Let me introduce you to my NieR OC: Hanae

Hanae is an immortal human, possessing magic from the old world.

When she was still young, her mother saved her from a deadly disease with the power of Lunar Tear flowers. Since then, she inherited the power of the flower and became immortal.

 

Before the events of NieR Replicant, Hanae coincidentally found her way to Emil's manor. Having no family nor home anymore, she stayed at the manor and lived with Emil and Sebastian. During the game, she'll accompany Nier, Emil, and Kainé on their quest.

 

Hanae will be seen again during the events of NieR:Automata, making her the last human on earth (with Emil). She is living with her friend Emil, helping him with his shop.

 

Hanae is obviously in love with Emil. Unfortunately for her, her best friend will never return her feelings (as he is already in love with Nier). Nevertheless, Emil and Hanae are close friends and share a strong and unbreakable bond.

Clair Obscur : Expedition 33 OC

Aline spying on Clea, Verso, and Rose while they were painting together on Verso's canvas.

I have had this scene on my mind for quite a while now. I thought Aline was the kind of mother who always kept an eye on her children (especially when they were painting).

In this scene, Clea is 10 years old, Verso is 7 years old, and Rose is 6 years old. I haven't put Alicia because she would have been only 1 year old (according to my headcanon).

Let's talk about my headcanon on the Dessendre sibblings' ages:

The only information we have on the Dessendre siblings is that Clea is the firstborn, Verso the middle child, and Alicia the younger one.

We also know that Verso was 26 years old when he died (in 1905).

I headcanon that Clea is at least 3 years older than Verso. Which means she was 29 years old in 1905.

As for Alicia, we don't have any information about her age either. I personally believe she was 20 when Verso died.  Which means she is 6 years younger than him.

Also, I know Maelle is 16 yo, but I don't believe Alicia shares the same age as her!

Alicia being 16 in the real world does not make much sense in my opinion... Especially if you wanted her to be old enough to somehow play with Clea and Verso on the Canvas when they were still kids.

As for my OC Rose, she is only 1 year younger than Verso. Which means she was 25 when he died.

Clair Obscur : Expedition 33 OC

As you might know, Rose and Verso have been married for 5 years before Verso's tragic death. Of course, one of their biggest wishes was to build their own family.

Unfortunately, they never succeeded in having a child during these 5 years. Rose has been pregnant a few times, but always ended up losing the baby at an early stage.

In June 1905, Rose got pregnant again. Fortunately this time, she was able to keep the baby. The couple couldn't be happier. They slowly started buying everything they'll need to welcome their child.

But on December 33, Verso died in the house fire caused by the Writers. Only Alicia and Rose survived.

Unlike Alicia, Rose hasn't been burned, but she inhaled too much toxic smoke. For days, the doctors tried their best to save her and her baby. But the shock and the damage caused by the smoke were too intense. The baby died a few days after Verso.

This part of the story is… a sensitive topic, I know. But it fits the tragic destiny of the Dessendre family too perfectly… Sorry…

Also, the blood on Rose's clothing and hands is the representation of her child's loss.

I'll talk more about the fire, Rose and Alicia later. There's still a lot of mystery about what really happened during the fire. How Alicia has been trapped by Writers and how Verso was able to save his sister?

I'm still writing down my own headcanon about this scene. But I have an idea of how Rose could have been implied in this tragic event.

"Just… Let me hold you for tonight…"

When Verso and Aimée are alone (especially at the fire camp), they always spend their time either playing music or cuddling.

Most of their love language is physical touch (holding hands, cuddling, caressing hair, kissing…). The uncertainty of tomorrow strengthed their bond.

Aimée knew they could die at any moment. After all, every Expedition failed in the past. Why would it be different for them anyway Unlike him, she wasn't immortal…

Verso perfectly knew Aimée would be Gommage'd after the Paintress defeat. That Rose will regain her memories and will have to leave the Canvas and move on with her life. He'll lose her again, it was inevitable.

This short time they have together, they wanted to cherish it, to feel and fully live it. Every kiss, every touch, every word could be the last. They live as if tomorrow would never come.

I had so much fun working on this piece. I wanted to draw something gentle and delicate.

Also yes, I'm lazy so I drew Verso with his civilian outfit. And I might do this often cuz his Expeditionner outfit is a real pain to draw.

Verso and Rose's wedding portrait 💍

This portrait was painted by both Verso and Rose's parents.

