For December: There is so much pressure here to have this next season all figured out, but remember, it’s okay if you don’t. Do your best, but in your deepest moments of stress, remember you are deeply rooted in grace, and it’s not going away even though you are faced with unknowns. ⠀ Do your best, prepare for the worst—then trust God to bring victory. -Proverbs‬ ‭21:31‬ ‭MSG‬‬ ⠀ Things may look a little different than they did last year, but you are still not defined by what you did or did not accomplish. Keep giving your all, knowing you can trust God with all of this, and He will still lead you in the direction of where you need to be. ⠀ Those decisions you need to make? Those tasks you need to complete? Those things that keep you up at night? The Spirit is still your guide here. He will still take the lead. So close your eyes, take a deep breath, and call on Him. He is not intimidated by any of this. He is not too busy to guide you. He is not tired of you calling on Him. God knows what you are up against and He knows how to guide you through it. So trust Him. The cross was not God’s invention—it was ours. The cross was an instrument of torture, a method of intimidation created by an empire that needed to keep its conquered cities in check. In all our need for an eye for an eye, I have to wonder sometimes if Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is an answer not to God’s wrath, but to ours. I have to wonder if God, having listened to us cry for blood, decided to offer his own. Perhaps Jesus hung on a cross to demonstrate the inevitable outcome of retributive justice in the face of an empire that used violence to expand, that survived only by placing societies under its oppressive heel. Jesus didn’t hold up a sword in response to a sword. He took the sword into His side, and in doing so, revealed our brutality for what it was.

Ephesians 2:10 says we are God’s workmanship. The greek word Paul uses is ‘poiéma’ which is where we get the word ‘poem.’ You are the poem God is writing- unique and beautiful.
