seriously….
Honestly…fuck kris
… What the fuck is wrong with preference? What, it’s illegal now?
@starryshawolight it’s an issue when his preference is probably derived from Eastern Asian beauty standards that have oppressed people with darker skin tones for years on years… Honestly you could be right about it being just a personal preference because the fact is no one really knows his motives behind why he likes lighter skinned girls but that’s just my take on it.
@aigooshinee Thanks for telling me so politely. Yeah, I get it, because I am a dark-skinned South East Asian chick who was made fun of by her family for being dark. My biggest problem is that people can be so quick to turn their backs on their favorite idols because of a preference (i.e. the Jjong issue earlier this year because of a mis-translation). I feel like that’s what people are doing now to Kris and it just irks me. There’s a huge difference from “I like light-skinned girls” to “I would never date a dark-skinned girl”. People are always so quick to judge and it’s honestly so heart-breaking to see fans just rip apart someone because they grew up in a vastly differently culture and have specific preferences. Again, the Jjong situation, where people started calling him racial slurs and asked for him to be removed from the group. I have been in the KPOP fandom for YEARS and NEVER have seen something like that happen before. Albeit, times have changed and people actually do call out Asians on their racism, more times than not, when it’s an innocent question like this, instead of the international fans telling their idols that dark-skinned beauties do exist and they should expand their horizons, they almost go straight to harassing. Sorry, for my outrage. I just don’t want idols to bullied anymore because of preference. Straight out racism (like the black face from the hip hop idols) should be called out on.
“bullied because of preference”? how the hell is this bullying lmao. he is straight up enforcing colourist sentiments that are harming dark-skinned POC all around the world. kris probably will never see the dragging that ensued because of this. even if he does, his feelings don’t matter more than the dark-skinned fans who have been let down yet again by their faves, who have been reminded yet again that their skin isn’t preferable.
also im chinese and south east asian so you can shut the hell up about “culture”. culture can be wrong. culture isnt above criticism. furthermore KRIS GREW UP IN CANADA.
I’m not saying Kris himself has been bullied (yet). I’m not saying culture can’t be wrong or be above criticism. I don’t know if you read, but I’m South East Asian myself (Filipino, naturally darker). Even if Kris grew up in Canada, he can still be isolated in his parents ideals, like my parents are racist as all hell and my sister adopted those ideals, being always disgusted with the thought of guys dating black girls or herself dating a black guy.
Also, I don’t know how ONE dude out of EVERYONE in the world is “enforcing colorist sentiments” and “harming dark-skinned POC”. Also, “his feelings don’t matter”? Are you freaking serious? So you won’t treat him like a human being just because he has a preference? Ah yes, how polite of you to dehumanize your problematic fave instead of teaching him how harmful his thoughts are.
And again, “reminded yet again their skin isn’t preferable”? Honestly, the world has come a long way and I see more love towards those with color in their skin than those who are paler. I see more hate towards those that have naturally paler skin than those with lighter skin.
#please be more open minded #instead of jumping the gun and harrassing people
no one told you to spew your apologist nonsense on my post and this hardly counts as harrassment
idk what kind of utopia u live in but ppl are still being oppressed and even killed for their skin colour. you can literally google it.
just because he’s one dude doesn’t mean his opinions aren’t just as harmful. one bullet might not kill you, but 20 bullets definitely would. his “preference” is one of those 20 bullets in the bodies and minds of dark-skinned POC.
lmao i’m supposed to teach him? last time i checked, teachers get paid. i just made the post to call him out and start a discussion.
learn to love yourself instead of worrying about the feefees of a grown man. be blessed.
Yeah, the world is fucking messed up and blah blah blah. And spew apologist nonsense on your post? Sweetie, this is tumblr, this is a public post, this isn’t even your original post and YOU replied to something that I had said.
> “ppl are still being oppressed and even killed for their skin colour”
Oh, like the white people in South Africa that are getting killed for being white?
Like the the white news reporter and white cameraman a couple months back who were shot because they were white?
What about that NINE YEAR OLD CHILD who committed suicide because of racism?
Or are you just talking about the police brutality against black people in the media that gets SO MUCH SUPPORT, to the point where people always jump down someone’s throat if they say “all lives matter” instead of “black lives matter” (because apparently it’s only police brutality against BLACK people).
“white ppl getting killed in south africa” You mean settlers who encroached upon land that wasn’t theirs while simultaneously oppressing the very ppl who they stole the land from? fuck white folks lmfao.
On god i hope someone runs up on your stupid ass and clocks you right in your ugly ass face one day lol. Complete and utter filth.
this whole thing was the wildest ride esp when the “white ppl in south africa” argument got introduced
late af to this but this post did a good job of bringing out the self-hating pocs. it's always the same recurring argument of "it's just his preference it doesn't hurt darker-skinned ppl". yeah it's his personal preference but embedded in that preference is colourism, whether kris is aware of it or not. it's very common in asian societies and cultures, but that doesn't mean that it's not wrong. instead of being so close-minded, actually reflect on yourself and your respective cultures. pretty sure you'll realise that there's always a tendency to prefer paler/whiter skin. and to those saying that it's the opposite now, pls check the police brutality statistics and news in the usa and look at your own countrymen's perception on skin colour. the ones hurling insults at your ignorance are justified to do so because they're experiencing the reality of colourism and racism, or they actually understand the weight of the issue irl. i know it's always best to remain calm and polite when educating ppl who rly have no clue, but to see this issue come up again and again with the same types of arguments is exhausting. you should appreciate anyone who even bothers to spend time educating you on this. that's all i gotta say.