Verso and Rose got married in 1900, five years before the house fire. They've known each other since their childhood.

Rose's parents were famous Painters and great friends with the Dessendre family. They often visit them, either for friendly visits or for professional purposes.

Verso was 3 years old when he first met Rose, who was 1 year younger. They quickly became inseparable and spent most of their time playing in the Canvas along with Clea and Alicia.

During their teenage years, their strong friendship evolved into a romantic relationship. They were respectively 16 and 15 years old when they first kissed.

Rose knew Verso wanted to become a skilled Musician instead of a Painter. She has always been supportive of his dream and has spent days and nights at his side, learning music with him.

In 1897, when Verso turned 18 years old, he promised Rose he would marry her after she finished her Paintress studies. 3 years later, Rose Delaunay became Madame Dessendre and started her new life as Verso's wife.

They spent 5 years as the happiest married couple on earth. Until the fire took both Verso and their unborn child's lives forever.

Verso and Aimée's first kiss 💫

It was obvious that their first kiss happened while they were playing the piano together, alone under the moonlight.

As an opera singer, Aimée loves music and knows how to play various instruments such as the piano.

When they are alone at the fire camp, Verso and Aimée enjoy playing music (a lot).

These long nights of talking and playing the piano got them closer, until they finally declared their feelings for each other.

But even if Verso deeply and truly loved Aimée, he was willing to sacrifice their relationship and his life to save and free his mother, Alicia, and Rose from the Canvas.

To him, Rose's life was more important than her alter-ego Aimée or their budding romance.

The real Verso died to save his sister and wife's life, and he was ready to do the same.

He couldn't have been able to save his Rose, but he still has the chance to save the real one.

It took me 2 weeks to finish these 2 drawings. I just wanted to say that I retraced the scene between Verso and Maelle (first page only!).

There's something I forgot to mention about Painted Verso and Rose in this post!

The Painted version of Verso was married to the Painted version of Rose (the same way the real Verso was). Before the fracture, they were both living together at Lumière with the Dessendre family.

When the Fracture separated Lumière from the rest of the continent, Rose, their newborn child, Aline, and Clea went missing. Determined to find them, Verso and Renoir took part in Expedition 0.

The story remains the same: The Expedition 0 succeeded in reaching the Monolith, where they met the real Clea Dessendre. It was there that Verso will learn Rose and their baby were erased from the Canvas forever, as Aline hasn't succeeded in making them immortal like the rest of the Painted version of the Dessender family.

Of course, the fact that Verso was looking for his missing wife and child completely erased his love story with Julie (sorry Julie…). But they remained close friends!

To summarize:

Real life Rose and Verso were married.

Verso and their unborn child both died during the house fire.

Rose, who survived, was left alone.

Painted Rose and Verso were also married.

Rose and their newborn child were erased/died during the fracture.

Verso, who survived, was left alone.

Which means both in Real Life and in the Canvas World, Verso, Rose and their child were destined to be separated by tragic events 💔

There's a lot more to say about Rose/Aimée and Verso, but I won't reveal everything now. You'll have to wait...

My COE33 OC: Rose Delaunay (Dessendre), alias Aimée in the Canvas World ✎ᝰ.

Aimée uses her voice and music partitions combined with magic to attack enemies.

Depending on the partition chosen, she generates attacks based on various elements: Fire, Ice, Earth, Lightning, or Neutral.

Her music spells allow her to summon various instruments which will have an impact on the efficacious of the partitions.

-- (Very) quick backstory --

Aimée was one of the most famous opera singers of Lumière. She joined Expedition 33 alongside her friends to kill the Paintress.

During their journey, she and Verso fell unconditionally in love. But their love story was cut short when Aimée was Gommage'd after the Paintress's defeat.

In reality, Aimée was revealed to be the repainted version of Rose. Rose Delaunay was a talented Paintress and Verso's wife in the Real World.

She entered Verso's Canvas as Clea and Renoir's ally, but was repainted against her will by Aline's powerful Chroma. She was still too affected by Verso and their unborn child's loss to overcome Aline's power.

After Rose regained her memories, she was torn by her feelings for her husband Verso and the Painted version Aimée deeply loved.

As for Verso, he mourned Aimée, who disappeared when Rose regained her memories. The Aimée he learned to love wasn't there anymore.

I won't talk about the endings here, cuz I'll make 2 separate posts for each one.

I know it was a short introduction, but Rose/Aimée's lore cannot fit in only one post.
