You say you ship slytherpuff because of Vmin, but who's the slytherin and who's the hufflepuff?
Oh baby it’s SlytherJim and HuffleTae all the way. Let me explain.
Slytherins and Hufflepuffs share one very important common interest. People. With Hufflepuffs, it’s compassion for humans, loyalty above all. But Slytherins are loyal too, in their way, to their people. And only their people.
Kim Taehyung is Hufflepuff Extraordinaire. Remember how I said Hufflepuffs were my favorites? I think JK Rowling made clear that you have some degree of choice in your house selection, you choose what you prize. So Hufflepuffs can be the bravest, the smartest, the most ambitious people around, but they choose loyalty, fairness, and kindness above all, and I think that speaks volumes about them. I also think that’s Kim Taehyung to a T. Brilliant, brave, and ambitious, but kind and fair above all, loves every baby every grandma every puppy every human in this world and just wants everyone to be happy.
And Jimin? Kim Namjoon himself sorted Jimin into Slytherin. Why? Raw Ambition. That boy right there, he snatched the last spot in Bangtan. He didn’t have an In like Namjoon, he wasn’t scouted like Jin, he competed with lots of other people to make it. And you know what? He did. He busted his ASS he did what he had to do, he made it. Polite? Yes. Adorable? You betcha. Willing to cut a bitch? Probably.
But he was new to the big city! He had no one. And who greeted him at the dorms with red panties and a big smile, and who introduced him to all his friends at school and said ‘Hey be nice to this guy’? That would be HuffleTae. Hufflepuffs tend to come into things with an open mind, without prejudice, they don’t necessarily judge Slytherins off the bat like a lot of others might. So they put in the effort with that Slytherin that others might not, and you know what? That Slytherin takes notice. And once they do, you’re one of theirs now.
Kim Taehyung loves wildly and with abandon. And I think he gets hurt sometimes, loving as hard and free as he does. Tae is so positive, he sees the world as such a beautiful place, and so when it does get a little ugly and a little sad, I think it cuts really deep. But SlytherJim knows this, constantly has an eye on him, monitoring him, ready to mitigate and to do what needs to be done to make things right. With a smile and an impish laugh? Absolutely. But he’s there, and he’s not gonna let shit happen to his friend, if he has anything to say about it. We’ve seen this before, seen Tae get upset over that misunderstanding with one of their first music show wins, seen him hurting bad over various other personal things. And Jimin is always the one who’s right there, protectively an almost possessively, saying ‘hey I know this sucks now, but I’m right here beside you and we’re gonna get through it and we can cry together when we get home.’ I think maybe SlytherJim has seen a bit more of the ugliness in the world than Tae, is a little more willing to get his hands dirty and do what it takes to protect his friend.
And Tae is exactly what Jimin needs too! Unconditional love and acceptance, a partner in crime, a little ego stroking from time to time, a positive balance to his tendency to be hard on himself or others. Slytherins love deeply too, but selectively. Like Snape loved Lily and Narcissa loved Draco, that Slytherin will fight for you once you’re theirs. And Park Jimin? I think he would kill and die for Kim Taehyung. “But Park Jimin is an Angel,” you might say, “He’d do this for anyone.” But you know what? I don’t think that’s necessarily true. He’s the angel of Bangtan, because they’ve earned his trust and loyalty. He’s polite to everyone because that’s what the business demands and because hes a kind boy. ‘Kind’ and ‘Slytherin’ aren’t mutually exclusive. And so what we see, most of the time, is Angel Jimin. But just watch him with overseas interviewers and shit, and you’ll see what his face looks like when you haven’t earned it. Polite to everyone but loyal to his select few, loyal to Bangtan and loyal to Kim Taehyung.
