sorry, where you asleep? I didn’t mean to wake you—“
“W-no, no, it’s fine, I’m fine. What’s up, doll? What do you need at 3am?”
She was silent for a moment before mumbling, “I…need you.”
Wait did I hear that correctly?
“What?”
“I need you, Jenko. I really need you right now.”
Music to my fucking ears! I try to suppress the happiness in my voice. “What? Why? Why do you need me?”
“I…I’ve been thinking about you a lot, lately…and I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” I blurted. I then shook my head. Way to go, Jenko, sounding desperate as hell. “I mean, well you know…it’s been a really long time.”
“Can you come over?”
“To Konoha? At this hour? I mean, no trouble, but—“
“No, I’m still in Suna. I’m staying at the hotel, next to the Sandstorm Bar…”
Well, that changes everything. “That’s great. Gimme a few minutes and I’ll be there.”
“I’ll wait for you outside.” She then hung up.
I can’t help but smirk to myself. I had no idea how long I have been waiting to hear Chouko say that to me again. Feels good, y’know? That girl gets my heart beating, double time.
I swing my legs over the bed, standing up to stretch. I’m starting to get dressed before I hear a rustling come from behind me.
“Jenkun,” The girl whines. “Where are you going? It’s late. Come back to bed.”
I opened my mouth to say ‘The hell I would’, but then thought better of it.
“I have to go,” I tell her, trying to avoid using her name as much as possible. Like hell I knew it. I grunted, pulling on a pair of sweatpants. “Something important happened. Someone needs me and I feel like I should be there. I need to be there.”
I pulled on a light sweater before aimlessly looking for a pair of shoes. I hear the girl get out of bed, coming up behind me, leaning her head against my back.
“I wanna go with you.”
“What?” I ask, not hiding my surprise. “Why?”
“’Cause…I think I’m In love with you.” She responded, wrapping her frail arms around my torso, clinging to me.
I roll my eyes as I pry myself away from her. “Yeah, I bet you do.”
I usher the girl back into my bed. “You’re still a little woozy, so you can stay here for the night, okay?”
She muttered a thank you before tossing over, almost instantly going back to sleep. I decided that I’d deal with her later, if she doesn’t come to her sense and get the fuck up out my house when I come back. I desperately hoped she’d be gone by then, because my plans were to bring Chouko back here by the afternoon.
After getting her situated, I slipped on my shoes and flew down my flight of stairs, my excitement overwhelming me. It was only a five minute walk to the Hotel, but I was in a rush to get there in two.
As I made my way down the desolate, chilly streets I light up whatever had been in my pocket. I semi-hoped it was tobacco.

This shouldn’t be happening.
Of all the things Chouko could have possibly fathomed happening, there was absolutely no way he thought he would be here, in this situation, right here, right now.
He stood awkwardly in the preparation room, unsure if the area was too hot or if it was just the fabric of his ANBU outfit; unsure if he could keep himself sane, unsure if he wanted to stay, or run back to his apartment and never come out. He squeezed his eyes shut. Too many thoughts, too many feelings…
Chouko now felt sick to his stomach. It had been two years. Two whole years since she…vanished. Just disappeared, just like that. Two years that had tormented him, tortured him; sent him through an emotional rollercoaster trying to find her…She was here, now. She was waiting for him, just down the hallway, on the other side of a door. He hadn’t seen her in two years. God, had it really been that long?
Two years… The words echoed through the Akimichi like a broken record—painfully replaying the same bit of information over and over again, threatening to drive the young man mad.
“Hey, you okay?”
The sudden presence behind him was enough to startle the man, turning quickly only to face his best friend and newly-appointed squad leader, who was just as surprised by Chouko’s actions than Chouko was by his.
Shakino gave his friend a sympathetic smile as Chouko sighed in attempt to calm down from the scare. “You seem…tense.” The blonde began, deep brown eyes searching over Chouko’s distressed frame. “You want a drink or something?”
“I’m fine,” Chouko replied wearily before taking a seat on the nearby bench. Shakino was quick to sit next to him. “It’s just…goddamn, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”
“Interrogate. Get in, get out. That’s all you have to do.”
“I know that,” Chouko snapped, eyeing his friend. “You know that’s not what I meant, Shakino.”
Shakino huffed, reaching his arms behind his head, leaning against the cool concrete wall. He let his eyes slip shut. “Yeah, I know, I was just trying to get you to at least crack a smirk.” The blonde cracked an eye open, watching Chouko stare blankly at the floor. “Ever since you’ve been assigned to this mission, you’ve been acting like a maniac. You need to calm down, bro.”
“Yeah, and how am I supposed to do that?” came Chouko’s heated reply, now cradling his face in his hands. He clutched fistfuls of his hair. “My only mission was to retrieve her, to bring her back. No one…no one said anything about me interrogating her. I can’t even…I can barely face her, now. I have so many questions I want to ask her. I want to know why she fucking left. Why she left me…”
Shakino brought his arms down, watching Chouko sink deeper and deeper into a darker place unknown to him. Surprisingly, he had nothing to say, not at the moment. He had no idea what was whirling through Chouko’s mind, and Shakino feared he would only make it worse. It was true, Chouko’s main mission was to bring the target back to Suna, where she would later be questioned, possibly tortured, and punished for the uproar that was caused. But before anything else was decided, Chouko was appointed to help interrogate the prisoner, only because it was stated Chouko would have a better chance of getting through than any other ninja, which, for this situation, was true.
As soon as he had gotten word of what was to happen next, Shakino tried to take Chouko’s place—he even tried bargain with his longtime girlfriend Isamashii, who was the current commander of the operation. Unfortunately, Isa explained that though she had a pretty high ranking in the ANBU, it was not only the Hokage’s, but also the Kazekage’s orders that it would be Chouko, and Chouko alone.
And the fact that he had to see his closest friend in such a stressed state only made Shakino feel even worse. He wanted nothing more but to help the Akimichi heir, but alas, he couldn’t.
In a final attempt of consolation, Shakino placed a firm hand on Chouko’s broad shoulder, patting it apologetically. “Listen to me, bro. Everything’s gonna be fine. Just clear your head, and stick to the orders. You’re the only one that has a chance of being successful. I promise you, you’ll get the answers you need when everything’s calmed down some…” He paused for a moment before adding, “Think of it this way. If she cooperates as smoothly as we have planned, she might get off easy. Maybe not with a warning, but…she won’t be locked away forever.”
Chouko brought his head of slightly, his expression hard. “I appreciate what you’re doing, but that really didn’t help. Not at all.”
“Sorry, I’m really at a loss of words here.” Shakino gave his friend a small smile, removing his hand from Chouko’s frame and letting it rest peacefully on his lap. “But seriously, you’ll be fine, everything’ll be fine. Don’t think too hard on it.”
Chouko could only nod slowly, his bangs now blocking Shakino out of his peripherals. He really wished he could believe Shakino, he really did. But he knew, somewhere deep in his gut, that something was going to go horribly wrong, and he might be the one to blame.
Before Chouko could delve any deeper into his muddled state of mind, an older nin approached the two, his eyes locked on Chouko, who quickly straightened.
“Are you ready?” The man asked, his voice deep and smooth.
Chouko snorted. “What happens if I say I’m not?”
“It wasn’t a question, Mr. Akimichi.”
The serious tone in his voice was enough for both boys body’s to stiffen.
Breaking the silence with a light cough, Shakino nudged his friend, smirking toward the older nin. “Yeah, he’s ready.” He earned a dirty glare from Chouko, which Shakino chose to ignore. He’d deal with the drama king later. “Is everything set in place for Mr. Akimichi, here?”
“Yes, sir.”
Upon hearing the response, Chouko’s eyes darted from the older nin, to Shakino, back to the older nin. Sometimes it was hard to remember that Shakino wasn’t that far under Isamashii when it came to rankings…and the fact that the two most powerful young adults in the force were in a steady relationship did nothing but help add to their ‘power’. However, it was something that was never really questioned, and Chouko made sure to keep it that way.
Shakino nudged him again. “Get going, man. I’ll see you once you’re out.”
Chouko stared at his friend for a moment before shaking his head, raising an arm to pull off the hair-tie that was cutting off the circulation in his wrist, proceeding to fashion his hair into its usual ponytail, using those solid few seconds of silence to finish gathering the rest of his thoughts and feelings, locking them away in the vault of his heart.
“Yeah, whenever that will be.” Chouko replied, slowly bringing himself to his feet. He looked at Shakino, sharing one more silent agreement before turning his attention to the older nin, giving him a sharp nod. The guard returned the nod before leading him away.
Shakino let out another soft sigh, watching the two men disappear behind a corner. “Shit,” he grumbled, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. “I hope he’s gonna be okay…”
“Who, Chouko?”
Shakino’s eyes darted toward the sound of the voice, only to be met by Isamashii, who stood a few steps next to him. The Nara grinned as he slid himself over to where Chouko had once say, patting the now empty seat next to him, urging his girlfriend to sit. “Yeah, Chouko. This must be the hardest thing he’s ever going to have to do.”
Isa obliged, placing herself next to him before crossing her legs. “You mean, other than marriage?”
Shakino rolled his eyes. “That’s different. That boy’s been talkin’ marriage before we even knew what that shit was. He’s prepared for that kind of stuff. He was…he was never prepared for something like this…”
Isamashii gave Shakino a concerned look, but silently agreed with a nod of her head, her platinum blonde hair cascading with the movement. “I understand. This is going to be quite the difficult task.”
“And there’s no way I can help ‘em out? Like I can’t sit in on the interrogation or anything?”
“Trust me, if there was anything you could do, I would have told you.” Isa sighed, her eyes now focused on her lap. “But this is Chouko’s mission. I mean, he’s the only one we can fully rely on as the key to getting her to talk. She refused everyone else, but Chouko…You saw the look on her face when he found her. She threatened to kill everyone else on her retrieval squad. But when she saw him…”
“Yeah, I know.”
“And of course, when he saw her…God, he must be so torn…”
“Yeah…”
The two fell into an awkward silence, both now unsure of what to say. It was broken a few moments after Shakino cleared his throat.
“Chouko’s my boy. He’s one of the best members on the team. I’m sure he’ll be fine. Even with everything that’s going on, he knows what he has to do. He knows.”
“We can only hope, Shakino.” Isamashii stood up then, brushing off the tops of her thighs before placing a few strands of hair behind her ears. “If you’ll excuse me, I have some paperwork to take care off. You know where to find me if something happens.”
Shakino nodded and waved the girl off, now completely alone. His eyes drifted back to where Chouko had disappeared to, resting his chin in the palm of his calloused hand.
“We can only hope, huh?”
~ ~ ~
“Do you remember the plan, Mr. Akimichi?” The guard asked for the hundredth time, causing Chouko to wince inwardly. If he had to hear him say that one more time he swore he would turn around and storm out.
“Yeah, I remember.” Chouko responded, trying desperately to keep his tone in check. He waited anxiously in the holding area, alternating his weight from foot to foot as he stared hard at the only thing separating him and his worst nightmare. He was so close, it was if he could almost taste her scent leaking through the crack of the metal door, and the thought only made him more antsy.
Just a few more seconds and I’ll have to face her… He began to chew on his lower lip, which already had a bit of damage from the previous morning. He was sweating now, unsure if he would be able to keep himself cool and collected any longer. But even then, he forced with all the strength he had left to keep his feelings in.
“Keep this in mind,” The older male began, bringing the Akimichi out of his thoughts. “She’s been interrogated all morning, and none of them have been successful. She is smart, stubborn, and incredibly sly. Don’t let your guard down for a single second, Akimichi.”
It was all Chouko could do to repress an eye roll. “Anything else I need to know?”
“She’s incredibly violent.”
“You say that as if it’s something new.”
“She’s in another state of mind, Akimichi. You may be the key to getting her to talk, but that doesn’t mean you should take her so lightly. Who’s to say she just won’t try and kill you?”
“She won’t.” Chouko looked the older nin straight in the eye, his aqua orbs darkening considerably. Any signs of his worry or doubt seeming to have turned off. He was in full ANBU mode. “If there was even a slight chance of her remotely trying to kill me, I wouldn’t have been chosen for this stupid mission, isn’t that right?”
The guard narrowed his eyes but dared not say another word. He only let out a grunt, his hand reaching for the doorknob.
“Don’t get too cocky, Akimichi, I mean it. Watch your back, and definitely watch what she says. Make sure you always have the upper hand. Remember, once you enter through this door, it’ll only be you, and her. No one will be watching, and guards will only be circling to check up on your progress every thirty minutes, and until then, no one will be able to help you.”
“Yeah, I understand that.” Chouko clenched his fist, breathing deeply in through his nose and out through his mouth. He was ready. He was ready. It was time to face her like the man he had become. “I’m ready. Now, let me in.”
The guard gave him one last hard look before unlocking the door and forcing it open. Chouko nodded in thanks before sauntering through, with the door closing steadily behind him.
As he walked his breathing quickened, and it took all of his might to not jump as the door fully shut, the metal lock echoing throughout the emptiness of the room that seemed to be a cross of a cell and an investigation room—it was hard to tell, it was very poorly lit which made it quite hard for him to see—
But, he would be lying if he said his heart didn’t almost shoot through his chest when he was faced with her silhouette. For that moment, he felt weak. He felt immense regret, and frightened, and confused all at the same time. It was still a wonder what this woman could do to him, and his eyes hadn’t even adjusted to fully see her yet. It was cruel, he concluded. It was just too cruel.
Chouko swallowed hard, forcing himself to approach the table where she was patiently waiting, even if with every step, he felt as if she was becoming farther and farther away. He was never going to forget this. He was never going to forgive himself for this. But it had to be done, and it was killing him to do so.
“It’s been a while, Choukun.”
And then she spoke. Her voice rang as clear as day. It was the same before she had left, as if she had never left at all. Her voice was enough to stop Chouko in his tracks, his fists clenched tight at his sides. He saw the gleam of her smirk from his reaction.
Recollecting himself, Chouko frowned, now close enough to identify her a bit more clearly than before.
“Yeah…it’s truly been sometime…Jenchan.”
~ ~ ~
“Well, are you going to take a seat or just stand there like an idiot?” Jenko’s spoke harshly, her eyes never leaving Chouko’s, which narrowed considerably from the comment. Without a word, he pulled out his chair and plopped himself down, his knees hitting the table violently as he did so. Jenko didn’t flinch. “I thought so. I doubt you’d have stood there all that time—“
“Shut up, Jenko, I’ve got no time for your childish little games.” Chouko’s words were quick and painful, which caught Jenko slightly off guard. She wasn’t expecting him to be so cold, so quickly.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to see me?” She asked sweetly, giving him one of her best smiles, her dimple piercings glistening in the little light that was given. When Chouko didn’t respond, she frowned. “I guess you aren’t, then?”
