hi thanks for creating this blog, it's exactly what I need ;__; I was wondering if you or your followers could give me advice/experience of talking about selfshipping in therapy? I'm autistic & have a real (long distance) boyfriend but also an F/O from the show that's my special interest; my bf supports my selfship but lately I've been feeling my SI so intensely it affects my relationship - I want therapy but idk how to explain fandom/selfshipping to a stranger :( - jiheishorising

I’ve recently talked to my therapist about self shipping, but he’s not really a stranger, so I don’t know how to help there. I just kinda took it slowly and explained that it helped me a lot. I’m sorry I cant be of more assistance.

Anyone else have any better advice?

I mentioned it to my old therapist (under the name soulbonding) and after going through the usual process of weeding out a schizophrenia diagnosis, she was cool with it. I had been seeing her for almost two years at that point to build the trust up.

thanks for sharing your experiences ;__; so far the big takeaway is that taking it slow is the way to go, which conflicts with my desire to get help ASAP but I’ll think about how to pace my explanations throughout sessions in order to find a happy medium

I’m still open to tips and experiences I might be able to learn from btw!
