“The latter.” Bennie partially lied.
“That is good thinking, I don’t think I could pull off the mourning look.” She joed with a small laugh.

“The latter.” Bennie partially lied.
“That is good thinking, I don’t think I could pull off the mourning look.” She joed with a small laugh.
We can all be fit like you.
“I do look good tonight.”
“At least I have a bit of white, too - not too depressing,” Fina replied with a laugh. She neglected to mention their previous meeting, wanting to forget about it rather than bring it up at a party. “I like your dress,” she added with a genuine smile.
Jenn raised her eyebrows for a brief moment, smiling a little in response. “I suppose you’ve got me there.” She said, watering down her brash nature after their last encounter, hoping it wouldn’t be brought up. “Thank... you.” She hated saying it, trying to smile naturally. “You suit yours.” Her smile was genuine finally.
“Well, this is actually navy… Does tha’ count?” Roxy giggled. “At least all the red an’ pink decorations make it a bit more lively.”
“I suppose it’s fine and it does suit you.” She said, almost teasing her with a smile. “I hadn’t even noticed the decorations.” She lied.
Black is slimming and we’ve all got beer-bellies to hide.
“What a lovely mental image.”
“You look pretty depressin’ yaself, love.”
“I look amazing.”
“Fortunately with better booze than any funeral I’ve been to.”
“Go to many funerals? Or just sneak in to steal the booze?”
“Everythin’ looks like a god damn funeral with you around. Does that moody face never fade?”
“In such pleasant company? ‘Fraid not.”
“Sure thing, wet-eyes.”
“Aren’t you funny.”
“It looks like a funeral with everyone in black.”
“Sorry, I think… Ya a bit too drunk to be served.”
“I’d say get a bouncer, but he’s so tiny I bet you could take him.”
“Oi, what you got there?”
“My drink.”
“Want to tell me what you are doing in the men’s toilets?
“Not really.”
Jenn threw her almost empty bottle of wine at the person who had startled her, angered that they’d seen her so vulnerable. “What?! You’ve never seen someone cry before? Fuck off!”
“ Holy fuck! Are you insane? ” Rose cursed at the vigorous bottle that headed her way, shattering near her. “ I’ve seen plenty of crying in my lifetime. You don’t have to throw a bottle at me though, I wasn’t passing any judgment. ”
"Maybe." She said with a serious expression, a fleeting moment of self analysis gone before it formed. "Maybe you deserved it." She commented with a sarcastic smile.
Rolling her eyes, Jenn grabbed the nearest bottle of wine and walked up to the counter, needing to drown her sorrows. “How fascinating.” She said, her words dripping with sarcasm as she shoved money at her, for once buying the alcohol.
Portia’s eyes gazed up and down Jennifer. “If you can afford this, you could at least do somethin’ with your clothes. They’re disgusting,” Portia told the girl; her voice going higher at the end. Then she looked at the face of the girl. Clothes were always the first thing she noticed. The blonde put her fingers on her cheek and leaned over to the counter. With a quick movement, Portia snatched the alcohol away. “Keep your stolen money. I ain’t servin’ someone who tries to steal from us.”
"Aren't you precious." Jenn laughed, watching the blonde with clear contempt. "I bet all your insults are as well thought out and original as that. But hey, if paying for alcohol is stealing, the call the cops." She laughed louder, leaving the money on the counter as she grabbed another bottle on her way out.
Jenn threw her almost empty bottle of wine at the person who had startled her, angered that they’d seen her so vulnerable. “What?! You’ve never seen someone cry before? Fuck off!”
Bennie side stepped the bottle by mere inches, it falling to the floor after a somewhat satisfying smash. She blinked, unfazed. Instead of following every instinct that told her to leave, she stepped forward a little. “Never had a wine bottle thrown at me by a crying person before.” Bennie lied. She couldn’t ignore every instinct, after all.
"I find that surprising." Jenn chuckled dryly, her back hitting the wall as she slid to the ground in defeat. "We all do shit that requires something to be thrown."