The only thing Chouko could do was stare. As his eyes were finishing adjusting the dim lighting, he could now more easily make out Jenko’s features, which had changed significantly since the last time he had seen her. Just from a first glance, he could tell that she had lost a bit of weight—they had given her an awful orange dress for her to wear, and it was too lose for someone of her size--, and her skin was noticeably paler than he had ever seen before. Her hair had gotten longer, too, especially where it had once been shaved. Her eyes were still as blue as ever, but there was nothing behind them. They were dark, cold, almost soulless. Maybe she hadn’t slept in days.
But what really stood out were her bruises—some looking frighteningly fresh. She had markings decorating her face—on her cheeks, neck, arms; her lip seemed to have been split, and her right eye was a light purple-ish color, definitely not hiding the fact that she had been knocked around quite a few times.
Was this the same woman that he had fell in love with?...
The site made Chouko want to vomit. It made him uncontrollably angry. The thought of someone ever laying a hand on Jenko almost caused him to break character—oh, he definitely was going to let the squad have it when he was done with her—but again, he locked any feelings that threatened the mission away. He couldn’t break, not now.
“You look like hell,” he finally said, forcing himself to tear his eyes away from her face. Jenko frowned again, catching his action.
“Wow, that’s what every woman wants to hear,” she said bitterly, drumming her fingers against the table, her cuffs only adding to the noise. “But, I guess that’s appropriate, seeing as I’ve been going through all forms of it. Not that you care, anyway.”
“You’re right, I don’t.” When he saw the surprise in Jenko’s face Chouko wanted to throw himself off a bridge. He knew he sounded cold, but it was necessary—Isamashii had told him so.
But fuck it still hurt him to say it, and it hurt him even more when he saw her reaction. It pained him even more as he forced himself to keep going. “Jenko, don’t expect me to fall for your little tricks. It’s been years.”
“Tricks?” Jenko huffed. “I’m not trying any tricks.” This was not the Choukun she wanted to see. Not at all.
“You think you can frustrate me, I can tell by the way you’re acting.” Chouko stated, too coolly for Jenko’s comfort. “I’m working for the Black Ops, Jenko. You’re going to have to do a bit more than revert to your old ways to get me to crack.”
Jenko narrowed her eyes, which hurt a little, but not enough for her to react. Before she could respond, Chouko went on.
“Anyway, now that I see you’re done playing around, let’s get down to business. Jenko, you have quite the strikes against you—“
“Oh yeah? Like what?”
“Well for starters, you went rogue for almost three years.”
“So?”
Not to mention the ninja you have killed trying to get you back.”
“That was self-protection.”
“That was murder,” Chouko pointed out. “and potentially treason. We both know you have exceptional extensive knowledge of certain information regarding Sunagakure, and of course, the Kazekage. No one knows what you’ve been doing, or who you’ve been talking to. It’s safe to say that at this very moment, you cannot be trusted.”
“So what? I didn’t murder anyone, I was only protecting myself.” Jenko restated, annoyed.
“We have several reports saying otherwise, Jenko.”
“I didn’t want anyone fucking coming after me. I told them to back off. If they didn’t listen, that’s their own dumbass fault.”
“You aren’t helping your case, especially when the evidence is against you.”
Jenko bit her lip, glaring hard into Chouko’s chest. This wasn’t the Chouko she remembered, oh no—This Chouko sounded as if he had been rehearsing a script. These weren’t his words, these were the words he was forced to remember, and recite. He would never be so cold, so hurtful. He’d never be so set on putting her away…would he?
“This is so stupid!” She exclaimed. Chouko remained dormant. “You really think I just killed these people? God, Chouko, I’m not fucking stupid. I’m pretty fucking aware that I left the village, and I know pretty damn well that I’d have a bounty to bring me back dead or alive. With my knowledge and skills, I’d be classified as an S-rank, which every single little fucker could figure out for themselves. They knew what they were getting into. You knew. They attacked me first. I defended myself. That’s that.”
Chouko still didn’t respond. All he did was stare. And all this did was piss Jenko off. Why was he looking at her like that? Did he not believe her?
This is ridiculous! She fumed, now scratching her nails against the wooden surface of the table. She twitched as she watched Chouko lean forward, picking up the glass of water that had been sitting in front of him and sipping it quietly, his eyes locked on hers, almost challengingly. I was expecting him to be a little rough, but…
Jenko bit her lip, the two now sitting in a very uncomfortable silence. What is his deal? She frowned her eyes searching frantically to find out what had changed about the man she had—begrudgingly—left behind all that time ago; hoping that he would lean in close and tell her that this was all part of an elaborate escape plan, or that he had begged her uncle to go easy on her in regards to her punishment…but the longer Chouko sat there in silence, the more she realized this was real. Chouko wasn’t here to get her out, or be her loving boyfriend, or even a comrade. He was her interrogator, and nothing more.
Jenko ceased her tapping, trying to gather her wits. Despite the horrid situation, she was confident in her abilities to have Chouko melting in her hands. If she was certain about anything, it was his unconditional love for her. Besides, he couldn’t have changed that much, right?
“Oi,” She spoke suddenly, catching the younger male’s attention. “How long are you going to sit and stare? Might as well take a picture, it lasts longer.” Jenko smirked, leaning back in her seat. “Not that you don’t already have enough pictures of me. All of me.”
Chouko rolled his eyes, making Jenko wince. “What are you talking about?”
“What do you mean what am I talking about?” Jenko asked, struggling to hide the surprise in her tone. “You have tons of pictures of me. Most of them are nudes. And I know you didn’t forget that, ‘cause my body is pretty fuckin’ unforgettable.”
The Akimichi grabbed his chin, contemplating what the kunoichi had said. Jenko could feel her patience slipping.
“Oh, those.” Chouko shrugged. “I threw those away a long time ago.”
“What?” The word flew from Jenko lips before she had a to stop herself. “What do you mean you threw those away?”
“It means exactly what you think it means.” Chouko shrugged again. “I took your photos, and I put them in a trash can.”
It was a lie, but he had to start somewhere. Chouko knew Jenko would try to pick at his feelings for her, in fact, he expected it. But that didn’t make it any easier to appear as if he wasn’t interested.
As expected, he saw Jenko draw back slightly, but she was quick to come back from it. “Why the hell would you just up and throw them away? I don’t do that for just any guy, you know.”
“So what? Nothing that you showed me was a secret. You were a stripper for a time, remember?”
“What the fuck is that even—“ Jenko’s fists clenched angrily. “That doesn’t mean anything! Christ, what kind of boyfriend are you?”
“I’m not your boyfriend anymore, Jenko.” Chouko blew his bangs away from his eyes. “We broke up when you decided to leave.”
Jenko unleashed a frustrated growl, her teeth grinding. “I left for a reason. A reason you wouldn’t understand—“
“And what reason would that be? How could I not understand if you never told me anything, Jenko?”
His words ripped through her. Why was he being so cruel?
“I didn’t tell you because I couldn’t!” She stressed, her tapping against the table beginning again. “I don’t always need you in my business, Chouko!”
“Well look at where that fucking got you, Jenko!” Chouko exclaimed, his icy blues glaring daggers into Jenko’s frame. He had never looked at her that way before. “You decided to keep shit to yourself, and you fucking ran away. Mind you, you didn’t even give me a warning, you just fucking left! You didn’t even give me a chance to help you!”
“I didn’t need your help!” She fired back. “I didn’t need anyone’s help. It wasn’t like I wasn’t going to come back. And it’s not like I was hurting anyone or anything. I needed to deal with things and I needed to do it my way. I don’t know what else to tell you.”
“You can be so selfish!” Chouko finally exploded, his hands slamming hard against the table. Jenko’s eyes widened slightly, but she couldn’t help but be pleased that he was finally showing some form of emotion. “How can you sit there and say you weren’t hurting anyone? Like, are you even a real fucking person, Jenko?”
“W-Well, I—“
“I had to wake up, at all hours of the fucking night, from a frantic call from your brother, telling me he hadn’t been since in weeks, that no one had. That there was no trace of you. I searched for you, day in and day out, every fucking day—it wouldn’t have killed you to at least leave a motherfucking note!”
“See? I told you, you wouldn’t understand!” Jenko scowled. “How could you be so cruel? Instead of trying to put yourself into my shoes, you sit there and yell at me!—“
“Stop being such a goddamn child, you’re twenty-three years old, start acting like it!”
Jenko stared at Chouko, absolutely horrified with the words spewing from his mouth, but couldn’t find anything else to respond with. She just sat there, glowering at him, waiting for whatever hurtful thing he was going to say next. So far, her plan of “making him melt” wasn’t working the way she wanted.
Chouko pinched the bridge of his nose, forcing himself back under control. He couldn’t lose himself, not at such a crucial moment.
“Look, that all doesn’t even matter now,” He began slowly, bringing his eyes back to hers. “We aren’t together, not anymore. I’ve moved on.”
Jenko let out a forced, breathy laugh. “You moved on? Do you even know what that means?”
Chouko narrowed his eyes. “I’m very familiar with what that means. But do you?”
“Of course I do, you idiot. But I know you’re lying. You’re still hopelessly in love with me.”
“I’m not lying. I’m with another woman, now.”
Jenko scoffed, the information seeming unreal. “As if you’d let yourself fall for another wo—“
“I did. And she’s carrying my unborn child. A son. My son.”
Jenko sat up, eyes wide with disbelief. "You got that bitch pregnant?" She couldn't control the sudden rise of volume in her voice. "Are you fucking serious, Chouko?"
Happy 21st Birthday to Ilyse, Jenko's founder and my lovely, lovely partner in crime!

“Chouko, what the fuck are you even doing in there?” Jenko asked for the fifth time, his eyes drawn to the revolving ceiling fan above his bed, trying to figure out just how long his girlfriend had been in the bathroom, and why exactly wasn’t she out of there already. He tried to distract himself with his stash of assorted drugs, but was quickly becoming annoyed by how long Chouko was taking for, what he thought to be, a simple shower.
The sand nin groaned loudly when Chouko didn’t respond to his question fast enough, bringing a cigarette to his lips, inhaling deeply before letting a thick cloud of smoke exit the confines of his mouth. His thoughts were becoming more hazy with every hit he took, but he found that the cause was that he was more so focused on the Akimichi in the other room. The more he thought about her, the more he realized…that she was really all he could think about—at least, as of lately. It was strange, really, especially when they had been spending so much time together; their relationship had been patching up nicely, and was probably better than it ever really had been—but could that be the reasoning behind why Jenko’s thoughts had been so wrapped up on her?
Before Jenko could dive deeper into his thoughts, he heard the door open, quickly turning his head, only to be met with a slightly damp—and incredibly nude—Chouko, who’s arms were folder over her chest, her lips fully formed into a pout.
“Where are all of your towels?” She asked, her tone sounding more annoyed than angry. “I’ve been in there searching for one and, surprise surprise, you don’t have any I can use. The wetness is making me cold!”
Jenko could only smirk at Chouko’s disdain, which only caused the girl to pout even more than she was. He let his eyes roam her figure slowly, admiring how evenly tanned Chouko’s skin was, and how her cheeks puffed out whenever she would pout, and how her pink lips would poke out with them, giving her a small look of innocence while still managing to look extremely sexy. His eyes soon left her lips and fell to her well-defined collarbone, and from there, he admired her toned biceps, and slowly landed on the fullness of her breasts, making sure not to miss the piercings through her nipples, which he appreciated greatly.
From there, Jenko let his eyes wander down her tummy, noting that the chub that collected there only served to add to Chouko’s level of sexiness, and the softness of her skin would leave him aching to touch her for days. He then took a moment to visually worship the Akimichi’s wide hips and thick thighs and equally thick calves, knowing firsthand just how much power resided within them. Lastly, his eyes were drawn to the patch of hair that rested in between the kunoichi’s legs, the only place that truly indicated that Chouko wasn’t the little teenage girl that he thought would never become anything to him. She was a full grown woman, now—his fully grown woman—that he had completely fallen head over heels for, and would give her anything in the world, while killing anyone who got in the way of it.
“Stop staring at me like that. It’s weird.” Chouko suddenly spoke, bringing Jenko out of his stupor. He brought his eyes to hers, noticing a faint tint quickly rising on her cheeks. It was then that he had realized, Chouko was not displaying her usual face paint. Jenko took pride in this, of course; he knew he was only one of a select few that got to see Chouko’s face completely nude(he was the same way) and he felt reveled in knowing this fact.
His smirked widened. “Sorry babe, it’s a bad habit,” He let out a soft chuckle when she openly scoffed. Jenko then patted the tops of his thighs, taking a moment to take another hit. “You don’t need a towel, anyway—you look fine the way you are now. Now c’mere. Sit on daddy’s lap.”
Chouko rolled her eyes dramatically to Jenko’s statement, but his crudeness didn’t stop her from sauntering toward him, the bed creaking as she joined him on the bed, crawling on top of the built sand nin until she sat comfortably on his lower stomach, her weight causing them both to sink deeper into the mattress. Jenko used his free hand and gripped the side of Chouko’s hip, keeping her secure, which Chouko didn’t mind.
Chouko smiled down at her man, water droplets from her hair decorating his chest, watching how his muscles twitched from the touch. “How was your day, Jen?” She asked sweetly, her fingers now tracing where the droplets had fallen. “Did Gaara treat you well?”
Jenko shrugged. “More or less. Ran a few errands, read through and organized a few files. It was a pretty boring day. What about you? How’s the whole ‘sensei training’ thing coming along?”
“Oh Jenko, I love it,” Chouko gushed. “I can’t wait until I become an actual sensei—the kids I’m working with now are so adorable. Having my own cell would be absolutely amazing!”
Jenko nodded, lifting his hand, taking another hit, one much deeper than the last, and coughing a few times as a result. With an eyebrow raised, Chouko watched as Jenko released another cloud of smoke, the power from his coughs causing her to jolt slightly. “…Just how high are you?”
“High enough,” The answer came out short and simple, and Jenko didn’t seem to care one bit about how Chouko’s question had a hint of a negative tone, thinking that it probably wasn’t intentional. “We’ve been living together for a while now, Cho. You should know my daily rituals by now.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Chouko’s snapped, but quickly regained her calm composure. “It was just a simple question, that’s all.”
He gave her a curious look. “You want a hit?”
The Akimichi hesitated for a moment, but ended up nodding slowly just a few seconds after. “Sure, why not?”
