So I know there is a debate about the use of AI in the community that I won’t get into but saw that one of its supposed uses was for defaults.

I just wanted to put out there that if anyone has questions, needs troubleshooting, to be walked through the process, or me to look at their files to see if I can spot an issue, I’m really happy to do so. I know last time I posted about this I got some comments pushing back on my use of AI for this app. I understand the concerns that people have, so i'm trying to be more thoughtful going forward. I have never used AI like this in the past, it was simply because I got given "Free Access" with the purchase of my new computer and I thought I would utilize the fact it was free to finally create something that I wanted. That free era is almost over but I won't be using it again.

I also got way more comments / messages saying how much they enjoyed the app. Thank you for both kinds of messages, good or bad.

After talking and discussing with people on both sides of the fence I have come the decision to hire a HUMAN developer to look into the app, look at its code, check for any "nastiness" that some people were worried out, and genuinely review and audit / fix any coding errors.

Going forward I will acknowledge that yes, the initial set up for this app was built with the help of AI, but future updates / current changes and anything else will be done by a hired human developer.

This developer gave me a comprehensive review of the app and confirmed there was no nastiness or weird stuff going on with the code - which I knew anyway but it's nice to have that confirmed.

They had some recommendations for some changes, such as as only allowing the app to read .package files / its own files. When "uninstalling" it should make sure it is only removing files it created - it should be doing that anyway but they recommended some more checks in the back end.

So they have edited some of the code already. But I hired them again to address the tightening of the code regarding the file reading and other recommendations they have suggested. Which again, has now been implemented.

So that being said... here is the Sims CODEX - again!

Note - The Sims CODEX is currently unsigned, so Windows / Some antivirus programs may show a warning. This is because code signing requires paid identity verification which displays my personal details. The app is offline, reads local Sims 2 .package files, and has had its source reviewed for unsafe behavior.

I was one of the loudest, obnoxious voices in lordcrumps' ear. Without getting into the how and why of the politics of the US, I did not support this app because of how it was created.

That being said, I think lordcrumps taking the step to appease (me) and assure people the app is safe to use and is being reviewed/edited by a human is fantastic.

as venezuela is my home country, all of this hits especially close to home. thankfully, my family and loved ones are safe since they were in cities not as severely affected. however, many others have not been as fortunate and are now facing the aftermath of these events.

years of political and economic instability have left many communities with limited resources and infrastructure, making it even more difficult to respond to emergencies like this. there are reports of people who remain missing, and many families are still waiting for news about their loved ones. rescue efforts have been made even more difficult by shortages of equipment, ambulances, and other emergency resources needed to respond to a disaster of this scale.

like, its my PAID job to work against global warming and try to do all we can, find ways to help fight the global warming; countries are experiencing record highs that can be deadly and we're still out here using/defending AI when it absolutely DOES contribute to global warming.

this is my JOB. this has been a long-time concern and activism ive been apart of for 25 years of my life.

i think its mighty irresponsible as beings who all share this planet to ignore this big issue that we WILL all face if we dont deny AI sooner. we can do it, we need to work together - not be at each other's throats.

big tech has been trying to keep people stupid and oblivous for literal decades and it's working

there is a reason why so many people do not know how their computers work. Everything is hidden behind a fancy GUI to supposedly make things "easy" and "user friendly", but what it actually led to is that people don't fucking know what their computer is actually doing in the background. Things are obfuscated and so it's no wonder that more and more people claim they are "not tech savvy". Why would they be? They are never confronted with how things work, they never have a reason to learn about it (unless things break and then it's already too late). But this is precisely how companies like microsoft managed to sneak in so much bullshit over the years stealing people's data that most people don't even know of, or if they know about it, they don't know how to turn it off. Software like Windows isn't shitty and poorly organized by accident, it's by design. You are not supposed to know where to find stuff and they intentionally make it so people feel overwhelmed before even starting to learn how things work, so they don't even attempt to learn. The complaints about this have been around for a while and they've had more than enough time to fix this, they just don't want to because it clashes with their business model.

now we have AI and instead of learning how to code (or at least read and understand code), people are using it to vibe code stuff that they end up not understanding. And it's the same principle again: It looks shiny on the surface, it seemingly works, it's supposedly quick and easy, so why should people care to learn how to do it themselves?

We don't even know what data these LLMs have been fed with at this point. It's simply too much and they don't exactly have a concise list of sources. For all we know, these companies could even intentionally poison their own LLM to include harmful code in vibe coded programs because harvesting people's data is how they grow the fastest. That's all they care about. And because they are pretty successful in keeping people dumb and uneducated, there wouldn't even be any consequences for them, same as there haven't been any consequences for them for all the other bs they have pulled until now.

If the whole "AI is bad for the climate" thing is too big and hopeless for people to ralley behind it, at the very least people should ralley behind not *personally* getting exploited any further by these multi billionaires.
