Hello! I am Kei Amada, from Wan Chai, Hong Kong! I am usually on here if you want to talk to me, but occasionally my brother may come on. His name is Sei, and doesn't speak much English, let me know if you need to translate anything from him~

“Oh that’d be pretty neat! I’m not sure how useful exactly it’ll be to know Chinese where I live, but who knows, it might come in handy. Plus learning new things can never be bad, right?”

Although she was a little concerned about actually learning to write the language, as Ace knew they used an entirely different alphabet or something. It sure as heck didn’t look like the letters they used to write English atleast! But she’d just start with learning to speak, she figured.

“As for Lucus… Well for starters the houses are a lot smaller. At most they’ll have two floors, and only one family lives in a house usually. Some people even live on their own in a house. Same for me actually. Even the stores are a lot smaller; aside from the supermarkets most of them will be more or less cozy and specialize in one kind of thing. There aren’t nearly as many cars and you can reach most places by foot or bicycle if you have one. And well, as I said, there’s a lot of green everywhere. Trees are like our trademark, so everyone respects ‘em and harming them can get you in trouble. Uhm, what more to tell you…”

That’s fine! Even so, it might still be something good to know. And yes, that’s true! We can start a little bit later if you’d like, it would take a little bit of time to get started and I’m not sure now is the best time for it.

And I like how Lukus sounds! There isn’t many small things like that here, this being such a large city and all...although a few things are similar, most people here don’t have cars either and prefer to walk or take public transport or taxis. But anyways, if you can tell me a little more about the town, I’d love to hear it!

“Goodness, you really do know a lot, now I feel kinda silly…”

Honestly it wasn’t really her fault she had a disadvantage when it came to learning things, it was a little miracle she was even here right now to begin with. But it was oh so easy to feel inferior.

“Just plain ol’ ‘Merica, I have a ‘home’ in this little town called Lucus. It’s really small, not a lot of people there. Mostly trees, trees, more trees and then some trees. Perfect if you’re one of them tree-huggers I guess? Or a spirit of nature eheh. I kinda like it though, don’t get me wrong.

But yeah not a lot of people there speak other languages, and I uhm… kinda dropped out of school pretty early so I never got to learn anything other than English and maybe one or two words foreigners taught me in their language.“

It’s okay! You shouldn’t worry about it too much, the languages I’ve learned I learned because I needed to know them for where I live. Since you live in a small town and in America, it’s understandable that you only know English. Hong Kong is a very large city, and a lot of people speak very different languages here! I didn’t mean to make you feel silly or anything, my bad...

And that’s really neat! Can you tell me some more about Lukus? I don’t go into any small towns very often, there’s not really any such thing here...just big city for miles around. Lukus sounds rather nice so far, I wish there was some quiet spots like that here.

About the languages again, it still might be a good idea to learn some more on your own, if you want to! Although this might sound a bit odd, maybe I could help you learn a little bit of Chinese? I'm sure I’m fluent enough to teach you some~

In that sense she was always amazed by people knowing more than one language. She only had basic understanding of her mother tongue and could barely write, let alone that she knew any other languages. To her, most of it sounded like gibberish and too confusing to learn. Then again the only ones she’d ever heard before on rare occasion were French, some Spanish, and even one Russian guy. (Who had a funny accent in her opinion)

“So do you know any other languages? I mean, it’s already awesome you know two, but I heard some people even speak three or more! And then there’s me, only knowing English…”

Yes, I know at least pieces of a few other languages! I’ve picked up quite a bit of Japanese from a number of places and can write some in it, and I’ve learned a little bit of Portuguese since I travel to Macau sometimes, which isn’t too far from here. I’ve even learned a bit of Russian since a friend of mine taught me! So yes, along with Chinese and English I know bits and pieces of some other languages!

You know, if you’re able to do it you should try to learn another language! It may not be be as practical for you as it is for me since chances are you probably live somewhere smaller, but it still might be a good thing to try. Maybe if you live near another country, you could learn a language that’s common there~

Speaking of that, if you don’t mind telling me what country do you live in anyways?

Yes, about half a day! It would be rather neat, but unfortunately that means I am usually online when a lot of my internet friends aren’t.

i’m really into music! i spend a lot of time playing string instruments, i really seem to take to them easily it’s weird just give me about 20 minutes with anything with strings and i’ll have it figured out! i work as clean up in the resturant my dad cooks at it’s a lot more fun than you’d think.

It is a pretty big gap, but I have found a few other people who are on more when I am! It’s not too many, but it’s nice to have some people who are on around the same time~

That’s really cool! I’ve wanted to learn something like that for a while but haven’t had too much of a chance to. Do you like playing anything specific on any instruments like that? And that’s good, it sounds like you’re able to have fun while working!

“It’s… more or less a nickname actually, so it’s not strange you haven’t heard it before. I don’t like to use my birthname unless I have to, and most people know me as ‘Ace’ anyway so it’s easier this way. It’s a bit of a long story so I’ll keep that one for some other time, eheh.” Aside from that it was something that wasn’t easy to talk about. Very few people knew her actual name, and all of them had become very close friends first. Maybe one day she’d explain the situation to Kei as well; she sure hoped she’d ever be able to. More friends were always welcome. “Sooo, you’re from Hong Kong where they speak Chinese right? But your English is really good, did you pick it up yourself or were you taught?”

Oh, well thank you for letting me know about it, I can respect that. I do think it’s a nice nickname, though~

I was taught English some time after I had learned Chinese! Hong Kong is a really large city, and people from from all over the world travel here. Most people who travel here speak English, so it only makes sense for someone living here to learn it as well!

Sadly I don’t know any Chinese—- well except for ‘hello’ now~” She had heard the language a couple of times in passing, but never really did bother to pick it up as it wasn’t the most common one spoken where Ace herself came from. Maybe it was fun to learn, but it also sounded difficult. Anyway, that was a thought for later, she had an introduction to give. “Nice to meet you Kei, I’m, erh, call me Ace. Most people know me by that name so it’d be easiest I guess. Plus it’s nice ‘n short, like your own name—which is a cool name by the way, can’t say I’ve ever heard it before!”

That’s alright! I’m very fluent in English and usually speak it anyways, so there shouldn’t be a problem with that!

And I like your name! I can’t say I’ve heard of the name Ace before either, but I think it sounds really nice. And thank you! It actually is a pretty uncommon name, even where I’m from~

If the slow blinking of her eyes didn’t betray her as confused yet, then the eyebrows being raised probably did. She tried, honestly she did, but foreign languages were not her thing. English was hard enough for her at times, certainly when reading and writing.

Yes! I have a huge love for it, and I think it would be something neat to work for. It's just something I've had an interest in for some time, I live a stone's throw away from one of the largest airports in the world so that likely has something to do with it, haha~

I agree! The airport near my house is like a hub for almost all of Asia, you see planes from all over the globe here! And I could imagine so! I would love to have a small runway like that, but like I said there is no space here for such a thing. It’s a shame, honestly.

And alright, then! If you remember I would love to know who I remind you of. It is a little odd how many people have said that about me, but I imagine it is just a coincidence.

Yes, that’s true! I just wish it was a little easier to fly here, although you can see other aircraft more it’s not as easy to fly yourself. As the pilot, I mean.