Jenko smirked from the response as he handed her the joint, only to smirk wider from how quick she was to snatch it away from him, bringing the cigarette to her lips, preparing to take a hit for herself. While this was happening, Jenko stretched beneath Chouko, his eyes never leaving her form. He opened his mouth to say something before closing it again, not really sure on what exactly he was trying to say, or if he really had anything to say at all. No, that was wrong, he did have something to say…
But how was he going to say it?
“Oi, Chouko,” He started slowly, now caressing her hips as an attempt to make himself less nervous. “Speaking of…y’know…living together and shit…”
“Hmm?” She hummed as she inhaled deeply, months of watching Jenko preform the same trick paying off greatly. She exhaled steadily, erupting in a few small coughs by the end. “What about it?”
“Eh…It’s just….I’ve just been thinking and stuff. Like, there’s something that I think I’ve been meaning to tell you. Well, ask you, really. I don’t really know what the fuck I’m tryin’ to say here, shit…”

“That idiot,” Chouko mumbled under her breath as she hiked through Sunagakure, her destination being the Kankuro compound, in search of one ninja in particular: Jenko. He had called her an hour before, complaining about something—she could barely make out what he was saying, it was so jumbled up. All she could make out was “Help, need, now!” and as much as Chouko wanted to ignore his shenanigans, she knew that there could be a possibility that the poor boy had gotten himself into some trouble, especially due to the fact that both Kankuro and Akiko were not home for the week. Chouko rolled her eyes as she quickened her pace, eyeing the Kazekage mansion just a few meters away from her. “This better be fucking important if he has me coming all the way from Konoha in the middle of the night…”
It was chilly and dark, and Chouko was having everything but a good time. She had left her home in such a hurry that she forgot to grab a jacket, and now she was suffering the consequences. The faster she got to Jenko’s the better. As she approached the mansion, Chouko casually took a right, now heading toward the large building that was connected, relieved that she was only a few seconds away from figuring out what the hell was up with him. Finally, when Chouko had reached her destination, she stood impatiently in front of the large wooden door, lifting her fist, placing a few erratic knocks. She waited a few moments, her foot tapping rhythmically against the ground beneath her, waiting for Jenko to open the door. Chouko proceeded to knock again, confused. What in the world was taking him so long to open the damn door?
After several moments of silence, Chouko reached for the doorknob, twisting slightly. So it was open! Well, that was weird. Did he intentionally leave the door open for her? Ugh, because that made sense. More annoyed than what she was when she first arrived, Chouko forced her way into the house, slamming the door behind her, making sure Jenko knew she had entered the household. “Jenko?” She called out, removing her sandals and shin guards, thankful that the inside of the house was way warmer than it was outside. She stood for a moment, turning her head slowly from left to right, looking for any sign of the nin in question, but he was nowhere in sight.
“Jenko? Jenko, where the hell are you…?” Chouko narrowed her eyes as she heard silence in response. She groan loudly, heading toward the stairwell, feet stomping heavily on every stair. Ugh, what’s his deal? She thought, frustration increasing with each step. He calls me over with no explanation whatsoever, then he’s totally MIA? This is ridiculous…
The Akimichi rounded the corner, heading toward Jenko’s room, slightly surprised that the door was oddly left open. But, Chouko was too upset to really be surprised with him, aggressively appearing through the door way, fist clenched and ready to fight. “Jenko, I’ve been looking all over for y---“
Her frown fell, not expecting to find Jenko laying peacefully on his bed, sprawled over his blankets in all of his shirtless glory. Chouko eyes him suspiciously before letting out a short breath; she could see his torso rising and falling. Chouko’s defensive fist dropped to her sides, making her way toward the sleeping ninja leaning her body over him, getting a better look. She sighed softly, shaking her head, a small smile curving upon her lips, focused on his slightly parted ones. “He really is an idiot…”
Her eyes slipped from his lips and traveled down his neck toward his bare chest, watching his muscles tense as he took in breaths, casually eyeing that gorgeous trail of hair that would start from his naval and disappearing beneath the elasticity of his pants. Chouko found her hand lifting slightly, pausing as it hovered over Jenko’s abdominals, slowly inching closer and slower before suddenly, Jenko’s hand lifted quickly, grabbing Chouko’s curious wrist tightly, which startled the kunoichi greatly. Before she had time to react, she heard a deep chuckle rumble from the chest she had been admiring, her gaze sliding upward catching a glimpse of Jenko’s smirking, pierced lips, his deep blue eyes now focused on hers. Chouko’s felt her lips tremble for a moment, still trying to overcome the initial shock, before snatching her wrist away from the sand-nin, feeling her cheeks beginning to burn.
“Dude, what the hell!” She exclaimed, placing her hands on her hips as she watched Jenko sit up, running a hand through his hair as he let out a soft yawn. “You could have given me a heart attack, you idiot!”
“Sorry, babe,” He grinned non-apologetically , resting his weight on his elbows, swiftly taking in Chouko’s disgruntled form from top to bottom, shamelessly. “Didn’t mean to scare you like that, heh.”
He threw his head back, letting out another wave of chuckles, through Chouko off completely. Her lips formed into a thin line, eyebrows furrowing as she looked on, trying to figure out Jenko’s strange behavior. “Jenko…is, uh…is something wrong? Are you feeling alright?”
She watched as Jenko returned his attention toward her, head dangling lazily as he shot her another sly grin. “Nothin’s wrong, man. I’m just fuckin’ excited to see you, girl.” His gaze on her seemed to linger a little too long, and the Akimichi took note of how cloudy his eyes had looked.
Unconvinced, Chouko raised an eyebrow. Something was definitely up with him. She squint her eyes, now centering her chakra so she could peer into Jenko’s systems, her bright blues widening from what she was seeing. Jenko’s chakra was overflowing in masses, traveling rapidly to each point, which was very, very un-normal for a ninja, period.
“Jenko, don’t bullshit. You’re chakra levels are fucked, what is going on?”
“Ugh, always snooping on my chakra levels,” He grumbled, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, forcing himself to stand on his feet, only stumbling slightly. He fumbled past Chouko toward his dresser, purposely knocking a few items over, as if he were searching for something. “Fuck, where’d I put that shit…”
“Put what?” Chouko folded her arms over her chest, inspecting Jenko’s clumsy movements as he continued his search before grunting, reaching behind him, pulling a small, plastic box from the back pocket of his pants. He then turned to her, holding out the hand with the box nodding toward her.
“Want some?” He asked, voice nonchalant. “It’ll make you feel gooooooood..”
“It’ll make me—what?” Chouko gave the sand-nin a bewildered look, her thoughts suddenly adding up. She shook her head furiously. “Jenko, are you fucking high right now?!” She exploded, hands find their way to her forehead, her mind racing. “You’ve got to be kidding me! Jenko, how stupid are you?”
“Calm down, geez!” Jenko rolled his eyes as Chouko was freaking out, walking toward her, reaching out to grab her shoulder. “Chouko, you need to calm your tits. I’m not even that high—“
“Are you insane?” She pulled away from his grip, her eyes boring hard into his. “What the hell are you even on right now?”
“Triple X,” He answered simply, waving the miniature plastic box in the kunoichi’s face, the numerous pills shaking violently. “You should try it, Cho; it’s one hell of a drug.”
“T-Triple X?” Chouko questioned, trying to recollect where she had heard that from. Triple X…Triple X… She then slammed her fist into her hand, connecting the dots. “You mean the amphetamine that’s used as a type of anesthetic in hospitals? How’d you get your hands on that, it’s off limits to anyone who isn’t a doctor!”
“Jesus Christ, Chouko, calm down!” Jenko then removed a pill from the box, popping the tiny white tablet into his mouth. “Doesn’t matter how I got the stuff, and I know you aren’t dumb enough to snitch…” Chouko felt his demeanor change as his shoulders slouched, his arms reaching toward his, grabbing her hands in his, pulling her toward him. “So why don’t you just enjoy it with me? Or at least try it, babe. I promise, nothin’ bad’s gonna happen, I’ll make sure of it.”
“Oh, no,no,no!” Chouko refused, forcing down the urge to blush hotly as she felt him grab her hands, cradling them in his, his languid smile wanting to melt her in her place. “I won’t let you ‘seduce’ me into taking that stuff, no way. Do you know what that shit does to you Jenko—“
Chouko was quickly hushed by Jenko’s lips crashing into hers, her shock only spurring him to kiss her deeper as her lips parted slightly, his tongue wasting no time to dart into her mouth, his thumbs gently rubbing the knuckles of her hands, trying to coax her into submission. Chouko’s tanned cheeks briefly glowed scarlet before forcing herself to pull away, swallowing hard, emitting a few coughs. As she regained her composure, she began to glare daggers at the male.
“What the hell, Jenko! You..you slipped the pill into my mouth with the kiss and forced me to swallow!”
Jenko lifted an arm, momentarily wiping the corner of his mouth, un-phased. “Hey, I didn’t make you swallow anything.” He flashed her a devious smile. “Guess the curiousness got the better of you, Chouko.”
Chouko opened her mouth to retaliate, but her face only twisted into a pout. He knew her all too well.
~ ~ ~
“HaahAAHAha, oh my god, don’t tickle me like that—hOOohaHAaHa—th-that’s not fair, J-JenKO!”
“Well you shouldn’t have been splashing me! I gave you a chance to stop, and now you’re suffering the consequences!”
Chouko laughed wildly as the sand nin ran his fingers up and down her bare sides, the water only acting as an aid for Jenko as Chouko twisted and turned violently, small, warm waves splashing back and forth, only further soaking the ninja. Neither could remember how they go to this point—being completely naked in the backyard hotspring, laughing uncontrollably, probably waking up several sleeping villagers, but both of them could care less. Jenko could vaguely remember that he knew that Chouko’s body would immediately take to the drug, working in his favor. He only had to wait a good thirty minutes before Chouko’s mind was high in the clouds, uttering incoherent sentences, only to laugh them off as her own little jokes. She would tell him stories that didn’t make sense, or sometimes, she would just giggle without stopping. He would laugh too, but only because seeing Chouko so fucked up was incredibly entertaining!
An hour in, Chouko was completely out of it, and if Jenko was to be honest with himself, so was he. They had spent a majority of their time wrapped in each other’s arms, whispering nonsense to one another, Chouko emitting soft giggles every so often. It was then when Jenko had decided that he absolutely adored Chouko’s laughter, and did everything in his power to make her continue doing it. Sometimes the two would even exchange small kisses, but they only lasted for a millisecond—Chouko couldn’t keep her focus for very long. Somehow in the mix of their quiet conversations, Chouko voiced that she was cold, and that she wanted to go somewhere warm. Jenko said something along the lines of “my arms or my pants” but Chouko overpowered his suggestion with a new one: She wanted to get in the hotspring. Jenko thought about this. He hadn’t used it in a while, and hell, what could possibly go wrong?
The two managed to stumble out of Jenko’s room, down the stairs, and out the back, Chouko giggling all the while. Someone had wondered what to do about they not having any real bathing suits, but Jenko found that Chouko had been one step ahead of him in that department—when he had turned to look at her, she had already started to remove her clothes, and fast. Jenko had to blink a few times, making sure what he was seeing was real. He watched as each article of clothing left her body; her crop top was the first to go, followed by her olive green shirt before being topped by her cream colored strapless bra, her breasts now free from their prison, and Jenko could swear that they were begging for his touch. Her shorts where then the next to go, and it took no time for her to shimmy out of her panties. Soon, her nude figure was facing toward him, the moon reflecting off of each her curves, her finger coaxing him to follow her lead. “Are you coming, or not?”
Yes, Jenko definitely liked this side of Chouko. It was fun and unexpected, and he was craving to know what she going to do next.

If there was one thing Chouko Akimchi could not stand, it was being stood up. She could understand maybe it happening once. Twice, possibly. Three times, was really pushing it. But whenever it came to Jenko, he would push her as far as she could go.
“How could you!” She screamed as she threw a miscellaneous sandal at the sand nin, her face flushed with rage. Jenko dodged swiftly, trying to call her to her senses, but to say Chouko was at her wits end was like saying the ocean was damp. Usually her fits of rage were waved off, Jenko knew she possessed quite a temper when provoked, but this time, he knew Chouko had a solid reason to be angry with him. It was his first night back in Suna after a long month long mission, and during his time away, he had been conversing with Chouko on how to celebrate how long they had been seeing each other, and decided to have a special dinner as soon as he returned. Unfortunately, he had been extremely fatigued after his return and ended up forgetting their plans after deciding to take a nap. He woke up to a hoard of woman who had also been waiting for his return, and, enjoying the attention, all thoughts of Chouko had disappeared momentarily before the Akimichi showed up to his door, appearing as she was looking for blood.
After trying to explain to her what had happened, Chouko’s level of anger only escalated, and she began to throw punches, aiming to hurt him. And it only pissed her off more with how easily he could avoid her attacks, as well as he easily avoided the answers to her questions.
“Jenko, you idiot!” Chouko fumed, shoving the sand jonin in question out of her way as she continued to approach him aggressively, fists clenched tight. “How could you forget our dinner plans?! We had been planning this for a fucking month because you were so goddamn busy with your missions and whatever, and all of a sudden you become too invested in another chick only to forget that, gee I dunno, you already had someone waiting for you!”
Jenko held his hands up in front of him, trying to block her shoves until his back was well into the wall of his room, trying to calm Chouko down. “Chouko, c’mon, it was an accident. I said I was sorry Iike, a million times! I know I forgot, I was being stupid, okay? I didn’t mean to miss dinner with you, I really didn’t. I fell asleep and I lost track of time. If you would just give me a chance, I’ll make it up to you. I’ll do anything you want—“
“No, no you can’t!” Chouko was in his face now, her blue eyes emitting the sharpest of glares. “You do this every single fucking time. You say that you’re sorry, and that you didn’t mean it, and that you’ll make it up to me, only to pull this shit again! I’ve given you enough chances. How in the hell is that fair to me, Jenko?!”
Jenko bit his lip, silenced by Chouko’s accusations. She was right, it really wasn’t fair to her. He knew how much she had missed him during his time away, and he knew that she was probably really looking forward to spending time with him, given the formal wear she had decided to put on for the occasion. Jenko sighed inwardly; he had fucked her over far worse than he had ever done before—he had never seen Chouko this angry before.
“Babe, c’mon, you’re flipping out over nothing.” He tried to reason with her, regaining his aloof stature. He hoped that somehow he could get through to her—as he always did—and get her to calm down. He couldn’t say that he wasn’t used to her overreactions. Whenever they had an argument that resulted in fighting physically, he’d let her throw a few hits to let her get her anger out, and proceed to coax her into submission with his words. Though it was a hassle, it worked every time. “Have you forgotten who I am? If it really meant that much to you, and I’m sure it did, I can get us reservations for an even better restaurant, and—“
Jenko dodged another hurling punch. “Damn it, Jenko, this isn’t about better restaurants, or your stupid social status!” Chouko responded quickly, interrupting him. She knew what he was trying to do, and it only fueled Chouko’s anger. She felt extremely foolish for letting him take as much advantage of her as he already had. It was infuriating.
