Repentance (Devotional)
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. ā Revelation 2:4-5
Do you remember when your eyes were first opened to see the beauty and the grace and the power of Jesus Christ? Perhaps it was at a young age, or after many wrong and painful choices, or as a result of a long and arduous search for truth ā but when Christ revealed himself to you, you had eyes only for him.
But since then, things have changed. Life has gotten busy, work has been stressful, the hunt for an escape has replaced your search for truth. Maybe you still go through the religious motions of church attendance or Bible studies, but your heart is not in it any more. You have left your first love.
If this describes you, then Jesus says to you āRemember.ā Remember the peace and the joy and the satisfaction that is only found in a close relationship with Christ. Remember the worthiness and glory and humility of Christ on the cross. Remember what itās all about. Itās all about Jesus.
And after you remember, then repent. Repentance necessarily involves admitting that you have been wrongā¦but it means even more than that. It means changing your ways and doing what is right. Repent of the fact that you have let other things come between you and Christ; admit that you have not nurtured your love for him as you ought; confess your need of his renewing and reviving work in your life.
Remember. Repent. Return to your first love.

After all. š
Thank you God for always being with me when the rest of the world isn't. More importantly, for making me realize that everything falls in its perfect place when I always decide to choose the roads towards your will instead of mine. Thank you for believing in me when I forget to believe in myself, for lifting me up in times of trouble, and for making sure that despite my anxieties and the uncertainties coming my way, there lies blessings in disguise that I deserve.
Thank you, oh God. You are simply all that I need. š
Sin and Its Effects (Devotional)
Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life ā John 5:40
What a terrible, treacherous thing sin is! In Jesus Christ is everlasting life, and yet our sinful nature willfully rejects the abundant life for the pursuit of the non-existent. Our passion by nature is to seek lasting pleasure outside of the loving embrace of Christ. But there is no such thing.
Not only are we unable to turn to Christ on our own, we are unwilling to turn to Christ on our own. We could not if we would, but here is the astounding truth ā we would not even if we could. We would never repent, never turn, never submit, never believe of our own free will.
This is the depth of our depravity. It deceives our heart and leads us away from the love, forgiveness, peace, and joy of the one and only Savior. We would rather die in the attempt to save ourselves than to rest in the capable arms of Jesus Christ.
How is it with you today? Is there unaddressed sin in your life? Are you seeking to hide behind the fig leaves of your own righteousness? Are you unwilling to come to Christ that you might have life?

