How I Did my Makeup at School
How I Did my Makeup at School
Hi guys!
School in the 90s and early naughties was an awkward time for makeup for many tweens my age. We didn’t have YouTube tutorials and only had our Mam’s and friends to give us advise on what goes on our faces.
This tag has been going around lately where people are recreating their old looks. Mine really aren’t that out there but my techniques were a bit off.
Before I do the whole…

My Healthy Creamy Hot Chocolate Recipe
My Healthy Creamy Hot Chocolate Recipe
We all need a chocolate boost sometimes but don’t always want to cheat on our diets. A creamy hot chocolate can be loaded in calories, so I created this recipe a few months ago and I have it when I need a sugar rush during ‘that time.’ It’s also beginning to get a little cooler through the day, so we will all soon be drinking hot drinks by the bucket load!
If you do want a low calorie chocolatey…

Two Vids in One Day!
New Video: Using Nyx’s Kush Eyeshadow This could very well be my favourite video to date. Everything is in focus, the lighting was fab and I only occassionally suffer verbal diarrhea.
Monotone Eyes and Bold Lips
Monotone Eyes and Bold Lips
Sometimes you just want to scrap all the fancy techniques and go for something easy.
Today I used the Lancome Teint Idol Cushion Foundation and used the Bare Minerals Bare Pro as a powder.
For bronzer I used the Liz Earl Radiant Glow Bronzer, dusting that lightly along my cheek bones and swept Nars’ Impassioned Blush over my cheeks. For highlight I took a light layer of Nars’ Nico on top of my…

Hi guys,
I have let my reviews sort of phase away as of late, and I don’t know why. I’ve got a lot of amazing products in my bags that I just haven’t gotten round to giving my full thoughts on.
That’s going to change from this month. Every now and again, I will throw in a review of something that I’ve either loved or been really disappointed with.
Part of the makeup world that doesn’t normally excite me is mascara. I usually find one or two that I love and just keep repurchasing them. I’m not fussy.
I was curious when I saw this in Boots as I was buying yet another lipstick. It looked really sleek and quite different to the other straight up and down packaged mascaras in Cliniques range. This claims to give three different eyelash looks with one brush. It all depends on how much product is allowed onto the brush. This retails at £20, which is around the same price as most high end mascaras.
To shift the volume of the mascara, you twist a small dial on the upper part of the tube. It’s clearly labelled to help people find their desired effect, although I did find it quite stiff to twist around. It has loosened in time however (I have been using it for about a month now).
As for how this looks on the lashes, if you’re expecting a Too faced Better Than Sex product dupe, you will be disappointed. Although their are subtle differences in the look of each lash look, your lashes will remain very fluttery and natural. This does not clump lashes together or thicken them. It just appears to enhance the natural beauty of your normal lashes.
I love the effect that it gives. It’s certainly an everyday mascara for when I wear more subtle eye looks. It will make the eyes pop without overpowering the eyes completely. The wand is also perfect for bottom lid lashes too.
Some mascaras do tend to smudge on me. On a regular day, I haven’t noticed any smudging. It’s a fab everyday mascara.
What are your thoughts on this mascara? How are you finding it if you do use it?
Hope you’re having a fab day guys. I’ll see you tomorrow.
Bye for now!

What's in My Betty Boop Z-Palette
What’s in My Betty Boop Z-Palette
I wasn’t going to do this post originally, partially because I own a lot of NYX shadows and their names are not on the back of the product. However, I asked permission to take photos of the eyeshadow stand at my local NYX counter to take home and study my shadows. I eventually found them all and have labelled them properly.
So now, I have swatched all 56 shadows and photographed them…

And they’re amazing!
Most of you will know that I love the Body Shop as a brand. I love their skincare items; the Hemp Face Protector still being my number 1 ride or die face cream. Their makeup items are also really stepping up their game; the new eyeshadow palettes are fab, as well as their bronzers and foundations. It really is a very affordable, fantastic quality brand!
I was really excited when I received my email about their new releases. I love face masks on pamper nights. It’s just a little touch of luxury.
Body Shop have release five new masks for different skin concerns. The only one that really called out to my skin at the time was the Nourishing Ethiopian Honey Mask. I am obsessed with honey smelling things (hint hint my Marc Jacobs Honey Perfume needs replacing) and the fact that this helps replenish dry skin was a win-win for me.
The masks retail at £15 each, which is quite reasonable considering you get a fair amount of product for your money. You get 75ml which will last you ages. The Body Shop have also simplified their packaging. It’s all glass and feels very sturdy. I’m pretty sure this could knock somebody out if you threw it at them. Not that I’m encouraging you to throw this at people!
So coming back to the product itself? Is it any good.
Firstly, you need only a tiny amount of this to cover your face. This spreads really evenly and although it doesn’t dry like a regular face mask, this does go tacky, so your hair won’t really stick to it and make a mess.
I applied two fingerfuls of product all over my face and kept it on for 30 minutes. My face didn’t feel tight and didn’t tingle. The mask felt very cooling and the smell was really relaxing.
To remove it I washed it off with some warm water on a muslin cloth. My skin felt really smooth and hydrated straight away. That horrible dry patch under my left eye appeared less scaly and dry. This was after one use. Goodness knows how good my skin will feel after using this for a fair while.
What are your thoughts on the new Body Shop masks? Have you used any of them yet.
Today I review one of @TheBodyShopUK new face masks. And they're amazing! Most of you will know that I love the Body Shop as a brand.
Earlier this week, I purchased two Z-Palettes from Beauty Bay. The palettes are brilliant, and a great way of customising your eyeshadow collection. However one thing did annoy me. MAC eyeshadows with a magnet already inserted don’t fit properly. They kept falling out and weren’t as secure as the NYX and Makeup Geek shadows.
I looked online to see if anybody else had this issue and how to solve it, but nothing came up. Therefore, I came up with my own solution. My Z-Palettes came with a few magnets for depotted shadows, so I put them to good use.
Here is how I re-magnetised my MAC shadows.
You Will Need
A candle
A spoon
A blunt knife
Magnets
Stickers
A Pen
Firstly, I lit my candle and placed the spoon over the flame. On this I placed my eyeshadow. I left this to warm for twenty seconds. I then tipped it onto a heatproof surface.
Next, and be careful not to burn yourself, Remove the old magnet with a blunt knife. The heat will have melted the glue under the magnet enough to remove easily.
As the old sticker will be useless now that the magnet has been destroyed, I wrote my own labels for each shadow.
I then took the new magnets that came with the Z-Palettes and cut out my new labels to place on the back of the magnet. I still want to know what they are just in case I want to repurchase in the future.
Then, removing the sticky pad from the front of the magnet and stick this to the back of the eyeshadow.
The eyeshadows are now ready to be returned to the Palette. And they are certainly more secure now. None have loosened themselves as of yet!
I hope this comes in useful if anybody else has this issue.
Have a lovely day guys!