She stepped away from Jenko, placing her hands on her hips, her glare unwavering. “You can’t just tell me that you’re gonna make it up to me and let me down every single time, and then keep expecting me to forget and go on with my life.”
“I know, I know, and I’m sorry,” Jenko stressed, running a hand through his thick, messy hair, evading her glare. “Babe, you know I don’t do it on purpose. I know tonight was bad, but it’s not even that late. We still have time to go out. Everything’s on me.”
“Jenko, you aren’t getting the point!” Chouko was becoming more stressed out than she already had been. “Can’t you see that I don’t give two fucks if ‘everything’s on you’. I’m so sick of you doing this shit to me. I’m sick of you strutting around, fucking anything that looks your way, not caring for anyone but yourself. I’m sick of you thinking that whenever you fuck up, all you have to do is say a few words and it’ll just make me automatically forgive you.”
Chouko’s arms dropped to her side, her eyes shutting for only a moment before sighing softly, “Jenko, I’m done.”
“It’s not like that, Chouko, I swear! I know I fuck up a lot but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about---wait, what?” Jenko’s eyebrows shot up, trying to decipher what the brunette had mumbled before he began to go on a tangent. “What the fuck did you just say?”
Chouko then went uncomfortably silent, her demeanor softening immensely, now trying to avoid Jenko’s gaze all together. Jenko watched Chouko closely as she fidgeted with her hands, inhaling deeply before bringing her eyes back to his with a newfound confidence. “You heard what I said,” She started slowly, her anger returning to her as quickly as it had left. “I’m done, Jenko. Done with this—whatever this is--, done with your games, done with you.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He countered, folding his arms over his chest, trying to swallow the increasing heart rate as it pounded heavily in his chest. He didn’t want her to see that he was actually taken aback from her proclamation. “You’re ‘done’ with me? You say that every other fucking week. By this time tomorrow, everything will be back to normal.”
Jenko glanced at the fuming Akimichi, hoping to see her usual cute, angry pout along with a string of denies, but he felt his heart sink when he was met with a stone cold scowl, and another bone chilling silence.
“No, Jenko, not this time.” Chouko spat venomously, the acidity in her words burning Jenko’s ego to the core. “I’m done being your little puppy—following you around, hoping that maybe one day you’d finally take me and my feelings seriously, but you don’t. I’ve waited two long years for you to mature, for you to finally realize what you want, but surprise, surprise, you haven’t changed at all.”
“You act like missing one stupid dinner with you is like the end of the fucking world. Can’t you just listen to me?”
“I’ve done my listening. Now it’s time you listen to me.” Chouko turned around, retrieving her clutch purse from the floor before giving Jenko one last look as she headed toward the front door. “You can start by listening to me exit your room as I say this: I’m leaving you, Jenko. It’s over.”
Jenko reached out, instinctively grabbing Chouko’s forearm before she could leave. For some reason, he got an awful, awful feeling in the pit of his stomach. “Goddammit, Chouko, but what about how I feel? You can’t just walk out on me—“
“Oh, yes I can. What does it matter?” Chouko snapped, snatching her arm away from him. “You’ve already shown me that there are plenty of other girls out there that are just begging for your attention. There all more important than me, right? I mean, fuck, we aren’t even dating, so I it’s not that my feelings actually matter to you now do they? My feelings don’t matter because everything’s about you!”
“But Chouko—“
“No, Jenko. I don’t wanna hear it. Don’t touch me, don’t look at me, I never wanna see you ever again.”
Without another word, Chouko left, slamming the door behind her. Jenko hesitated for a moment, debating whether he should follow her or not. He felt his body lurch forward, wanting to run after her, but for some reason he couldn’t get his legs to move. After a few more minutes of pondering silence, Jenko slouched his shoulders, exhaling deeply, deciding it’d be better to let her go. There’s no sense in me trying to talk to her now, He thought as he threw himself face down onto his bed, letting out a frustrated groan into his pillow. I can’t get through to her when she’s pissed. I’ll try again later. She’ll probably have calmed down enough by then.
~ ~ ~
Jenko scrolled anxiously through his contact list, purposely skipping Chouko’s name as he silently debated calling her. It had been a few days since her rage fest, and he hadn’t tried to talk to her since. He figured it’d be good to have her calm down first, but by the second day of not talking to her, he figured that maybe she’d be angry with him for not trying to get in touch with her right away. Either way, I can’t win. He rolled his eyes as he pressed on Chouko’s picture, her contact now coming into view. Girls are so fucking weird.
Swallowing the rest of his fear, He pressed the call button and held the phone to his ear, not helping that he was a bit nervous for the outcome. His heart would beat faster as each ring faded in and out, and the longer it took for Chouko to answer, the more anxious he became. She’d answer, right? She wouldn’t not answer, would she? By this point, Jenko was fine with her being angry with him, as long as she would just pick up.
The phone had rang a few more times, and Jenko contemplated hanging up before he heard the a clicking noise, and then a rushed “Hello?”
“Ah, uh, Chouko?” Jenko found himself tripping over his words, almost dropping the phone. “’s that you?”
“Jenko?” the voice on the other line was higher than Chouko’s, Jenko realized, and before he heard muffled voices in the background. “It’s Shakino.”
“Shakino? What are you doing with Chouko’s phone?” Jenko asked, trying to hide his slight surprise, but figured that if Shakino had her phone, then Chouko was somewhere in the vicinity—probably making the muffled noises in the background.
“What are you doing calling her? I’m pretty sure she made it clear that she didn’t want anything to do with you anymore.”
Shit, so Chouko told Shakino what had happened. Jenko sighed. “Shakino, what are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, mister!” Shakino answered hotly. “I know what you did to Chouko the other night—standing her up like that. You knew how important that was to her, Jenko. She really missed you, y’know.”
“And I missed her too—I forgot, okay? Seriously!” Jenko couldn’t help but become annoyed. He hated it when someone knew his business. “Look, just let me talk to Chouko. I know she’s there.”
There was another wave of muffled, murmuring noises, and he strained to hear what was being said. After a few moments, Shakino returned to the phone. “She said she doesn’t want to talk to you.”
“Well why the hell not!” the sand nin exploded, gripping his phone to the point that it threatened to break. “She has no fucking reason to not talk to me!”
“Because she knows what you’re gonna say. We both do,” Shakino explained, her voice less than sympathetic. “She’s said she wanted nothing more to do with you. And as her friend, I’m not gonna make her talk to you just because you think you deserve it.”
“Look, Shakino, I get that, but Chouko’s my girl. She and you don’t have what she and I have. As much as you think you know our situation, you don’t!” Jenko snapped, the words exiting his mouth before his brain had time to process. “Just let me talk to her, she’s being ridiculous. You of all people would know she overreacts to the dumbest shit.”
“Well what you and her have right now is nothing,” Shakino retorted, her annoyance with Jenko rising. “Whether you want to accept it or not, she broke up with you, dude. You really screwed up this time. Now if you excuse us, Chouko and I have some girl time to catch up on. And we would really appreciate it if you didn’t call again.”
Before Jenko could try to defend himself the line went dead. Cursing loudly, Jenko hurled his phone across the room, not caring if the damned thing shattered to pieces or not. It didn’t matter, he only used it to communicate to Chouko whenever they were apart for long periods time, and if she wouldn’t talk to him, then there was no point in keeping it.
“Why the fuck is she doing this,” he fumed, cradling his head in his hands, thoughts racing through his mind as he tried to figure out why Chouko couldn’t have just listened to him. Even during their fights in the past, she had never refused to talk to him, not like this. “She’s too stubborn for her own good.”
Before Jenko could go deeper into his thoughts, he heard a light knock on the door. Quickly turning to the direction of the sound, he answered with “The doors open,” silently hoping that Chouko would grace him with her appearance.
But, to Jenko’s dismay, the he was graced with the sight of his sister instead. “Heyo,” she called to him, holding a basket of assorted foods in her hand, closing his door with a swing of her hips. “Dad sent me over with the usual weekly food basket, ‘cause lord knows you don’t properly take care of yourself—“ Akiko was slightly surprised when she was met with the intense glare from her brother, causing her to raise an eyebrow as she set down the basket of food before cautiously asking, “’Sup, buttercup?”
“What are you so damn happy about,” Jenko responded sullenly, almost as if he were pouting. “There’s nothing to be happy about, not today.”
“Geez, either someone didn’t put out or you’re just in another fugly mood,” Akiko joked, but when Jenko didn’t even crack a smile, Akiko immediately straightened herself. “Wow, you’re actually upset over something,” she mused, plopping down onto the floor next to him, crossing her legs. “Talk to me, bro, I’ve got some time.”
Jenko narrowed his eyes at nothing in particular, childishly folding his arms over his chest. “Chouko ‘broke up’ with me a few nights ago.”
Akiko’s eyebrows shot up, not hiding her shock. “Wait, what? I had no idea you guys were even dating—not for real, anyway.”
“Shut up, you know what I mean!” Jenko barked. “We got in a fight.”
“What else is new?”
“Fuck you, if you aren’t gonna be serious then you can get the fuck out.”
“No need to get upset, I’m just trying to lighten the mood,” Akiko mumbled as she continued to watch her older brother sulk. “Anyway, so you and Chouko got into a fight, and?”
“I kinda screwed up this time, Akiko. You know that special dinner we were supposed to have together, me and her?”
“Yeah, I know of it.” Akiko paused for a moment before giving Jenko a disappointed look. “Oh, my God. Jenko, please tell me you didn’t miss it. She had been talking about that dinner for like, ever. It was really important to her. Like, really important to her.”
When Jenko didn’t respond, Akiko threw her head back, emitting an exasperated sigh. “Damn it, Jenko, you did miss it! No wonder you got into a fucking fight, you deserved it this time!”
“I didn’t miss it on purpose!” Jenko said in defense. “I took a nap after I got home from that stupid mission. And, well—things only escalated from there. There were all these chicks pounding at my door, and I just lost track of time. Before I knew it, Chouko was right in front of me and…” He trailed, the memory stabbing at him. Akiko only rolled her eyes.
“That is probably the worse excuse I’ve ever heard you say.” She deadpanned, shaking her head. “Chouko has every right to be mad. That was some pretty low shit you pulled, Jenko. And that’s just me being nice.”
“Well after we fought, she…she said she was done with me,” Jenko explained, his voice softening immensely. “She said she didn’t want to see me again.”
Feeling Jenko’s demeanor change, Akiko tried to soften the blow. “She probably only said it because she was pissed, Jenko. Pissed off girls say crazy things. You should know, you were living with one for the past eighteen years.”
“No, no, I felt…off when she said it,” Jenko was now staring hard at the floor. “Like, something was different. I can’t help but feel weird about it. Like today, I called her, but Shakino picked up, and she gave me this bullshit as to why Chouko’s didn’t wanna talk to me. Like, she couldn’t believe I had the nerve to think I’d be forgiven, at least so easily. Usually I’m not very concerned when it comes to Chouko and making threats, but after hearing that she’s refusing to talk to me, I just….I felt like this time, I shouldn’t be so lax with her about it.” Jenko then brought his gaze back to his sisters attention. “I was thinking to go to her place and see her—Chouko, I mean. I’m sure if we talk face to face, I can set things straight and things will be just as they were before I left.”
Well you shouldn’t be lax with her at all, Akiko wanted to say, but she held her tongue. She didn’t want to provoke her brother any further. Knowing that he cared deeply for the Akimichi, as well as she hated seeing Jenko in a funky mood, Akiko sighed softly as she ran a few fingers through her princess-like hair. “Okay, look, before you decide to do anything weird, I’m going over to Chouko’s tonight for a sleepover…” It took almost all of Akiko’s willpower to not groan aloud as she noticed Jenko’s ears perk up. “If you….If you want, I could ask her about what happened and maybe, maybe, put in some good word for you.” She gave her brother a sympathetic look. “I’m sure she only said those things ‘cause she was –rightfully—pissed. If it’s been a couple of days, I’m sure she’s softened up by now. And if not, she’ll soften up later tonight. But you can’t keep doing this, Jenko. You can’t keep hurting her feelings and expecting me to bail you out just because she and I are best friends and I’m your flesh and blood. One day, Chouko will get sick of this and she just might…” Akiko hushed herself before she said something that she was going to regret later.
Jenko’s mood had picked up as Akiko spoke, hope washing over him. If anyone could break through to Chouko, it was his sister. The faster Akiko could help fix the situation the faster he would have Chouko under his arm again. “Akiko, have I told you that you’re the best little sister in Suna?”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t thank me yet,” Akiko groaned, rolling her eyes, punching Jenko’s shoulder before forcing her body to stand up, bending backward to stretch out her back. “Chouko’s super tough stuff, it might take some time for me to get through to her, so no promises.” Akiko glanced at the overhanging clock, whistling as she realized how long she had been with Jenko. “Speaking of which, I’ve gotta get going. It’s the first Wednesday of the month, and that means my favorite supermarket is having a sale.”
~ ~ ~
“Okay, so I heard that Enna was totally trying to make the moves on you, Akiko.”
“What, seriously? No way! Enna’s not like that!”
“Oh really? I doubt it. He totally wants to ask you out! You should ask him out before he does, how cute would that be?”
“C-Chouko! I can’t just ask him out, he’s…I never even said I liked him.”
“You didn’t have to, it’s so obvious.”
“Chooooooukooooo!”
Akiko whined, hurling a plush red pillow at the Akimichi, causing the brunette to fall backwards as she giggled uncontrollably, which only caused Akiko to pout even more. “Whatever!”
After trying to compose herself, Chouko sat up, setting the pillow next to her as she leaned forward, watching the shorter kunoichi gracefully paint her toenails, continuing to pout at the floor beneath her. Chouko smiled down at her, propping her elbows on her knees. It was late into the night, and Akiko and Chouko had been doing what any other pair of girls would do at a sleepover—they talked about life, watched a few movies, Chouko made them a fantastic dinner, and now they were casually snacking and relaxing, there conversations jumping from different topics faster than they could speak. They had been giggling nonstop throughout the night, so much to the point Chouko said the corners of her mouth were sore. Not that she really minded, Chouko was desperate to be happy and stay happy. “Painting your piggies, I see. You only do that when you’re trying to impress someone!”
