disclaimer: spoilers ahead! ido not claim to be an expert in any of the things that go into making a movie like this. if you are going to reply to this post calling me an idiot or insulting my intelligence just because you liked the movie more than i did, move the fuck on. i donāt want to deal with that and i will block you if you donāt have anything useful to add to the conversation. also i will probably misspell a lot of words.
letās start with the things i liked:
sound design, soundtrack, set, and cinematography were all fantastic.
elliot pageās character was probably my favorite. i didnāt know he was in the movie at first, so i was excited when i saw himā¦ only for him to die immediately. but then we got to see more of him when he told odysseus to give robert pattinson his shame back. peak.
zendaya as athena struck me as odd at first, but then i warmed up to her and really liked how the goddess of wisdom was portrayed as a young girl. and then the reveal with troy! that was great, i got chills
CIRCE. oh my lord. i was taken completely by surprise by her character. i was expecting her to be this seductive queen, but she was justā¦ a regular woman. a scared woman. and then the way she shaped the men into pigs was absolutely horrifying. incredible.
agamemnonās entrance into troy was epic.
now for the things i didnāt like.
since i already mentioned agamemnon, his helmet was the stupidest thing in the movie. bro did not need allat. and what was up with that spine? i feel like that would just make it sooo much heavier and with a lot less articulation.
not a single dog shown on screen survived until the end of the movie. sad face.
the dialogue was weird to me. it seemed really clunky and awkward for most of the movie. also, telemachus saying mom and dad really took me out of the moment. it seemed way too modern.
charlize theron was excellent, but (and i say this with absolutely no judgement to people whoāve had plastic surgery or botox or whatever) i could tell that sheād had work done, and that took me out of the moment too. her face is a lot more modern than a lot of the other actors in the movie.
anyways. those are my thoughts on the movie. iād give it a 7.5/10. also, if you are sensitive to loud sounds or flashing lights, you might want to skip this one. i saw it in imax, and holy shit it was loud.
again, if youāre going to argue with me just for the sake of arguing, move on. iāve had enough of that on this site, and also with my brother, who is currently defending this movie with his life.
overall, i enjoyed it. it was definitely an epic movie. cheers.