Revival After Five
Oh God is great, we made it through the first five months of the year! Time flies so fast, itās June!
How did your first five months go? Mine went really crazy. Looking back, I wouldnāt consider everything that happened to me really great. I mean, it was good but it wasnāt really as exciting as how I have thought it to be. January (new year) has made me think about things that I should be doingĀ ārightā. Of course, human as I am, I fail, most of the time. I have made promises to myself, created another list of unfulfilled resolutions, and other stuff.
Since itās a new month, summer has ended, and rainy season has come, I really wanted to see a positive change with myself and how I deal with what life is throwing at me. Good thing, God has guided me to the right path (as He always did) and helped me do what I wanted to do on the 1st day of the month. I woke up early than I usually do. I had my daily personal devotional, did my morning routine smoothly, went to work and arrived early in the office! I knew by the time I logged in at work, it would be a great start for me.
Lifeās Lesson:Ā Grow Up, Be Mature
Last week, a friend sent me a screenshot of a blog post I published few months ago. I kinda felt awkward knowing somebody has actually read my sentiments about life in general and work specifically. This, then, led me to re-read my old posts.
Gaaaah, it has made me realize how negative I was with life. I WAS perfectly disappointed with everything. My frustrations got the best of me. I am ashamed of what I have made myself become back then. I realized how it was not healthy for me, both physically and emotionally... and I hate to admit it but my spiritual life had been a bit shaken because of what I had let myself into.
Living away from home since 2009 has opened a lot of doors for me and made me see for myself that there is a big world out there - ready to have me experience what lies in it. And eventually, I have learned that what comes with those experiences is the fact that it isnāt always joy, laughter, and bliss. It also comes with sadness, tears, and worse, grief.
Few months ago, I didnāt even know how to put myself in order. I was too overwhelmed with emotions that I didnāt know how to handle each one of them. I was driven by my anxiety which led me to a nonproductive state towards my work and studies. I knew I caused too much trouble not only to myself but also to other people. I cannot bring back the time and wish to re-arrange my life. It was a phase in my life which I consider to be important as it has led me to one important lesson: GROW UP.
Grow up, meaning, be mature. I realized how in all aspects of life, being mature is the key. I have learned that it pays to be rational in all my decisions, in all that I intend to do with my life. Itās not always because they say,Ā āYOLO!ā that you always choose whatās fun. Nope, I have a different concept of YOLO from the moment I had overcome that difficult phase of my life. Itās when you do what you love without compromising yourself, other peopleās welfare, and your faith in God.Ā
New Domain!
I feel ecstatic today. It has long been in my bucket list to actually have my own domain and here it is! I'm finally checking it off. You can now directly go to www.jhenzblue.com for my site. Aaaaand a fresh new look to start it with, of course. It doesn't have that much difference than the previous one but I prefer this one 'cause it's simpler and clean. Although I haven't finished tweaking it up yet. Thank you, Lord for the providence and inspiration. š Jhen š
Youth and Old Age (Devotional)
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them ā Ecclesiastes 12:1
It is inevitable, young person, that you will eventually come to a timeāperhaps even yearsāwhen you are not even able to enjoy the pleasures of this life anymore. As unthinkable as it may seem right now, you will not always be strong, free of pain, able to eat anything you want (that day is actually coming soon!), or even perhaps able to get out of bed.
Why does Solomon remind us of this fact? Is he just trying to burst our bubble or make us depressed? No. He is writing this admonition so that we will begin now to pour our hearts and lives into pleasures that even old age cannot take away.
Remember now your Creator! Donāt wait until every distraction is taken away from you and God is the only person left to talk to. Serve him now, even in the middle of a thousand immediate pleasures that may be tempting you away from him. Because even now he is greater than any of these pleasures.
The truth is that, in your Creator, there are āpleasures for evermoreā (Psalm 16:11). He is not reprimanding us for enjoying the earthly pleasures of eating, music, painlessness, or sunsets ā your Creator is the one who made these things also. But he is warning us against seeking these niceties as an end in themselves, while we are still able to enjoy them, and forgetting about the greater pleasures that never go away or diminish.
In the presence of God is fullness of joy. Donāt allow yourself to be satisfied with anything less than full joy.

Hello, hello! Itās been a while, I know. I was really busy the past few weeks, I havenāt had any time to update the blog. But hoooray! I am wholly free today. Opening my laptop after a really long time is a delight. I realized how so much things I have missed updating it with. :-(
What was I up to lately? Well, the usual things... work, work, work, and guess what? Socializing (thatās what I call for the most times Iāve been out of the apartment and actually spend time with people). If you personally know me (close, as in), you can read between the lines by what I meant by that. *winks*
Itās Sunday today! And itās time for my 4th entry of āThe Sunday Currentlyā!Ā
One Secret Song
There is always that one song when played can strike the deepest parts of our hearts. You know what I mean?
And there you go, crying unintentionally because itās either youāre glad to remember memories or maybe you remember something that caused so much pain.
Or maybe the song is just so full of emotions.
Whatever, let it go.