“I said shut up!” Akiko hissed, trying to not lose focus as she tried to paint her littlest toe, but her smile slowly formed into a frown as the thought of Jenko entered and exited her mind. She had tried to talk to Chouko about it for most of the night, but she couldn’t figure out a way to bring into a conversation. And Chouko looked like she was having so much fun…It almost pained Akiko to have to possibly ruin all the fun they were having, all for the sake of her idiot brother.
She heaved a heavy sigh before forcing out, “Speaking of boys…I…I heard you and Jenko had a little…altercation, the other day.”
When Chouko went silent Akiko held her breath. She was expecting this, but that didn’t make her feel any less guilty. After a few moments, she heard Chouko inhale deeply, giving Akiko a bit of relief.
“Jenko and I aren’t together anymore. It doesn’t matter.”
“Whoa, whoa, what? What happened?” Akiko asked, trying to seem surprised about the information she was already vaguely aware of. Chouko groaned in response.
“What do you mean what happened? Tch. We were never together. We were only seeing each other, as gross as that sounds.”
“Well, duh. But I mean…like…are you completely done with him?” the sand kunoichi pressed, trying to get the vital information, not wanting Chouko to shut down so quickly.
“I’m so completely done.” Chouko answered, shifting her position on from cross-legged to on her stomach, her arms dangling lazily over the edge the bed, gentle brushing against Akiko’s reddened knees. “He doesn’t take me seriously, Akiko. He thinks he can do whatever he wants. He stood me up that night, Akiko. Not that it really comes off as a surprise, I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up so high.”
Akiko rolled her eyes, knowing all too well of her brothers’ antics. “He’s an ass, I know. But…” She gave Chouko a sympathetic look. “He really cares about you, y’know.”
“Well if he fucking cared he wouldn’t keep doing this shit.” The hurt in her voice was painfully clear. It made Akiko wince.
“Cho…” She whispered, rubbing her arm as she tried to find something positive to add about Jenko, to get Chouko to possibly give the boy a little bit of sympathy. “He’s…just scared.”
“Well he sure ain’t afraid to screw anything that breathes.” Ouch, the second blow. Jenko definitely was losing this fight, and fast.
“I know, I know. But he’s a guy, what do you expect?” Akiko said, trying her best to reason with the stubborn kunoichi. “Look, I’m not saying it’s right but…he’s just afraid of heart break.”
“Well what about me?” Chouko snapped, anger now filling her veins, her fists clenching. Her bright blue eyes twinkled, and Akiko detected a sign of quickly forming tears. “He knows I suffer from horrible anxiety, especially when he’s gone. But does that stop him? No; because he’s too good to stick to one girl. Whatever, it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m done. “
Akiko furrowed her eyebrows toward her best friend, not liking to see her so upset. “Chouko,” Her voice was soft, almost gentle. “ Y’know I didn’t mean that…”
“Fuck it.” Chouko was bitter, and had no problem in hiding it. She pushed herself over a little more, reaching underneath her bed, only to pull out a six pack, wasting no time in setting herself on her knees and opening a can, downing the continents in record time. She used the back of her hand to wipe her lips, wincing slightly as the beverage left a burning after taste. “Well, at least, I have a date tomorrow night,” Chouko found herself saying. “I think I forgot to mention that.”
I want to forget Jenko as soon as possible.
Akiko gave Chouko an eyebrow raise, slightly surprised with how fast Chouko was moving. “What? With who?”
“Eh,” Chouko gave the sand kunoichi a half shrug. “Some ninja named Ryusuke Minami. I barely know the guy. I met him today while I was out with Shakino earlier.”
“He sounds like a douchebag,” Akiko grimaced as she reached for her own can of beer. “I dunno how this is gonna go down.”
“I guess he kind of was, but I’m sure he isn’t too bad. He had nice hair,” A forced giggled escaped her lips. “I’m a sucker, I really am. I just want to forget about Jenko—I want to forget about everything. Maybe a new boy would be good for me. I have to fill In the void somehow.” The Akimichi sighed longingly, twiddling her fingers in her lap. “It’s like, I know that no matter what I try to do, I’ll still always love Jenko. It just makes it harder to forget about him.”
“Have you tried talking to him?”
Chouko scoffed. “There’s no talking to that man.”
“I could try and talk to him for you.”
“I wouldn’t waste your breath.”
Akiko frowned, tossing her head back, letting her hair cascade behind her. She didn’t have the heart to press her on anymore. “Chouko,” she groaned. “you’re being a grump and it’s killing my buzz.”
“Well then hand me another beer,” Chouko grinned mischievously. “I’m sure I’ll loosen up in time.”
“I’d rather not, you’re not in such a good state of mind.”
“Tch. When was I ever?”
“I mean, a better one then wanting to get shit faced because you’re sad.”
“I’m not sad. I’m happy. So fucking happy that I wanna celebrate.”
“Chouko…”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“How can I not worry about you?”
“Because you’re my friend.”
“That’s why I worry.”
“Seriously, Akiko,” Chouko then waved her friend off, reaching for another can, proceeding to down it just as fast as she did the first one. “I’ll be fine.”
Akiko watched sadly, her fingers circling around the top of her can, playing with the handle as she contemplated opening her drink. She was sure Chouko would drink enough for the both of them.
This doesn’t feel fine.
~ ~ ~
“Well, what did she say?”
“Are you sure you really want to know? She said a lot of things tonight, Jenko,” Akiko whispered into her phone as she glanced behind her, her eyes falling on Chouko’s still form. The Akimichi had drank herself into oblivion, and now was quietly passed out on her bed, her breathing, steady. Chouko never really good hold her alcohol very well. Akiko took that opportunity to call Jenko to tell him of his current situation with the drunken girl.
“Of course I wanna know,” Jenko was becoming quite impatient. He had been waiting all day for Akiko to get in touch with him, and he didn’t want her to hold out on him now. “Tell me everything she said. Everything.”
Akiko sighed inwardly, using a hand to scratch at the back of her neck. “Well, okay, here it goes: she basically thinks you’re an asshole who thinks of nothing but himself and takes advantage of her kindness. Well, she may or may not have said that last bit.” Akiko didn’t wait for Jenko’s response as she continued, “She’s really pissed at you, Jenko. I’ve never seen her so upset with you before.”
Jenko unleashed a frustrated groan, his level of stress increasing. “What the hell? You said she’d soften up!”
“Don’t blame this on me, I did my part in trying to help you. This isn’t even my fucking problem!” Akiko hissed angrily, wishing she was close enough to her brother to give him a good whack. “I don’t blame her, what you did was pretty bad. She isn’t entitled to forgive you this quickly, if she decides to at all.”
“Don’t say that,” Jenko cut in, trying his hardest to suppress his rising anger. “Don’t fucking say that, Akiko. It stresses me out.”
Akiko glanced at her phone, scowling at it. Jenko sure is acting weird…she thought, not appreciating his behavior, but for now, she decided to brush it off.
“Well, did she say anything else?”
“Hmmm…Oh, she’s going on a date tomorrow night,” Akiko responded thoughtfully. “With some guy named Ryusuke Minami. Apparently he’s an asshole. I wonder where she finds her taste in men—“
“Akiko, I really don’t have time for your sass, alright?” Jenko shook his head as he tried to piece together the new information. “Wait, she’s got a date? Already? She’s really trying to piss me off…”
“Jenko, not everything she does revolves around you. Besides, you think she’d really go out of her way to make you jealous when all she wants to do is forget about you?”
All she wants to do is f o r g e t about y o u. . .
“You’re wrong,” Jenko retorted, his voice rising. “You’re wrong. Everything Chouko does always involves me!” After realizing what had just flown from his mouth, Jenko sighed heavily, rubbing his eyes. “Do you…do you know where they’re going, exactly?”
“I think they’re gonna try that new Barbeque place they built up the street, she told me something about her dad…” Akiko blinked before side-eying the phone. “No, no, no no no no, no. Jenko, you better not be planning what I think you are. You better not go anywhere near her. If I find that you came to Konoha to third wheel her date, I’ll kick your ass. Chouko will never forgive you if you tried to pull something like that!”
“I’m not planning anything,” Jenko responded nonchalantly, which only heightened Akiko’s worry. “Ryusuke Minami…name sounds familiar. Isn’t it that street punk who’s trying to be a musician?”
“Does it matter?”
“Yeah it matters! Chouko is into musicians. What is he, a drummer? A guitarist?—“
“Jenko, Jenko, stop acting crazy. It doesn’t matter who Ryusuke is, because you’re not going to have anything to do with him. You aren’t coming all the way to Konoha to talk to her, not tomorrow night. Any other night but tomorrow. You can’t.”
“Fine, I won’t.” Jenko responded hotly. “It’s whatever.”
“Jenko—“
The sand nin hung up before his sister could muster another sentence. The more she talked, the more angry he became. He began to pace around his apartment, his mind racing. Chouko was just trying to piss him off, wasn’t she? She knew how jealous he could become. She knew how possessive he was over her. She was just playing games with him, wasn’t she? That was the only logical explanation as to why she decided to go on this ‘date’. She wanted to get him angry, that had to be it. She loved it when he got angry with her, because he got rough with her, and if he knew anything about her, it was how she liked to fuck.
That’s gotta be it, Jenko began to pace faster as he tried to talk himself into believing this self-told lie. Chouko couldn’t give two shits about some dude named Ryusuke. Sounds like a bitch name to me.
Thoughts of Chouko and ‘Ryusuke’ began to flash through his mind. Images of Ryusuke making Chouko laugh, of him swooning her—of him being a gentleman for her and walking her home, and her accepting his kindness and ending the date with a kiss…only for that kiss to go elsewhere and before she could even think she’d be underneath that bastard. Jenko would know, he’s pulled that shit many, many times before.
Jenko flexed his fingers as the curled and re-curled into tight fists. This is some bullshit. Chouko wouldn’t be acting like this if I hadn’t of…no, no. She’s just overreacting. Suddenly, Jenko halted, slamming a fist in his hand as he came to a conclusion.
“I’ll just…casually run into her!” He was speaking aloud now. “I know her little game, trying to get me jealous. I’ll just happen to be in Konoha tomorrow and I’ll just happen to see them at this restaurant…she can’t resist me if we’re face to face.”
That was when Akiko’s warnings echoed through his head.
She isn’t entitled to forgive you this quickly.
You think she’d go out of her way to make you jealous?
All she wants to do is forget about you.
She’ll never forgive you.
. . .
A cold shiver ran down the puppet masters’ spine.
“I’m just…psyching myself out,” he told himself as he sauntered into his bedroom, beginning to pull out articles of clothing, wanting to be in Konoha faster than he ever had been before. He was certain his plan was flawless, and nothing, not even himself, could stop him from getting his girl back.
~ ~ ~
It had been a couple of hours since Chouko had been on this ‘date’ this Ryusuke, and Chouko had to admit that she was feeling a bit awkward. She watched as Ryusuke droned on about his band, and about his career, and about himself, it was getting a bit boring. Even though Ryusuke didn’t seem like a bad guy, he was arrogant, and selfish, and dear god was he repetitive. Chouko swore that if she had to hear Ryusuke’s guitar dropping incident one more time she was seriously going to flip.
“So Chouko,” Chouko blinked furiously as she heard Ryusuke call for her, bringing her out of her thoughts. He gave her a sleazy smile which only made Chouko want to grimace.
“Uh, yeah?”
“I had a good time tonight, y’know.”
Chouko fought hard to not roll her eyes. Of course he had a good time, he was talking about himself the whole time.
“Yeah,” Chouko forced a giggle, brushing a few strands of hair behind her ear. “I, uh, I had a good time too, Ryusuke.
Chouko searched her mind as she tried to find something relatively good about the date so her previous statement wasn’t a complete lie. Well, for starters, the dinner was amazing—She had to admit she was quite surprised when Ryusuke went all out for dinner. He ordered many different dishes for the both to share, and for once, Chouko didn’t feel like a total pig at a dinner table. Chouko figured that Ryusuke was moderately attractive, and when he wasn’t talking about himself, or his band, or his problems, he was actually pretty funny. But, despite all of this , Chouko couldn’t help but have a twisting feeling in the pit of her stomach, and she knew it wasn’t the food she had just recently ingested—she knew deep down her heart still belonged to Jenko, but her mind was combating hardcore. Jenko hurt you for the last time, she told herself. You can’t let your feelings take over again!
She sighed inwardly; she still couldn’t help the thought of infidelity toward Jenko and Ryusuke, gave her a head ache, guilt stabbed at her even more.
How is this gonna work if I can’t get over him…
“You know, you’re really easy to talk to.” She heard Ryusuke speak again. “I love hanging out with you, Cho. I really wouldn’t mind doing this again.”
Chouko put her hand to her face and blushed for some reason. If anything, Ryusuke had a pretty sweet voice.
“Thank you.” She said weakly. She sighed, wishing that her best friend was at her side. Ryusuke gave her a head tilt, slightly confused.
“You okay…?” he asked.
“Yeah.” She managed.
Across the street, Jenko was lurking in the dark, brooding heavily on a bench as he watched Chouko and Ryusuke dine together, noticing distinctly how dark Chouko’s cheeks had become. She was blushing at something he said, and it really pissed him off. I bet he isn’t even that funny, Jenko thought bitterly, drumming his fingers against the wooden bench, clawing at it, not caring if he was getting strange looks. I bet she’s just trying to be nice.
Jenko watched the couple closely, his dark eyes hooded as he eyed sudden movement from Ryusuke, almost losing his cool when he saw the boy in question raise his hand, placing it on Chouko’s much smaller one, his thumb affectionately rubbing her knuckles, only causing Chouko to blush a little more. He was really testing his patience. And that’s when their eyes met, a red hot feeling began to rise in the young jonin’s stomach.
Ryusuke then began to lean forward—his goal was clear. Chouko’s eyes widened, very unprepared for the sudden action. Should I do it? She asked herself, as she watched Ryusuke get closer, his lips pursing slightly. Should I go ahead and do it? Maybe that’ll help me get my mind off of Jenko….
Chouko then became confident. Anything was better than thinking about…
Getting caught in the moment, the Akimichi felt herself beginning to lean forward as well. They were so close now; she could feel his warm, spicy breath dance lightly across her face. Her lips quivered, excitement racing through her; the electrifying tension and heat building pressure on the couple, causing beads of sweat to form on her forehead. Every fiber in her being screamed for her to not do it . To not kiss this boy that she barely even knew, but what else was she supposed to do? She was already half way there…She decided that she had to go ahead and finish the job and connect with the semi-gorgeous man in front of her.
