1. Okay, so I do not approve of them dragging poor Viv into a battle (she is a child after all!), but I get it that they did not have much choice. Had they left her alone, she would have been a much more vulnerable target. The Blood Spiral would not hesitate to send a man or two to find and kill her. Now that she is on the battlefield with everyone, she can be 1) kept from the front lines, 2) more or less watched by others and so - protected if need be. It is choosing the lesser of two evils.
2. I think that it is important for children to see that people⦠even adults⦠just get scared like everyone else?
3. It is a freaking battle. Of course SOMEONE should be scared. It is only realistic. Seekers are not soldiers. Seekers are not prepared to fight for their lives, especially not under such dire circumstances. I am glad that SOMEONE has enough common sense to go into a full panic mode, because, yeah, what were the chances that they would make it to the morning? Thank you, Rainbow, for showing a character that I can, for once, fully relate to.
4. Viv had a small arc in the episode about overcoming her fear and anxiety, and while it was not enough, I think that it was a nice lesson to the children. Tersly, I think, also was not useless for the entirety of the battle, so⦠I can see where you are coming from but I really do not get your issue? I mean, back when I was an edgy teen, I totally thought Tersly and Vivās reactions as a bit annoying, but as a young adult I am so glad that not all Seekers are shown as perfectly fearless? Because not all of them should be.
5. Both Viv and Tersly may seem to be a handicap to the rest of team, but they are not. They are fully capable of defending themselves - they just get overwhelmed by fear sometimes. Plus, their physical strength is not their only strength - they still have their Titans and they have their minds. I know that it was not really shown in the TV series but I would not put it beyond the realm of possibility that Viv and Tersly are good tacticians, and they were in the battle also for strategist support⦠or something like that.
Plus, if they were shown completely at ease with the battle, it would be terribly OOC. And Montehue without Tersly? Oh, please. They are a unit.
Sorry, @jesslysue, for chiming in and I can absolutely delete the rant if you want to (and put it in a separate post), but I feel for Tersly and Viv and your rhetoric question kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
