Watch out, pet owners! Beware these parasites in 2026, and avoid hantavirus.

Avoid hantavirus like the plague. It's quite similar.

The Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) has released their 2026 Pet Parasite Forecast. Here are the worst parasites and zoonotic diseases that may be infecting your cat, dog, or other animal.

These parasites are zoonotic, meaning they spread from pets to humans, and the CAPC forecast is 94% accurate.

* Lyme disease vectors

* ehrlichiosis

* anaplasmosis

* heartworm and other worms

* Blacklegged ticks (a key Lyme disease vector)

* Deer ticks

* Lice

* toxoplasmosis ("cat scratch fever"), which often spreads to humans through cat feces — be careful changing the litter in your cat box!

VIDEO: One night, Gen. George Smith Patton Jr. (1885-1945) noticed wounded Black G.I.s laid out in the cold, outside the field hospital.

PATTON: "Are these men outside because they're Black?"

The response was something about "integration policy." [They were working on it??] 🙄

PATTON: "I don't care about your policy!"

Only one person objected. Patton told the man, a white sergeant, he could either stay and follow orders, or leave.

Before driving off, Patton told them, "This never happens again!" and that any future violations would result in court martial.