Before Ryusuke could have the chance to make a move, he was jerked backwards, which startled Chouko greatly. She looked up, her pupils dilating as her eyes met the piercing gaze of Jenko’s, whose hand was gripped tight onto Ryusuke’s shoulder, the rage radiating from him was as clear as the fear stricken across her face.
“J-Jenko?!”
“Oi, Ryusuke, is it?” Jenko’s voice was dark, causing Chouko to want to get out of there, and fast. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Ryusuke was just as afraid as Chouko was. He looked up at Jenko with wide eyes, his body beginning to tremble. “J-Jenko? Of the Sand? What are you doing in Konoha?!”
Chouko suddenly swallowed her fear, recomposing herself, anger slowly seeping from her form as well. “Yeah, Jenko, what the hell are you doing in Konoha?”
“Just thought I’d come and see my girl,” Jenko smirked, eyeing Chouko, who only gave him a deeper frown. “Ryusuke, you know Chouko’s my girl, don’t you? I’m pretty sure you’re well aware of this. Right?”
Ryusuke quickly stood up, stepping away from the table where Chouko sat. “I-I was told that you guys weren’t seeing each other anymore,” He stammered, which only caused Chouko to roll her eyes, which she had been holding since Ryusuke told his band story for the third time in a row. “It’s been going around Konoha for a while and—“
“Tch, you follow rumors? How pathetic.” Jenko scoffed, and this time, Chouko shot up from her seat.
“Jenko, quit it! Ryusuke, please don’t listen to him. He’s just…He hasn’t really gotten it yet, and—“
“N-no, no, I apologize, Ms. Akimichi, I had no idea you and Jenko were—“
“But we aren’t, so—“
“And this,” Jenko squeezed Ryusuke’s shoulder harder. “Is when you disappear, before I do it for you, yeah?”
“Whatever you say, Jenko!” And with that, Ryusuke ran off, leaving Jenko and Chouko alone, which was the last thing Chouko wanted.
The two stood in silence before Jenko glanced at the brunette, giving her another smirk. “Heh. Some man he is, he almost shit his pants.”
And that was when Chouko lost it.
“Jenko you IDIOT!” She yelled, grabbing the edge of the table of throwing it, and all of the contents on top of it, over, which caused Jenko’s smirk to drop from his face. Chouko was upset, extremely upset. So upset, that she didn’t care who was watching her. She groaned in frustration, as she turned in the opposite direction, storming off in a fit, cursing loudly.
Shocked from the outburst, Jenko watched as Chouko stomped off, unsure if he was seeing what he thought he was seeing. “W-wait, Chouko, c’mon, Come back!” He called as he walked after her, his pace increasing whenever hers did. He continued to call after her as he followed her though Konoha, keeping up with her sudden sharp turns in order to get away from him, until they were cutting through a desolate park, they’re figures illuminated from the streetlights. “Chouko, come on, you’re being ridiculous! Slow down so I can talk to you!”
“NO!” Chouko then suddenly stopped, turning toward Jenko, her eyes glaring daggers. “No, Jenko, I’m so done with you trying to talk to me. I’m done with you trying to play good cop and bad cop with me. I fucking told you I wanted nothing to do with you—I’m not your precious little trophy bitch!“
“Chouko—“ Jenko reached to grab Chouko’s hand but she was too quick. Instead, she used her other hand, hitting him directly in the chest, causing him to stumble back slightly. Awful memories of the previous fight ran through his mind as she continued to punch him. “Chouko, I know you aren’t a trophy bitch. You’re a woman. My woman. This wouldn’t be an issue if these douchebags you keep picking out would get It through their puny little brains.—Hey, will you just listen to me?!”
“No, Jenko. You listen to me---How could you even—how could you do that to me!” Chouko ceased her punching, her blue eyes now glistening as warm, salty tears threatened to spill. “How could you embarrass me like that?! You had no right to scare Ryusuke like that. You had no right to ruin my night with him! We aren’t together, Jenko. Not anymore!”
“Are you being serious right now, Chouko?” Jenko exclaimed, defensive. “We had one little fight and you’re treating it like a war. What the hell are you even doing, going out with guys you clearly aren’t interested in—“
“GETTING OVER YOU!” Chouko’s voice hit full volume now as she continued to scream Jenko down. “I’m getting OVER you, Jenko. That’s what happens when two people break up. I didn’t decide to leave you because of just ‘one little fight’, I’m leaving you because of ALL the little fights, all having to do with you and your STUPID ego! I can’t believe I was so stupid to believe that you cared for me, YOU of all people! You say that I shouldn’t be so goddamn trusting, well MAYBE I shouldn’t have trusted you in the first fucking place!” Chouko stepped closer to him, her fury almost suffocating his presence. “I HATE YOU!”
I h a t e y o u.
“Whoa, whoa, Chouko, c’mon now,” Jenko was now beginning to panic. His heart was beating rapidly as he tried to reach for her a second time, only to have it pulled away just from his grasp once more. Her avoiding his touch was making him sweat, and he could feel his breathing increase. “Chouko, look, I’m—“
“How dare you, you fucking piece of shit,” Jenko’s heart threatened to beat out of his chest as he saw Chouko break down, the tears that were threatening to fall now dripping down her face in rapid waves like a broken faucet. He watched on as Chouko continued to sob, her body shaking heavily as she tried to calm herself down, but couldn’t. Jenko’s first instinct was to go over to the girl and cradle her in a massive hug, but when he moved closer to her, she would step a few paces back, choking out sobs that rocked Jenko to the core.
“C…Chouko—“
“Ever since you’ve came into my life, you’ve ruined it,” Chouko blurted in between her cries. “I was just like you, Jenko; I was afraid to love someone as much as I love my mom, and just being with you, I felt that I could do anything, and more. But you—you, instead of embracing it, you ran away from it. You ruined it. You’ve ruined me.” Then she looked straight into his eyes, her tears still falling but her face had hardened. “I hate you. And don’t you dare come near me, ever again.”
She left him with one final glare before turning her back toward him, disappearing in a cloud of smoke. Jenko stood still, silent; recollecting all that had happened in only a span of a few minutes. It was finally setting in.
Chouko was done with him.
Chouko hated him.
This wasn’t going to work. This wasn’t happening, not to him.
No, no, no,no.

Keep Quiet. Hold Still. Don’t move. Don’t Breathe.
His words rung loosely in and out of her mind, mouth sealed shut, taking head of his cold reminders. Not that she minded of course—she loved it when he became deliciously dominant with her. He was being so rough with her—too rough than what she was used to, but he had told her to be quiet, and she knew there was a reason, but what was it again? She knew what she was doing was way beyond inappropriate—hiding out in a forest, letting him toy with her as their friends waited patiently for their return to the training grounds, and she even thought to voice this opinion-- but just the feeling of his lips roughly sucking on her neck, the sensitive flesh reddened by how hard he was marking her, it was all she could do to…oh god he did it again. She wanted to wince, wanting to voice how much that it was hurting her, how good it felt, but she knew if she made one sound he would stop, and like hell she wanted him to stop anytime soon.
Chouko’s mouth dropped open as she Jenko’s teeth gently scrape across her skin, leaving the safety of her neck and trailing lightly to the outline of her jaw, her lips pursing, silently begging for him to kiss her, but he knew better—he wanted to see how far he could push her over the edge. Throughout this endeavor, Chouko chose to keep her eyes shut, unsure if she could keep quiet if she was forced to face him. She heard Jenko chuckle darkly as she felt his hands slip from her waist to her hips, his fingers dancing around the hem-line of her shorts, pulling at them before letting them go, letting the elasticity slap against the Akimichi’s lovehandles. She knew he was teasing her. He wanted to see how long she could last, but she wasn’t going to let him win, not this time.
Feeling Jenko’s hand slip to her backside, Chouko felt her body respond immediately, stiffening, thinking that he was about to remove her shorts. She heard the sand-nin laugh again before feeling his fingers finding their way into her kunai pouch, pulling something out In the process. What is he doing? Why did he stop? Chouko was becoming extremely impatient, but dared not speak, only fearing the worst.
“Don’t move. Don’t open your eyes. Don’t make a sound.”
Chouko did as she was told, unsure of what to expect. She felt the cold metal briefly brush against her cheek and down her neck, her body solidifying from the touch. Chouko could feel a squeal rising in her throat, which only came out as a soft whimper. Jenko sensed the sudden nervousness, and to reassure her, he gently ran his thumb over her lips, shushing her.
“I won’t hurt you,” he told her lovingly. “You just have to trust me.”
And trust him she did. She gulped the rising urge to tell him she had had enough, nodding her head. She felt the sharp metal press against her cheek once again, but she felt him adding pressure. She wanted to gasp as her cheek began to sting, sending a wave of pain through her body as the blade began to break skin, feeling warm liquid making its way down her cheek, her heartbeat increasing, causing her to breathe somewhat loudly.
She was deeply confused as to why he was hurting her like this, but what was even more astounding was that as soon as he had scarred her flesh, he was quick to move in, his tongue gliding over the wound hungrily, borderline predatory. He was tasting her—it was her own blood. It was gross, it was wrong, but it was also…strangely erotic, and her heart rate only accelerated to that fact; turning her on more than she wanted to admit.
She cringed slightly as she felt a few quick slices at her shoulder, his tongue just as eager to lap at them than her cheek, causing Chouko’s thighs to press together violently. She was so incredibly wet and they had hardly done any foreplay. She wanted him to fuck her, right then, right now. But she couldn’t make a sound.
As Jenko suddenly pulled away, Chouko could feel her anticipation rising—maybe he had read her mind, that she wanted his thick, curved cock inside of her, pounding her like the inner nympho she harbored deep within her, but to her displeasure she felt him move below her, hands tight on her waist as if his life depended on it.
His fingers looped through the belt openings of her shorts, forcing them from her hips to the ground. Chouko shifted anxiously, now aware that her bright pink panties were on open display. After that, she felt no movement. Curiosity getting the better of her, Chouko tilted her neck, her eyelids fluttering open to see what was going on, only to have Jenko’s darker blues staring up right into hers, an evil smirk plastered on his face. Chouko immediately broke eye contact, embarrassed, earning a deep laugh from the sand-jonin, who lifted a hand, only to use a finger to press against her moist, clothed folds, Chouko violently biting at her lower lip in order to keep herself silent.
She heard the kunai being picked up again—what was he planning to do now? As quickly as she had the thought, she heard the faint ripping sound before she felt her panties also fall away from her body, now all natural for Jenko’s eyes only. Chouko was struggling desperately to not give him orders. She was overwhelmed with heat, and want, and need, she wasn’t sure if she was completely sane or not. No, she was sure—because Jenko had suddenly moved in between her legs, Chouko moving her arms as she moved to grip the bark of the tree behind her, the unfamiliar feeling of his tongue down there. Somewhere she only dreamt about—and he was doing it. She heard him release a thick, heated groan from his throat as he buried his face harder against her lower regions, forcing his tongue deeper within her, as far as he could reach, swirling around mercilessly, the groans only serving as a vibrating aid against her nether lips. Chouko let a moan slip—she just couldn’t help it. It felt too good. And the feeling of knowing that they could possibly be caught, it was just too thrilling to bear.
His fingers squeezed against her thighs, warning her—Keep quiet.Hold Still. Don’t move. Don’t breathe. But it was suddenly becoming incredibly difficult to not succumb to her deepest, darkest, inner pleasure, her pride still not wanting Jenko to win. If he keeps moving his tongue like that I won’t be able to last much longer…
Jenko had come to a sudden stop, and Chouko had well over bitten her lip. He slapped the side of her thigh to get her attention, hoping maybe she’d finally break, but Chouko managed to hold herself together. The sand-nin moved away from her delicate area, and her anxiety began to rise she felt Jenko begin to move again, his hands sliding up her thighs, to her hips, to her waist, until he was now towering over her once again.
He licks his lips lewdly, leaning down to her, his eyes never breaking contact with hers as his face became closer to hers, their lips threatening to touch, but Jenko only smiled. Chouko pouted, tilting her neck forward, wanting to kiss his lips badly, but he would move away, each time she tried. Jenko was enjoying himself to her expense, and though he wanted to ravenously kiss her bruised, split lips (she had really bit into them) the tantalizing glisten of her blood drawing him in, and would force himself back; waiting made the game more fun.
Still keeping the intense eye contact, Jenko moved his hands to his own hips, playing with his pants, working them down enough so his erection sprang to life, slapping heavily against his abs as it pulsed to be within the warm walls of the Akimichi, who he knew was yearning for the same. Chouko could feel her eyes begin to slip—she wanted to see that monster that usually swung freely in the depths of his pants, but Jenko stopped her before she could. “I want you to look at me,” He told her, eyes glazed over, breathless. “while I fuck you.”
Jenko leaned into her, Chouko swallowing air helplessly as she felt his firm cock against the softness of her vulva, his hips grinding against hers, but he wasn’t in her, not yet, and that annoyed Chouko very, very much. Jenko stared hard as he saw the annoyance flicker in the Akimichi’s eyes, her eagerness to be filled, her squirming only causing him to get harder. And she was quickly losing focus. Jenko raised a hand, grabbing Chouko’s chin roughly, forcing her to look at him now, his other hand working to lift her thigh up, which, by instinct wrapped around his waist. Chouko wanted to struggle, she wanted to fight him—she wanted to tell him to hurry, that she needed him, but she couldn’t.
The sand nin’s body bent inwardly, and he grinned at her smugly before thrusting forward, wasting no time to be within her, knowing he had just about pushed her to her limit. Chouko’s eyes widened, feeling a moan well deep within her, his eye contact intense, watching her every response, but somehow, she remained quiet. Even when Jenko continued to thrust against his, walls tightening and releasing his shaft as he fucked her, and oh god he fucked her so good!
His nails dug into her sides as he quickened her pace, her back scraping against the tree, the pain only adding to the immense pleasure that coursed through her body, , and the friction of his clothes on her skin was incredibly delicious, and she fucking loved it, and he still wouldn’t let her say one word, that bastard.
As she struggled to hold on to her last thread of sanity, they were moving in unison now, finally. Jenko was moving fast, harder—. It was too hot, now, and she was panting harder, throat dry as air entered and exited passed her lips. Chouko knew she was going to have torn clothes and a bruised lower back when he was done with her, but that was okay. She lived for the thrill, the pain exciting her, the thought of him fucking her so hard there was a possibility he would hurt her, it was very, very real to her, and goddamn, it felt so good.