What's in my Makeup Bag?
What’s in my Makeup Bag?
It’s a new month, and Summer is almost over. I love Autumn but it’s been nice to have the sunshine for a little while. It looks like the North East has returned to normality.
I received a makeup bag in a recent shopping trip to the House of Fraser, and it’s pretty awesome. It fits a fair amount of makeup in it, and as it isn’t too deep, you can reach things easily. Don’t worry, I haven’t thrown…

Introducing my Second Z-Palette....
Introducing my Second Z-Palette….
…. and a Plea for Help!
Hi guys!
My second Z-Palette finally arrived. As you can see, I couldn’t resist something as prettily packaged as this. The bright splashes of colour drew me in.
This is from the Betty Boop collection; their are smaller ones available, but I wanted two large Z-Palettes in an attempt to downsize the amount of single shadows that I own. This palette costs the same as any…

Hi guys!
As some of you know, I work on a shift pattern in a mental health hospital. The air conditioning in the building does wreck havoc with your skin, and hair does look pretty shit by the end of a 9 hour shift.
On my last shift, I tend to finish at 5, so I still have some of the day left to relax. In this time I attempt to feel more human.
Here is how I achieve this.
By the end of my shift, my makeup does tend to smudge or be non-existent; redness will certainly creep through; so I tend to take an oil based cleanser (Bare Minerals Oil Obsessed) and massage this all over my face and neck to remove all the residue makeup left on my skin. If there is any mascara left I take a small amount of Botanical Micellar Water on a cotton pad and wipe that gently over my eyelids.
To give my hair some life, on days that I really can’t be bothered to shower on, I spritz a bit of dry shampoo onto it and massage it into my head. I like dry shampoos that add some volume to the hair, and love the Aussie range. This one actually doesn’t look powdery on my hair.
The heating systems in hospitals can be a little dodgy; it’s either too hot or too cold, no comfortable middle ground; and my skin will be dull, dry and red by the end of it. To give it back some life I use the same products from my morning routine to renourish the skin and add a glowy primer to the mix. The Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer adds some serious glow to the skin, making it reflect light and look a lot healthier.
In an evening is where I tend to play around with makeup, and be a little creative with my eyes. This is usually when I practice bridal makeup on myself or just do something totally daring that I wouldn’t wear on a daily basis.
Today I went for a dark smoky outer eye and added a pop of deep green to the lid. This look would be better suited to Autumnal days, but I loved creating it. I teamed this up with a bright orange lip.
On the actual evening I will then chill out with a book or watch something on Netflix (currently binging on Merlin). I will also jot ideas for future blog posts and begin writing them on my phone.
That is my after work re-humanise routine. How do you spend your evenings after work?
Have a lovely day guys!

My After Work Routine Hi guys! As some of you know, I work on a shift pattern in a mental health hospital.
Pretty in Pink
We all need to step out of our comfort zones sometimes. My comfort zone tends to be more greens and golds.. maybe the odd turquoise. And orange. And blue. Maybe the odd purple….
…okay any colour under the spectrum other than pink!
Pink is such a tricky colour as it can have the tendency of giving the impression of sore skin. This tends to happen on my cheeks and eyes. Having watery eyes anyway,…

Z-Palette 1
Hi guys!
In preparation for getting a dressing table I am trying to cut down my makeup collection. I have quite a few NYX 9 pan palettes filled with a mixture of MAC and NYX eyeshadow pans.
I wanted to get my collection of 81 shadows down to 56. I have purchased 2 Z-Palettes from Beauty Bay (£16.95 each). Only one has arrived so far so I started the sorting last night.
This one has my most…

Rose Pop and Early Mornings
Rose Pop and Early Mornings
Hi guys! How are you all today?
As I write this I am downing a bottle of lucozade ready to start a shift on only 4 hours sleep. Brain once again wouldn’t switch off last night!
My usual way of attempting to feel more comfortable in my skin when I’m tired is to wear a dewier foundation and concealer along with a bold lip.
Today I’m wearing one of Clinique’s Matte Pop Lipsticks in the shade Rose…