Summer Starter at Samal Island
Itās up! Itās up! What is up?
Tonight, April 4, 2016, I officially created my own Youtube channel. Not that I am good at taking and editing videos but it doesnāt hurt to try new things, right? If you do have a Youtube account, you might want to hit subscribe so you can see my progress. A newbie is in town, guys!
So, the first video I uploaded is about the main topic for this entry: Summer Starter with my college friends! (You can view the video at the end of this post.)
Love Joy who happens to work in Manila went home with two of her friends, Allia and Ghie. Weāve been planning about this mini reunion slash summer outing since last year. I was having second thoughts in joining them as the planned dates (April 2-3,2016) were fast approaching because I have exams on the April 2nd and Iāll be done by 8 PM. Plus, I was on a tight budget and going there with them might cost me much.
However, their superpowers convinced me to join them right after my classes (the last day of the semester, hooraaay!). I hurriedly packed my things up and went there together with Bianca and Joyce. I decided to play a prank on Sarah, LJ, and Ann - told them Iām not going. I intend to surprise them, you know, stuff I do for friendshipās sake. Hahaha jk.

Happy Sunday guys! I literally felt the scorching heat of a SUNday. Today was well-spent with friends I havenāt seen for a long time. Plus, I got to meet new friends. Besides being my ārenewedā happy self because second semester is FINALLY over (YAY!), I canāt help but feel ecstatic for the summer break (which already started last night - right after my last class in the evening)! Haha, what stops a hunger for a break, right? I will be posting my first summer getaway soon! But first, lemmeā¦
If Tomorrow Never Comes
Last Thursday, March 30, 2016, we had a seminar on W.A.V.E. - Work Attitude and Values Enhancement with Mr. Stephen Taylaran as our speaker.
What I liked most about the seminar was I got to know and discover more of myself and of my colleagues at work. It was too touching to know and to have felt the warmest positive words and treatment we gave each other. Truth be told, I was well-motivated to work harder and become a better person everyday.
One thing that has struck me most was how we should always make the most out of our daily lives. Meaning, we have to LIVE FOR TODAY, let go of our REGRETS IN THE PAST and defeat our FEAR OF TOMORROW. If we are given each day to live, we need to do something NOW not only for ourselves but for others as well.
Of all the activities we have done, my most favorite part was to list down all the things we want to do and accomplish if we know we only have 24 hours to live. Realistically, given a limited 24 hours, I listed down 10 things:
I sat down and tried to rest. I could not; though I had been on foot all day, I could not now repose an instant; I was too much excited. A phase of my life was closing tonight, a new one opening tomorrow: impossible to slumber in the interval; I must watch feverishly while the change was being accomplished.

Hi! Itās that time of the week again. In case you are curious where I got the photo above - I took this using iPhone 5C (no filter) a good sight to see while we were on our way home to Gensan from Basiawan, Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur.
Back From A Break
Hi guys! Finally had the chance to get back to blogging after the holy week break. I kind of had regrets not bringing my laptop with me when I went home. However, I enjoyed the holidays and got to unwind and shook off the stress and anxiety I have been feeling the past weeks.
Work and school are resuming tomorrow and so I am back in Davao and back to reality. But first, let me take a selfie:
So how did I spend the holy week? I got off from Davao last Wednesday, March 23, around 1pm. One of the most irritating part of going home on holidays is the loooooong line at the bus terminal. When I say long, I mean literally looooong. You need to wait at least an hour for a bus to arrive and actually secure a seat. I usually take the non-stop airconditioned bus (YBL Inc.) because itās fast and you are assured to have back up buses in case emergencies occur.

Hello, this is my very first entry for Siddathorntonās link-up: The Sunday Currently. I found out about this months ago from reading Maine Mendozaās blog (well, of course, I wouldnāt deny how I admire her so much). Mind you, I have started blogging since 2007 but havenāt been too consistent about it. I start and eventually I stop and get back again, you know, my trend. I only get to blog when I got the time and whenever I am in the mood. In 2015, I managed to get back at it again (Maine was one of the inspiration). Thanks to my self for being able to have my own personal internet connection which actually hurts my monthly income *cries*. Nonetheless, it helps me for both my work and school responsibilities.
By the way, I have promised myself to actually go back to blogging again by the end of the semester. It has not ended yet (and itās not officially summer for me yet although itās awfully hot nowadays) but Iām glad to be back again earlier than promised.
So letās get the Sunday Currently Vol. 01 post started.