Chouko tilted her head back, letting Jenko attack her neck one more, his teeth biting into her mercilessly, and she secretly hoped that he drew more blood as he came to full speed, grunting against her bruised flesh, Chouko’s back arching violently—oh god, she’s there. Her body temperature increased rapidly as she began to spill over the edge, the white hot feeling pooling into her stomach as she felt him hit that spot; Chouko sucked her teeth, her panting jagged as she reached her peak, Jenko thrusting crudely into as he followed quickly after her, grunting harshly from such force. The thrusting then slows to a stop, the two trying to catch their breaths, coming down from their high.
Chouko’s arms fell limp to her sides as Jenko held her in his grip, keeping her in place. It was over. It was over. It was over, and yet, Jenko was still deeply inside of her. She felt the warmness of his breath against the nape of her neck, before slowly bringing his head up, regaining eye contact with her once more. He smiled warmly to her as he tilted toward her, pressing his lips against hers at last, the first time he allowed her to that time. Maybe Jenko felt bad for teasing her to such degree. Maybe not. Chouko may never know.
Her arms rose slowly, placing themselves around the sand-nin’s neck, deepening the kiss, realizing how much she had longed for it.
She wondered if his mouth would always taste of her.
Only In Her Dreams

Jenko couldn’t sleep.
He wasn’t sure if the situation was unfair, or a blessing all the same. He stared into the ceiling of the tent, his fingers drumming against his bare stomach, trying to distract himself. He couldn’t help it though; he just had to sneak a peek at the scantily clad Chouko that was sleeping soundly next to him, her breathing deep, almost rhythmic. He side-eyed her for a moment, watching her form rise and fall as she inhaled and exhaled, the blanket only covering parts of her body; and what wasn’t covered in the blanket was covered in a thin black tank top and a matching pair of shorts, and somehow, it only made her more enticing to him. He felt the snake that was kept deep within his pants twitch slightly, his eyes still roaming her still figure, the memories of how they had got to this point replaying in his mind.
“Ugh, Jenko, can we take a break now? We’ve been walking for ages.” Chouko whined as she trailed behind the sand nin, who only continued to walk ahead.
“If we stop now, we won’t make it back to Konoha in time,” He droned, rolling his eyes. “Since, you know, you can’t stand being around me any longer, might as well get you back as soon as possible.”
Jenko and Chouko were sent out on another mission (much to Chouko’s displeasure) and the entire time, each event had gone wrong. It started with Jenko losing Chouko’s luggage, which lead to Chouko accidently soaking their travel money when she stumbled into a puddle that was abnormally deep, and things only went downhill from there, which only fueled Chouko’s argument—that she and Jenko were not compatible. They were spotted as soon as they arrived, ambushed, and it just seemed that their plans were failing, every single time. Fortunately, the two were able to overcome these issues, and defeated their target enemy, with the cost of getting on each other’s nerves to the very end.
Chouko grimaced at his back, heaving the heavy backpack high on her back as they continued on. “Yeah, well, even if that’s true, it’s starting to get dark, and we’re still ways from the village. And I think we’re deep enough into the forest that we can stop and set up camp for the night.”
“I don’t know how we can set up camp when we only have one sleeping bag, remember?” Jenko mumbled, shoving his hands deep into his pockets. Chouko twitched at the memory of how they had lost the second sleeping bag, but the outcome of it was that Jenko had to sleep outside of the tent.
“C’mon, Jenko. Please, can we just set up camp for the night? I’m begging you.” Chouko pleaded, clasping her hands together to add to her begging. Her legs were sore from the intense hike, and they had been traveling for more than half of the day, with barely any stops. She knew they’re constant arguing had pissed Jenko off to a point, but she kept her guilt at bay when she reminded herself that Jenko did his share of pissing off, too. “I feel like my legs are going to collapse underneath me.”
Jenko halted unexpectedly, causing Chouko to bump into him from behind. Chouko groaned as she stepped back, rubbing her nose, from where she ran to him. “What the heck, man…”
“Fine, fine, we’ll stop here,” Jenko replied, turning to face Chouko, both staring hard at each other.
“Don’t try anything weird,” She warned him, dropping her backpack to the ground. Jenko rolled his eyes. “If you set up camp, I’ll get dinner started, okay?”
The sand-nin smirked at the memory. At that time, they were too pissed at each to even hold a decent conversation, but somehow, he got her to soften up during their make-shift meal—softened her up enough to let her allow him to share the tent with her, despite the fact they only had one sleeping bag. It was big enough for the two to sleep on, but he let her have the blanket as a thank you. A lot of good that did, Jenko thought, eyes drifting to the carelessly strewn piece of cloth that was probably anywhere but on Chouko’s body. She’s not even using the damn thing…
The Akimichi’s body then suddenly stirred, causing Jenko’s eyes to focus back on the ceiling, his heart beginning to race. He wasn’t sure what was happening to him. It wasn’t like he had never been this close to Chouko. It wasn’t like he had never seen her in such clothing, or that he had never slept next to the girl. Jenko shifted uncomfortably in his place. He was feeling incredibly frisky, and it physically hurt him that he could nothing about it.
Chouko was beginning to move again, her leg lightly brushing against his, the brief contact causing his skin to warm. He cursed himself. I knew I should have had a good fuck before this fucking mission.
Meanwhile, Chouko was stuck in between sleep and real life. She could feel herself submerged in the REM stage, yet, her mind wouldn’t let her dream, only thoughts clouded her mind, and it annoyed her. Not because it wasn’t letting her indulge in her sweet dreams, but because all of her thoughts were revolving around Jenko. She was fully aware—unfortunately—that he was sleeping right next to her, which was also a contributing factor to why she wasn’t deep into her sleep yet. He had talked her into sharing the tent and before she knew it, they were mashed against each other, awkwardly.
Her subconscious wondered if he was asleep yet.
Chouko felt her body shift, now positioning herself on her back, her mind filling with more and more thoughts of the sand-nin. She was trying to suppress these thoughts, but every time she thought they would go away, another image of him would pop up, sometimes more lewd than the last. It wasn’t fair, really. The images in her mind made Jenko seem more…appealing. They would zero in on all of the features that Chouko found attractive on him, thoughts that she never wanted to admit to anyone, not even herself. How she adored Jenko’s nicely defined jaw, to his lips, to his intensely dark blue eyes. How his chest was large and toned, his tight shirts only purpose in defining said muscles, bending and flexing with every movement. And his arms. Oh, god, Chouko loved Jenko’s arms. They were strong, hard, filled with muscle, and sheer power. From his biceps to his tattooed triceps, Chouko didn’t care. She loved how they would bulge if he folded his arms, pulsed for attention whenever he was working out…It was still a wonder how Chouko could contain herself around him.
The subconscious Chouko smiled to herself, pressing her thighs together as she continued to mentally strip Jenko, more images popping into her mind, slowly merging into a dream state, wanting nothing more than the sand nin to ravish every curve of her body.
“Mnn…”
Jenko’s eyesbrows raised when he heard the small sound emitting from the Akimichi, his head turning slightly to see if she was awake. He let out a short sigh of relief, seeing that her eyes were still shut, thankful that he hadn’t woken her up.
He watched as Chouko shifted slightly, her thighs now rising, her arm raising and falling onto her stomach, before slowly inching lower down her stomach before her hand disappearing into her shorts, her thigh blocking his vision any further. Jenko sat up slightly, unsure if what he was seeing was really what he was seeing. He dug his nails into his side, wincing slightly. Nope, he was definitely awake.
He watched as Chouko’s thighs parted somewhat, her hand now more visible. Jenko was wide-eyed as he continued to stare; her fingers moving slowly beneath her shorts, her torso thrusting against her fingers as she penetrated herself deeper. Jenko felt his mouth run dry. Chouko was touching herself, right there in front of him! He felt himself glower, eyes still focused on her hands. “But who could she be thinking about?” He questioned in a whisper, sneering at the thought of her pleasuring herself to a male that he didn’t know of.
“J..Jenko…” Chouko released a breathy moan, causing Jenko’s eyes to dart back to her sleeping face. His ears were burning, leaning forward, wanting to know if she said what he thought she had said. He waited for a few minutes, noticing Chouko working her arm faster, his breathing hitching with hers. “Jenko…ahh..”
The puppet mast swallowed hard. So she was thinking about him! Jenko felt his erection throb slightly as it became more apparent. “C-Chouko? Uh, you awake?”
Chouko’s movements stopped, pulling her hand out of her shorts, laying completely still. Afraid that she was awake and ready to fight, Jenko pulled his body away from the girl, not wanting to be accused of anything he didn’t do. He watched her movement closely, but her breath was still even. She was still sound asleep.
Jenko inched closer to her, wanting to be absolutely positive she was still asleep, getting as close as possible to her. “Chouko, if you’re awake, just tell me,” He spoke lowly, expecting to get something out of her, maybe even wake her up, but he wasn’t expecting to turn toward him so quickly, her face burying into his chest, her thighs snaking around his torso, pulling him closer to her.
“Jenko…”
Jenko cursed under his breath, his erection now clearly making its presence known, poking against the inside of her thigh, struggling to get out of her grip, half expecting it to be a trap. “Chouko, seriously, if you’re awake, this isn’t funny…”
Chouko was silent again, which for Jenko, was quite unsettling. Her eyes are still glued shut. She isn’t playing games, she’s actually asleep!
He felt Chouko beginning to shift again, her arm soon finding its way around his waist, her nails lightly raking against his back, causing Jenko to hold his breath for a moment, unsure how to react.
Just stay in control, Jenko, he told himself, trying to focus on something other than Chouko’s developed breasts being crushed against his own, nipples poking at him, teasingly, almost. Gotta stay in control. Gotta stay in control…
Chouko then began to grind her hips against his, the friction causing Jenko to let out a deep, husky groan. She really wasn’t going to make this easy for him, was she?
“Ch-Chouko, c’mon…” He tried one last time to wake her up, and again, he got no response from the sleeping kunoichi. Instead, Jenko felt her lips press against his neck, her nails now digging into his flesh, he cursed as he fully turned his body onto his side, letting Chouko wrap around his form; he reached a hand to her peaceful face, massaging her cheek with his thumb, dipping his neck to her level, his lips hovering over hers. Jenko paused. Was this…wrong? Was he…taking advantage of her? She’s asleep, he tried to reason with himself. But…she’s also dreaming of me. She’s dreaming of my fucking her. Who am I to deny her of my dick?
That thought was enough for Jenko, and at that point, Jenko didn’t give a fuck about right or wrong. If she happened to wake up—and he hoped to God that she would, he wanted her fully functioning when he was pounding her—she’d probably be too turned on to do anything about it.
Jenko then caught her lips into a soft kiss; nothing too heavy, just a gentle touch. He kept still for a moment before he felt Chouko’s lips now move against his, returning the kiss just as gently, but it was also just as needy. This caused the sand-nin to smirk as his body rose slightly, moving into hovering over Chouko’s still form, one arm supporting his weight , wanting to take a step further.
He felt Chouko’s tongue lightly poke against his lips, and he was more than happy to part them for her, letting the muscle plunge into his mouth, her tongue ring scraping against his bottom row of teeth as she wriggled her tongue from side to side, drowning Jenko in the deepest kiss Chouko had ever given him.
This feels amazing… Chouko moaned into Jenko’s mouth, heavily enjoying what she thought to be a dream. Chouko would always fantasize about kissing Jenko—it was just something about his lips that made the Akimichi’s clitoris twitch. She couldn’t even handle the thought of the puppet masters’ tongue—he could work wonders with it. Holy fuck…
Chouko’s thoughts became more lewd, more perverse…She felt her body want to press her thighs against each other once more, but as soon as she moved to do it, she felt that there was something else already between them; her outer consciousness alerted her that something was wrong, and she was slowly waking herself up to figure out what was going on. As she became more aware, she could feel another pair of lips upon hers. This is…different? Panic began to race through her veins. Another pair of lips?!
The Akimichi then forced her eyes open, a shadowy figure upon her—her eyes still weren’t fully focused, and the fact that she couldn’t identify the figure scared her beyond belief. She tore her mouth away from the figure, forcing herself to sit up.
The sudden movement shocked Jenko, and he drew back, but he shamelessly watched as her breasts heaved with her movement, but the painful throb quickly brought him back to attention. “Shit,”
“J-Jenko?!”
She was definitely awake. “Shit.”
“Jenko, what the fuck is going on?! Are we—“
“No, it was me,” he might as well come clean and avoid a harsh beating that had yet to come.
“W-what?” Chouko’s eyes widened, Jenko’s silhouetted form now becoming clear. “What are you saying?”
“You were just…and I couldn’t help myself…”
She tried to recollect her thoughts as to what Jenko could have been talking about. What is he…oh. Oh. Oh, no. Her “dream” wasn’t a dream at all. Chouko’s face flushed deeply. Jenko probably heard everything she was saying.
Chouko slapped her forehead, wanting to hide, embarrassed. “I..I was talking in my sleep, wasn’t I?”
Jenko smirked. “Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it talking…”
“Shut up!”
“You were moaning for me, what was I supposed to do?”
“I was asleep, you creep.”
“You’re the pervert here,” Jenko moved in close to Chouko, using his hand to gently push her down onto her back, and he was upon her in a second. To his surprise Chouko didn’t even try to fight him. And he would be lying to himself if that factor didn’t turn him on even more than he already was. He moved in between her thighs, now balanced over her. “You were fingering yourself to me, Chouko,” he let a hand run through her tousled locks, down the soft skin of her neck before roughly groping at her breast, sneering at her as she let out a soft whimper. “You were lying next to me, moaning my name like a little whore. You were dreaming about me, weren’t you? Dreaming about me fuckin’ you nice and hard, just the way you like it…”
Chouko arched her back as he spoke to her, biting into her lower lip as he groped her, and before she could deny Jenko’s accusations, his lips were quick to cover her own, wasting no time to plunge his tongue deep into her mouth, deepening the kiss almost instantly. Chouko’s mind was melting—she was already horny from her dream, and now that it was happening…well, she didn’t want it to stop. She loosely hung her arms around the older boys’ neck, returning the kiss, ecstasy overwhelming her.
Pleased with how quickly Chouko submitted to him, Jenko thought he could push her envelope a tiny bit more. He broke the kiss, and Chouko whined in disdain, which only furthered Jenko’s amusement. When she would stretch her neck to kiss him once more, he would pull away, just out of her reach. “Nah-uh, Chouko. You can’t just tease me like that and then expect me to just let it slide.”
“But Jenko,” the amount of lust in her voice surprised her. “That’s not fair, I was asleep—“
“I don’t give a fuck,” Jenko smiled as he took a fistful of Chouko’s tank top, tearing it from her body as if it were nothing. He flung the offending piece of clothing to God-knows-where. “You’re such a little cock tease, Chouko. You strut around, making yourself look all fuckin’ innocent, but you know, just as well as I do, that you’re just a dirty, nasty slut that craves my cock.”
