Tips for how to help a highly distracted gifted child. But I suspect the tips would be good for anyone who is easily distracted.
One thing I have done to help my son is label the two pockets of his homework folder with "Unfinished" and "Finished." That way he can put the finished work away and not have to process it again, and we can both easily determine if there is any unfinished work to be done. Of course, getting him to put his homework back into the folder is another story!

I'm not a fan of flash cards. Since E is taking timed arithmetic tests at school, I downloaded these to help him improve his speed. He gets a nickel for each one he can answer correctly under x seconds (with x being somewhere between 5 and 10, depending on the operation and his general proficiency).
Unlike a lot of other printable flashcards I saw, these pack a lot into a single sheet.
My son, E, has been on a gluten-free diet since September, which means we eat a lot more rice and rice-based food. This article was particularly illuminating and distressing.
I use this site a lot to determine the grade level of the books my kids are reading.
I love this page because it takes the box of "gifted kids" and differentiates them into finer categories that make more sense.
Not all gifted children are brilliant, well-behaved students. Despite what a lot of people think, being gifted does not necessarily mean an easy pass through school with automatic A's and a successful career on the horizon.

I am starting this after a long week of being called to the principal's office multiple times at my son's school. I find interesting ideas on behavior, diet, discipline, advocacy, and education all over the place, and I am hoping this will make a good repository for what I find. Enjoy!
