Hey! sorry it took me so long to get around to this T-T.
My main oc project i'm working on right now is set post-apocalypse with bug zombies and stuff. The two main characters are Cicada, a cicada killer wasp infected, who has amnesia and is guiding the cast through the world to find a cure/vaccine for the outbreak, and Cherry, who is a cave spider infected and is slowly mutating and losing sanity over the course of the story. The rest of the cast are Adonis, a butterfly infected who is dealing with religious trauma from the remains of his family during the apocalypse, and who got saved by Cicada; Victor, a bullhorn ant infected who leads a university club called Swarm made up of people who are infected but retained their sanity who want to find a cure; Aiko, who is Cherry's boyfriend and is the only uninfected in the main group; Asha, a banded flower mantis infected, who was raised alongside Cicada and went eir separate way afterwards (Cicada has since forgotten who ey is); and Cardinal, Swarm's club cat, who is also infected and is a ladybug.
The story starts with Cicada finding (kidnapping) Adonis, and they travel together for a few weeks before being found by Victor in a gas station they were looting. Victor shows them to the rest of Swarm, and they choose to hire Cicada to guide them across the world and find their cure. They leave just before an inspection for infection happens across their city, with the knowledge that they can't return before finding a cure or they'll be found out and killed to prevent infection. They find out after leaving that Cardinal is smuggled away in their luggage. It's basically a big epic roadtrip from here on out.
More random info! Cherry fights with a garrotte, Cicada uses his hands, Adonis uses a knife, Victor uses brass knuckles, Aiko hides and occasionally shoots someone, and Asha uses her raptorial arms to fight. Cherry is bisexual, Cicada is mirrorsexual and aromantic, Adonis is achillean, Victor is polysexual with a preference for men, Aiko is bisexual with a preference for women, and Asha is lesbian. Cicada is a guide and mercenary who takes commissions to travel with them, often wanting payment of food or temporary shelter until he finds another client. Height order is tallest to shortest, Cicada, Aiko, Cherry, Asha, Adonis, Victor. This is going to be a very queer-themed story, based around identity of both gender/sexuality and also the idea of slowly becoming someone else. It will include themes of religious trauma, cannibalism, transphobia/intersexism, and amatonormativity.
I'm planning on making it into a slice of life comic of some kind, but it's taking a while because i'm ass at drawing. There's a ton more info that i could dump, mostly on how the infection works and what's up with Cicada, but this is enough for now and i don't want to give any major spoilers in case i ever get around to actually making it. Have some concept/practice art of them!