Chouko pouted, cheeks burning, turning her head away from at the smirking sand ninja. “Y…That’s not true,” she countered, slightly poking out her lip. “And besides, girls are allowed to get horny, too…”
“Heh, I guess you’re right, but this is coming from the slutty butterfly princess who knows good dick when she sees one,” Jenko leaned forward, nipping at her earlobe, his hand snaking down her side before his hand came into contact with a particularly moist area the hid between Chouko’s thighs, wanting to take his time with torturing her. “I don’t know why you insist on trying to find someone else who you think can please you like I do; that can replace me…you always say you don’t need me, yet you always end up underneath me, princess.”
Chouko hissed as she felt Jenko roughly prod his fingers against her vagina, her shorts failing in protecting her. She knew Jenko was drawing out his torture and was thoroughly enjoying it, and though it wasn’t fair, she loved it. She loved how he would talk to her, how he would tease her—How rough he would become when extremely sexually aroused. He knew exactly how to please her, and even then, he would always switch something up to keep things interesting. Shakino had warned her previously that mission sex between them was bound to happen, but she didn’t believe her. But, she did realize that she hadn’t been with Jenko in quite some time, and Chouko groaned at the though, now becoming impatient.
“Quit fucking around,” she demanded, her body writing beneath the sand nin, misty eyes glaring hard toward him. “You know I hate it when you do.”
“Correction: you absolutely love it.”
“Whatever!”
“C’mon, princess,” Jenko teased, lightly dragging his finger against his slit, liking how Chouko would jolt slightly. She had always been so sensitive. “You know you do. There would be no harm in admitting it. Only I would know.”
“I’m not admitting anything.” Chouko responded flatly, not wanting him to win the argument. But she was beginning to crack. And she really wanted him to be inside of her. “Just…just stop…”
“Say it, slut.” Jenko’s voice had deepened significantly, causing Chouko’s blush to redden. This was the exact response he wanted. “Say how much you love it when I tease you like this. Tell me you love to fantasize about me touching you, grabbing you, kissing you; I want you to tell me, to admit that no one can fuck you as good as I can.” Chouko bit her lip again, much to Jenko’s pleasure. “Besides, if you wanted me to stop, you would have said so already…”
Chouko looked away from the sand nin once more. However, he placed a finger under her chin, and tilted her head up to meet his clouded blue eyes. He grinned down at her. “C’moooon, say it, babygirl. And daddy will let you have this dick.”
“Goddammit, Jenko!” Chouko exploded, twisting underneath him, fingers clawing at his back, causing Jenko to unleashed a groan himself, hoping that she would claw at him harder, desperately hoping she would draw blood. He wanted battle scars. “Okay, okay, I admit it. I love it when you talk dirty to me, I love how you torture me, and touch me; oh god, no one can fuck me as well as you do, Jenko. No one. I need you, you asshole. Now stop screwing around and fuck me!”
It was music to Jenko’s ears.
He then kissed Chouko hard, his free hand making no effort to remove her shorts, discarding them with the forgotten tank top, wherever that was. Jenko smirked as Chouko moaned for him through the kiss, her legs rewrapping around his waist in a tighter grip, his crotch now perfectly aligned with hers. It was Chouko’s turn to pull away, breaking the kiss as soon as it started. Jenko stared down at the Akimichi, eye brow raising slightly, confused.
“Why’d you stop?”
“Why aren’t in you inside of me? Teasing me with your dry-humping isn’t fair,” She gave him her own little smirk, a hint of defiance glistening in her eyes.
Jenko playfully rolled his eyes, letting her hands wander to his hips, fingering the elastic of his boxers. Jenko shifted slightly, letting the girl pull down his shorts, letting out a low chuckle as Chouko blushed slightly at the feel of his length slapping heavily against her lower stomach, her squirming almost making it unbearable.
“You’re so fuckin’ bad, babe.” Jenko teased, his hips now grinding against her own, slowly raising his body, preparing himself to be within her. Chouko wanted to frown, but she quickly decided to let his cocky little comment slide for the time being.
“Yeah, whatever.”
“Are you ready?”
“I’ve been ready.”
“Sorry for trying to be a gentlemen, then.”
Jenko then pushed himself deep within the kunoichi, grunting slightly. Jenko had to admit, out of all the women he had been with, Chouko had always been the tightest, and he knew it was one of the many reasons he always came back to her, as well as among other things...
Chouko sighed happily as she felt herself expand around the size of Jenko’s cock, hips thrusting against him slightly, wanting to make sure she had all of him inside of her, just as she wanted. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, she loved this incredibly wonder feeling that only Jenko could make her feel; she loved every moment of it. He was annoying, and rash, and incredibly masculine, it only added to this misty charm that seemed to circle around him whenever he was around her. The fact that she got to be this close Jenko…she was still in awe.

“Jenko, please, let's talk about this-”
“There's nothing to discuss! I've made up my mind!”
“Jenko, please, please, this affects me just as much as it does you.”
“Bullshit, and you know it!” She stormed through Chouko's apartment, snatching up the things she had left lying around during her visit. “I'm going home.”
“Baby, please,” he begged, following her on her tirade, “please stay with me. Please.”
“No.” She grabbed her black cloak. Chouko gripped it before she had a chance to wrap it around herself, using it to tug her towards him. She fought back during the short time it took him to get her close enough to latch onto.
“Jenko, please.” He grabbed her by the shoulders, barely resisting the urge to shake her in his need to get through to her. “At least stay. One more night.”
“No, you're just gunna pester me the entire time!” she gritted out, twisting in his grip.
“We can't just not talk about it.. You can't do that to me.”
With one particularly violent jerk, she freed herself and the cloak of him. “I can, and I will. Tell me where my shoes are,” she demanded impatiently, wrapping herself in the dark garment.
He looked at her sadly, wanting to make eye contact, but she refused. “In my room.” She bolted down the hall immediately. He was close behind her.
As soon as he'd stepped through the door he shut it behind himself. She turned slowly, looking up at him in thinly veiled anger. “Why do I have a feeling they aren't in here.”
“Baby,” he said softly, taking a step toward her, “please. Talk to me. We can work something out. I'll do anything, just listen to me. Please.”
She took a step back. “There's nothing to talk about. This doesn't concern you.”
“Of course it does! It's my problem just as much as it is yours!”
“The fuck it is! You don't have to walk around all ugly and fat for nine months! And if it's a problem, why not just let me get rid of it like I want?!”
He shook his head, exasperated. “That's not what I meant, you know that. How can I..how can I get through to you?”
“You can't.” She crossed her arms over her chest, turning her head defiantly, her tone resolute.
Chouko took another step, grasping her by the arms again, this time sinking down to his knees before her. His hands slid from her triceps to her waist, and around to her lower back, clutching her close to him. He pushed her cloak open to regard her stomach. He pressed a kiss against her warm skin, just below her navel. He stayed that way for a time, considering all the potential that lie just past her skin. When he broke the kiss, he pressed his cheek to her there. Jenko's hard expression softened when she felt a wetness, and realized it was a tear.
“Baby,” his voice was tight from the knot in his throat, “please, keep it. I want – I want this. I want you.”
Her arms remained crossed, but her voice held more kindness than it had previously. “I can't, Chouko. I'm too young; it'll ruin my life.”
“You're twenty-two. That's ok...it's ok..”
“What will people say? The niece of the Kazekage having a child out of wedlock...I'll be scorned.”
“We'll get married.”
She rolled her eyes before she could get caught up in what he said. “You don't mean that. It's the heat of the moment, and that's a shit reason to get married.”
“No,” he looked up at her, his face genuine. “I do mean it. Really.”
“Chouko-”
“No, I'm serious. Look,” he insisted, his voice stern. He grabbed her wrist and maneuvered on his knees a few feet, just close enough for him to reach his night stand, if he stretched. He pulled a small drawer open, rummaging around in it blindly, before eventually pulling out a small black box. Jenko's lips parted in a silent gasp, her free hand moving to calm the organ hammering away in her chest.
He returned to her, still on both knees. He opened the small box, his eyes anxiously searching hers as the diamond ring sparkled before her. “Marry me, Jenko.”
Her eyes were wide as she took everything in. She tried to form words, but nothing came.
Chouko gave her a half smile, holding her wrist again. “I'm not letting you go until you say yes.”
The hand over her heart went to cover her mouth as tears filled her eyes. Chouko considered her reaction, and stood slowly, taking the ring out of the box. He tossed the small, velvet container onto his bed, taking her left hand in his larger one. Her eyes followed his movements, twin tears falling when he took her hand.
He lowered his head to capture her gaze. When their eyes met, he asked, “Is this ok?” looking down at their hands, leading her gaze to follow his. He had the ring positioned in front of her trembling ring finger. He looked back to her face. Her eyes remained on the ring, but feeling his survey of her, she nodded her head.
He slid the ring onto her finger and pulled her into a tight hug, rubbing her back. “I love you so much, Jenko. Please keep our child.”
She nodded her head against his shoulder.
He leaned back enough to look her in the eye. “Are you happy?”
Jenko nodded her head again, her eyes glistening. She gave him a small smile, which abruptly broke into a single laugh as a few more tears fell.
“Good.” Chouko undid the fasten that secured her cloak around her shoulders, letting the fabric fall from her. “Stay with me.”
Jenko didn't argue as Chouko removed one article of clothing after another, not stopping until he had her naked beneath him under his sheets. He kissed her from her lips, to her breasts, to her abdomen, lingering there. Jenko writhed beneath him, anxious for him to continue his venture south, but he did not oblige, holding her hips in a firm grip. The more he kissed her, the more she squirmed and called for him. He breathed heavily through his nose the more aroused she got, subconsciously grinding himself against the mattress. He refused to fuck her; he wanted to worship her body, not invade and bruise it.
When he could take no more of her persistent begging, he moved lower and covered her sex with his mouth. Jenko swiveled her hips up to meet his hungry lips and tongue as he grunted and groaned against her, more than appreciative of her body – the magnificent body that would bear him a child. He released one of her sides in order to unzip himself. He pushed past the boxers and seized his girth, pumping himself in time with Jenko's hips. The louder she got, the faster he went, and when she came in his mouth, he was coming in his hand, and he wouldn't have had it any other way. He gave her clit one last kiss before resurfacing from beneath the sheets.
He held her close as she curled up against him, peacefully drifting off to sleep. He placed a hand protectively over her abdomen.
“You continue to make me the happiest man alive.”

“She left me, you know.”
Who left you?
“The one I had. The only one. Chouko. She doesn't want anything to do with me.”
I'm so sorry, my love.
“I wasn't good enough for her.”
You are plenty good, my love.
“Not good enough,” Jenko said, his eyes drifting from the tombstone in front of him. The white sky above him was too blinding to look at, the desolate ground too depressing. Jenko's hands clenched into fists within the pockets of his dark jeans.
There will be another.
“No. No there won't. No one else will ever care. You were the only one.”
She cared.
“I know. She was the only one. There is no one else like her.”
That's what you said about me.
Jenko paused. “She has your eyes, you know.”
I know, my little love. She was lovely.
“She was..and I lost her. Just like I lost you.”
But I'm right here, love.
“No, you're not. I couldn't save you. And now you're gone.”
You couldn't save me. You were too young.
“And now I have no one. No one cares about me. No one ever will.”
I care about you, my love. You can't forget me.
“You're not real. Chouko was real. She was the only one since you.”
There will be others, dear.
“No!” Jenko exclaimed, becoming animated. He paced back and forth before the grave. “There won't be! 'Cause I'm a fuck up. I'm fucked, because of you! Because I couldn't save you -”
You couldn't save me.
“No one else will ever love me.”
Chouko loved you.
“She doesn't anymore. And she shouldn't. I don't....I didn't treat her well. I don't know how to love anyone. Because you left. Ever since you left..”
You'll never know how to love anyone properly.
“I don't want to. I don't want to experience that pain again.”
You'll die alone.
“That's better than....” The graveyard grew silent. A slight wind blew as the demented young man dropped to his knees before the grey slab, clutching his head in his hands. Finally, the tears came.
No one will ever love you again. You finally found another, and you let her go.
“It's not my fault,” Jenko ground out through clenched teeth, hunched over. His hands slid up and back into his dark hair, gripping painfully at the strands.
It is. You deserve it after what you did to me. After what you couldn't do.
“I couldn't do anything! I was too young, too young,” the man howled to all the un-hearing bodies in the deserted cemetery.
Why didn't you save me, Jenko? Did you not love me enough? Akiko would have saved me, had she had the chance. She loves me.
“I love you, too, so much – so much, please -” Nails bit into his scalp, raking at the skin there, leaving it raw.
You'll never understand what it means to love. You'll only hurt people. You deserve no one.
“I did understand! I understood. I loved you. I loved her!” the whites of his eyes glistened in the light beneath fluttering lids as his eyes rolled back. Searing pain licked at the inside of his skull, his nails attempting to split his head down the middle.
You didn't, Jenko, or she'd be here with you now.
“I loved her,” He choked out, fingers caked with blood. His body lurched forward and his hands were moving, performing the seal. Then he was still, his fingers curling and uncurling, his neck the only part of him responding. He sat back on his haunches, convulsing, bloody hands proffered upward as if to give sacrifice. Slowly his straining hands closed, and slowly, his neck bent to their whim.
No, Jenko.
“I love her! And now she's gone, just like you.” His head twisted back at an unnatural angle, his fingers gradually clamping down on the life within their palms. A grin cracked across his unhinging jaw as he felt his trachea compressing. He hadn't managed to save anyone, how could be possibly expect to save himself. He was pathetic.
Jenko.
“Gone..” the man barely managed to wheeze.
“Jenko! JENKO, STOP! JENKO!!”
He was jolted, and shaken, and he lost his channel. He gasped for air as he was forced to release himself from his jutsu, his lungs burning. He slumped against the girl before him. She held him, whispered to him, as he recovered.
“You are loved, you are loved, you are -” she repeated, rocking him as he slowly came back to his place on earth. She was the only one who understood, somehow.
After a time, he asked, staring at the tombstone's etched face. “Where's mom?”
“She's not here,” she whispered.
And he broke down, sobbing violently against his sister, clutching at her back. The sun began to set as he struggled to gather himself. Eventually the tears stopped, and he carefully rebuilt the barrier he had grown so fond of. The one that kept this part of him, away from everyone else.
“Have I told you, you sound just like her, the older you get,” he said to the tombstone, his eyes solemn.
“You have.”
“I lost her.”
“You didn't.”
“No, Chouko.” He swallowed a lump in his throat, fortifying the last of his walls. Akiko held him tighter.
“It'll be ok. She can be saved.”
